Bard Epic? Realistic or pipe dream?

So my only real goal on P99 was to level a bard up again (never finished leveling one on live) and get my epic. I've grouped most of the way, and I'm having a great time. I quested every piece of my lambent and saved up for decent weapons, I'm good at my class and enjoy playing.

But recently I started working on my epic, and I'm being told my friends and guildmates that if you're not in one of the few guilds that has the white/red scales on perma-camp, you can forget getting the bard epic.

Is this true? I never expected to be raiding NToV or anything on P99, I don't have the time for it anyway. But I thought getting my epic would be attainable.

Vox is pretty easy to kill, getting FTE is the hard part.

What guild are you in?

It's attainable quickly, if you have plat to buy the scales (~200k for White, ~30k for Red). Otherwise you'd need to join a guild that kills Vox/Gorenaire for the White and Nagafen/Talendor/Nortlav for the Red.

Even the more casual raiding guilds kill those targets, but they might have a line of bards waiting for them.

P99 has a TON of raid guilds, more than any classic server. Even though Velious is out, Epic targets and epic quest items are still hotly contested because the hardcore guilds pretty much had a monopoly on epics gained from Raid mobs until 8 months ago.

Bard epic will either cost you a ton of money or require you join one of the few guilds that gets white scales.

Gorenaire isn't hard to kill, she's just poop socked on spawn.

Now that the undead bard is in game, the white scale is the bottleneck.

WTB another blue server. In part because I think it'll be good for the raid scene but also to see if there are enough neckbeards who are up for the challenge of raiding on two servers at once.

I'm in a top raid guild and the white scale is even a pipe dream for myself at this point unless i shovel out the plat for it.

The White Scale is absolutely horrible no matter what guild you are in at this point. With Trak Guts now much easier to get the White scale is now in much higher demand and has become more of a bottleneck than the guts ever were.

Start saving up your plat.

I guess on blue its different from red, on Red the only thing I need are guts and white scales here are like 60k. Harder to get anyone to care for doing trakanon on red at all. only thing holding me back from doing it...I guess farming plat might be your only choice, but as a bard its not really a lucrative farm class.

on the other hand, as a raiding bard all you need are good drums for occlusion and pump mana songs thats it.

Do guilds do ride alongs for Trakanon? Considering that's the only part that's raided and No Drop, and only bards need the gut strings, I feel like it's less contested than other epic components out there, but I've never done any raid content in EQ Classic.

If you're willing to farm out cash for the scale it could be done, but it'd take some dedication. Or get into the raid scene if you have the free time like that.
