9th ring turn in question?

So I am about ready to turn in my 9th ring. I know the Dain is usually on immediate lock down when it isn't a server repop. So... my question is about the turn in for the 9th ring.

If he is agroing a puller as i try to turn in my items, would i lose all my items or would he just give them back to me upon agro? I dont want to risk losing my progression!
