Hiya!

What are your opinions on mages & manarobes? I'm talking about a lvl60 raiding mage. Useless? Rodmachine?

I'm especially interested in getting some first hand experience from raiding mages who have a mana robe, I've seen some last year in action in Rampage.

I'm not a mage, but I don't see a manna robe being especially useful for most raiding mages.

During a CotH race when the mage is running low on mana, I can see it being really handy though, especially with a torpor shaman or someone nearby to offset the hp loss. Otherwise, since they don't have any way to heal themselves like a necro (lifetap dot) or prevent damage in the first place like a wizard (epic rune), and since their dps on raids is primarily from their pets not nukes, a manna robe would have very limited usefulness in my opinion.

I could see a pre-nerf Fungi stick and a Manna Robe going together. But that's a TON of Plat.

Mages get a line of self regeneration buffs , overall not a terrible idea

Mod rods = no need for manarobe

yea with mod rods I am not sure what the point of the robe would be. Its really more of a Wizzy item

Uh, what?

Am I missing something vital here? How is a mage summoning mod rods for themselves (that are supposed to be for the raid) going to help them regen mana quicker to summon more mod rods for the raid?

Especially when:

This truely looks like a recipe for success

Make mod rods prior and hand them out. Not to mention you obviously never played a mage because you aren't making them for yourself, other than just one when done, as they're lore items. Plus using a mana robe to decrease Hitpoints by 60 then Increase Mana by 20 then to only use that to make more mod rods is ridiculous. However, If you've got a million man march on a raid target with healers by your side then go for it. Otherwise just get a necro to mana pump you.

Have a high level mage, thanks.

I can accept your explanation, just that its only for one specific purpose, which is a Coth race. 99% of the time the only other reason for mod rods is so that the rest of your raid can be more efficient. specifically clerics. A mana robe means more rods on the ground and your healers having mana longer.

Other than that even pre-summoning rods makes no sense for a mage to be using other than a solo mage with one rod in inventory before a solo session. and even after that one making more makes 0 sense. any mage seen using mod rods should be punched in the face if its not a coth race.

a mana robe can help a mage otherwise. is it worth it? thats up to the person.

Imo mages in general are the least mana dependant of the four int caster classes, with the exemption of the situations desribed above.

In summary that isn't enough for me to be worth having the robe - other classes profit much more from the robe.

I love Mana robe on my mage. Don't knock it till you try it, and if you think its useless its only b/c you have no idea how helpful it can be on raids and soloing since mages mana regen is FN GOD aweful.
