just been super busy pals. and when i do have free time, i try to devote it to my petitions. and while i could stream that for you guys, i tend to knock them out much faster when im not streaming.

in the mean time, there's a few really good streamers out there that are doing P99. i won't name for fear of forgetting someone or rustling jimmies, but i assure you they are far more entertaining than i am ;)

sidenote- an exhaust fan in my case died. i never had that happen before. so i took the side off and have a small fan blowing cool air inside. ive never done anything with liquid cooling stuffs, but i think we're about at that point.

Water cooling can be tricky and potentially damaging to the entire system. I got a Noctua NH-D14 and it cools my cpu on par with the best air cooling and top mid range liquid coolers. I re-encode video often so I definitely need a cooler that can keep my cpu running maxed out. I have a Intel i5-4670k overclocked to 4ghz+.
It really depends on room tempature but I have AC during the hottest part of the summers so it's always sub 70c (that being the absolute highest estimate in my conditions)
As of this post my cpu is idling at 26c, with all 4 cores at 100% it hit 56c and it's only ~24c in this room. Well within a reasonable temperature range.
Water cooling sounds very appealing but if you're not getting the top end stuff you may as well just get a air cooler and avoid any potential hardware damage. Just my 2 cents. :D

I have expermiented with box fans as a temp replacement and I must say it isn't too bad on the interim if there's a Walgreens nearby :)

1 fan dying != watercooling

probably don't even need a fan blowing right in the case

unless your shit is unstable and crashing, it's fine~

Liquid cooling is the way to go. Corsair makes some real solid, fairly affordable liquid cooling radiators.

Linus Tech Tips did some testing a while back (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8OmkmluAYAQ) with different fan configurations and they found that the difference between having 1 front intake fan and 1 rear exhaust fan and having just the intake fan resulted in a difference of 7 degrees C on the CPU and 1 degree C on the GPU while running a stress test. That's a significant difference but the system wasn't running dangerously hot or anything without an exhaust fan.

If it was me I'd just put the cover back on the case (having internals more exposed is probably more likely to result in something breaking than the extra heat) and get another case fan. They cost like $10 shipped and are pretty easy to install.

Water cooling systems are more like a hobby project to me than something you do for the sake of practicality or economy. My understanding is that properly set up air-cooled systems offer similar or superior performance (both in terms of thermals and noise) with much less risk of something going horribly wrong. The main advantage of water cooling is that it can give the inside of your case a cleaner look.
