Hello,

I play an ogre SK and it's the most difficult race/class combo I have ever played. I love the race, the class and the RP elements but it's just hard to see mobs due to how big the ogre is which creates positioning problems. After playing my ogre for an hour I feel nauseous. I have no problems playing elves, humans, dwarves and other races.

Playing an ogre in first person perspective the mobs are essentially at my feet and hard if not impossible to see. Go to Oasis killing crocs for a good example of this.

Playing in third person perspective, the ogre's size completely blocks out the mob.

I think killing giants and wurms would be the only time I would have fun playing an ogre tank because then I would be able to actually see them.

I have seen ogre tanks in Highpass Keep killing goblins getting stuck in rooms making pulling very hard. Ogres even have problems getting into their own buildings in Ogguk and Feerrott.

Do Ant potions help? Can anyone give me some tips on what to do to mitigate this problem? Thanks!

Go ahead and go mad, that will probably help. Honestly, this may not be the best combo for you. Try an Erudite cleric, that's different without being bizarrely hard.

If you can tough it out til the 40s, get an enchanter to keep casting boon of the garou on you...some people hate that though :p

Getting mad helps with role playing ogre rage.

ogre sk = win

Just use those shrink potions. They last till you die/zone.

Clear the bottom of your UI screen, move the chat window etc. to the top of your screen. Get used to using the pan view keys, page down, home. And get used to not being able to see what you're hitting. As for being too big to run in small corridors, well now you have a good excuse for why you can't be the puller :)

As for the nausea, this is hardly the place to seek medical advice but if you ask me it seems psychosomatic.

Being the biggest isn't all bad, apart from heaps of stamina there is also the ability to jump over barriers that sub-ogres can't. The wall at the moat in CoM is a good example.

As a lvl 60 sk, i tanked everywhere in Norath , dont get same feeling as you got. Wen you get used to it, you are gonna love it :D

On the other hand, Big size means make it easy for healers knowing where you are, and you are in finghting etc ,which make more possiblity of your survival. and make dpser knowing where our tank is and assist you killing the main target, especially in a raid.

At last you can shrink yourself in any case you must do it with ant potion, it's about 10 plats per clicky and will last for ever (unless you died/zoned/relog etc), so that's cheap enough.

It's funny because it's painfully true.

I find my huge size is more often inconvenient for my party/raid members than me, and as a generally inconsiderate guy that doesn't bother me too much. It was SolA that drove me to purchasing a shrink pot, though. Goblins are too damn short. You don't have to use it often but you'll be very happy to have it when you do.

A friend of mine who has been a career ogre tank more often than not refuses to pull due to fatness lol. Even with a de mask or some illusion; my recommendation would be to make good friensd with monks and minimize your own movement.

Sure, refusing to pull might lose some groups or frustrate some members within them, but there are plenty of people willing to play a free moving melee dps and bottom line being an ogre can often equate to an easier job for your healer as opposed to backing a smaller race that is not as innately beefy.

This is super sad, since shadowknights are one of the best and most underrated pullers in the game. It's amazing how reliably you can get a single pull with snare + fd.

Shrink potions! Adventure anywhere in Norrath! They aren't even that expensive.

lol,

Verant's answer to old school inquiries about Ogre size in those zones was make friends with a shaman, not all races were designed to fit in every location.

i play a troll and it never has bothered me. i use mouse look for up and down in additional to the page up & down buttons. and i use F8 for quick targetting. usually all these things help a lot. I'm not sure your game play style, but maybe it is just an adjustment period.

if you get 2 (10) dose shrink potions, it will cost you about 250 plat to buy back each potion from a vender. so if you are only recharging 9 charges it cost 500. you may choose just to purchase new potions if that is too pricy for your budget.
