I'd love to explore and learn more about Kunark but, Kunark is just the worst. There are mobs everywhere! Half of everythings sees invis, the dungeons are tough for a level 50, Im kos to the iksars, and the TREES everywhere TREES.

I use to wonder about so much stuff like this growing up and playing the game.

I know a lot of people didn't care for either expansion but Luclin and Planes of Power (PoP in particular) had some amazing lore and little details thrown in.

Also, they kind of half-assedly explained Ro and the Oasis in later expansions (LDoN plus one other loooong after that). Same with stuff involving the Kedge and a handful of other lore loopholes.

It seems to be a innoruuk sumbol, which makes sense, but it also looks a lot like the veeshan symbol ( which is in the center of that shissar doomsday calendar, thingy that's everywhere...you know.. the glowing thing on the spectre tower in oasis for instance )

Just need to research the gods in EQ. It's probably in the EQ manual. Some hints are that it is tied with the Oasis of Marr.

Here is another great hint COUGH GIANT SPOILER COUGH which also provides an interesting perspective to Freeport, and perhaps even why the Church of Dismal Rage is so provident there (other than humans being easy to teach to hate, hmuahahahah)

Before, the time of the combine empire or the coming of Aataltaal, when the Elddar forest covered the southeastern coast of the continent (then called tunaria), the empire of Caerthielian controlled the norteastern quarter of the landmass. there is some debate as to the origin and fall of Caerthielian, but it is clear that the empire included dark elves in positions of great power and that it had contact with the high elves of Takish-Hiz.

Some time before the wars of Rallos Zek, the Caerthielians built the city of Wielle on the site of modern Freeport...

It's revealed later on that the frogloks (at least the ones in Guk) are followers of Mithaniel Marr. That's not really well reflected in vanilla faction though, as worshippers of Mith Marr don't have any special faction advantage for frogloks as far as I can tell.

They may be helping Trak just because iksar hate frogloks and the-enemy-of-my-enemy-is-my-friend, less sure about that though.

Yeah, the first part is pretty much right. There is a history with Marr siblings, innoruuk, and solusek that led to the creation of the Frogloks.

Also the second part- it depends on what kind of lore you are adhering too. The four horsemen prophecy, or the shissar calender. I can only provide my own theory behind it, but we can leave it open for a video to be made about it.

You should have your epic. It's probably worth it to have for roleplay/lore reasons alone.

FYI:

"Dan" -- variant on Old French "Danjier"; related to Latin "Dominus" -- all meaning "ruler," the big boss, the guy who will chop your head off etc. Compare also the Italian "Dom" or "Don" as in "Don Vito Corleone." These are all related terms etymologically.

Also note, "Dan" and "Danjier" = root of our word "danger." The guy who chops your head off is a dangerous dude. He will "dominate" you, and subject you to his "dominion."

tl;dr -- the reason for "Dain" is already just a word play that anyone who knows etymology of English would recognize right away. Not that the Colin Dain stuff is wrong, but the choice of "Dain" is pretty obvious. (PS: Tolkein was a classics specialist, and utilized lots of etymological word games.)

They were available right from the start. I remember grouping with a gnome cleric while I was at highpass orcs. Poor little dude didn't have much mana to work with, but we made it work. That would have been late March 1999.

I have no idea how long it took you to study and come up with this info, along with how much time ingame it took to actually find all the stuff you did, but again... One of the most entertaining pieces of art I seen in a while. Very nice!

The other videos had like, 2 or 3 page scripts SO instead of spending the rest of my life making one giant video I've decided to break it up into 7 different videos, each one being about a specific topic. I wish I could just make one big video but,.... it would just take too long ( they already take too long as it is! ). So when it's all said and done I'll put em in a playlist or something and it'll be like one big video anyways. no clue when this first part will be finished..... think im almost halfway done? They have been doing special stuff with those particular messages/quests, the entries on Alla are relatively new but I am honestly not sure if they were actually in game or not. Here's another one I saw a while ago: http://everquest.allakhazam.com/db/quest.html?quest=8468

Essentially, live has placed special NPCs in various Kunark zones offering supposedly forgotten quests from Ruins of Kunark.

Now what I find interesting is that the items dropped do seem to be on p99, at least for the one I saw...

I cant even imagine how long it must take to put these together, but keep up whatever youre doing cuz the care you put into making this really shows. I find myself rewatching them over and over catching things i missed. And im using them to try and recruit friends to jump on the p99 bandwagon also. Im officially addicted! I also have a ton of respect for your gamestyle. Theres so much about EQ thats special other than the acquisition of uber pixels. The old world low-mid level zones are so well designed and really scratch the nostalgia itch for me, but trying to get a group in Guk even is a major challenge these days. Hope to meet more likeminded adventureres such as yourself as i continue in my travels through Norrath!

They probably just went through items tagged as "quest items" that had no actual quests attached and made something up for the new expansion. Devs already said a few years ago that there are no unsolved old quests/etc. Everything was completed.

They have restored the quests (not sure what that means - unfinished on the dev side, maybe?). Many of the items have been in the game since at least 2002 (probably earlier) but no one ever figured out what they were for. The stats are in line for high end Kunark items as well. I'm thinking they could actually be legit.

This is not really new. As in, this has been dropping for a long time. Prolly since Kunark came out. Its just that nobody seems to know what its for. Its obviosly a quest item. but seems to have no quest for it.

I am starting to believe that these were in the original expansion, however the many revamps in several Kunark zones actually broke them. There are new entries on Alla for various items that drop in zones that have undergone changes (City of Mist, Chardok), although there are also odd additions I don't quite understand just yet (rusty mithril sword from Phinny in Kedge?!).

Edit 2: Here's an example of what I'm finding -
Quest: The Righteous Order http://everquest.allakhazam.com/db/quest.html?quest=8464
requires a Sphere of Primal Elements from a froglok krup mage in Sebilis - earliest comment on the item page is from 2002, but the earliest on the mob page is actually from 2001 (post-Luclin) and he was dropping the sphere even then.
Then another item required is Globe of the Thoughtful Mind, dropped by a named in Mines of Nurga (a revamped zone on live)
Then we have Firefly Candle (http://everquest.allakhazam.com/db/item.html?item=56361), which apparently used to drop before and now drops again in TT from a Night Warder (not sure if TT was revamped or changed)
The various other items are not well-commented otherwise, or were added after the patch when they were discovered (re-discovered?)

I would love if you made a video series on the History of Norrath. With all of this Everquest knowledge, you could do a very entertaining retelling of some of the more interesting stories in the lore. And point to evidence or notable details in the game.

I would watch a full video of just the Cazic Thule story you mention briefly in the first mystery video.
