View Full Version : Trading to mobs causing them to drop the item that was traded?

I'm sure this has been discussed but I can't find out what the issue is. Are the devs currently aware that if you trade an item to a mob, it will not drop that item after it's killed? I'm sure that in classic trading to a mob would actually cause that item to appear on its corpse after. Is this just not possible because of the client?

There have been issues with this in the past. Because the quests are set up to return items that aren't used/consumed by a quest, it conflicts with this type of mechanic.

There is the intention to get it working in some cases, like giving things to charmed pets. I have tried a few fixes, but I have no desire to rewrite all the quests. I have another way to get it working. I haven't implemented it yet though.

In the mean time could this be 'fixed' for NPCs that do not have a quest script? (I assume that's what you're getting at/to.)

It's good to know it's being worked on. I heard that people would give their keys in befallen to lower leveled enemies just to make things easier for themselves and others, in case someone randomly killed the mob carrying their key. I just like all the aspects of the game that are used cleverly to people's advantage, it's part of the charm of eq.

This used to work just fine since the beginning of the server up until Spring when we stopped, it was still working back in April as far as I know. I really hope this gets fixed, from what I read on the forums, its been broken since Summer.

No. It did not work just fine. You are incorrect. Thus why it has not been readded. As much as it was exploited, it is low on my list of things to fix.

What I meant by it "working fine," was that when you handed a Charmed pet a weapon, and then killed said pet later, you'd be able to get your weapon back.

Right, but it also allowed for duping
