View Full Version : So where is the Iksar Betrayer spawn now?

I get conflicting info: Wiki says he has been moved to roamers, and forum posts I found say the static spawn that I know from live near the bridge to royals with waterfall doorway. Those are more recent than user posts on the roamer spawn...

Spawns in the tunnel near the exit of Chardok. Levitate up there and kill everything. Easier to just buy loot rights from the chardok AE though.

No one uses chardok for anything but royals and AE groups. The zone is a pain in the ass, almost everything casts, mobs are on a short respawn (18 mins), drops aren't great and it's not an easy to reach location. The betrayer is not a common spawn. People always bitch about chardok AE, but lets be realistic. There are many reasons that no one takes a group to level here and the AE isn't number 1. Save yourself the headache and buy an MQ or loot rights.

Any monk complaining about chardok AE needs to realize the sheer amount of pipes and Stave's of Shielding it has produced has made gearing your class significantly cheaper and easier.

Get some friends and drop down into the slave pit between AOE pulls. Kill the static spawn and set a 20 minute timer. Pull mobs from tunnel one at a time. Pull roamers since those are the PH. Keep this up for a few cycles and the mobs will spawn on your timer instead of the AOErs. We did it with a 58 monk / 58 shaman on a Saturday morning and it took 1 hour

No, AE is #1, sorry man. I'd have come here several times already if it wasn't for the specter of AE groups hanging over our heads. I remember this place on Live and there are some very good xp spots. But it's not worth the hassle to try and find a CSR so that you can keep them from the AE groups.

There are a lot of mobs available to pull for a group even with an AE group going. Yet no one ever is in the zone. I can manage to pull roughly ~130 for an AE group. Can get up to ~140 if I really go crazy. There are still a ton of mobs up even after I do a 140 pull. When you say you would take a group in I just don't believe you. People would do it if they actually wanted to.

Sirken has advised on his stream several times that he would encourage regular groups to claim spots in Chardok.
Sorry but Chardok AE is zone disruption.
Also, for the economic benefit of buying highly supplied goods vs opportunity cost of camping argument: It's not always financial. There are people who actually want to complete quests themselves. Pretty novel, huh?

Puller can just not pull the betrayer tunnel then. Not a huge deal, a good puller will know to get his 20 mobs from another spot and add that to the pull.

Then you can sod off. I'm telling you that's why I don't bring my static there. I don't really care if you don't personally believe me; it happens to be true. I suppose revealing yourself as one of the Chardok AoErs shows why you have a stake in not believing me, though.

Where are the groups on Sundays then? Chardok AE basically doesn't run most of the day sunday because too many mobs are in window. I have yet to see a single xp group in there.

And I expect to see you telling us that we can now use the zone on Mondays. I know you think that people are spamming /who all chardok frantically, but everyone else has mostly given up using the zone because we can't trust that an AoE group will or won't show up.
When the mob windows get pushed to Monday, make an announcement in forums that you're no longer using Chardok for AoE groups on Mondays, and stick to it. You'll see people in there.
Ideally you'd give the server some extra days now, but I'm not anticipating that. (Even more ideally the GMs would do something concrete about this, but I'm not anticipating that either.)

If you would like to take a group to Chardok and camp anything, feel free. People disrupting the zone for normal groups will be subject to disciplinary action per the PNP, and it does not matter if they were there first. AE groups must work around normal groups, not the other way around.
And for people saying no one ever XP'd in Chardok, early in Kunark (when AE still happened in Skyfire) there were often 1-2 groups there, and Betrayer was pretty much perma-camped by groups and duos once epics were released.

CSRs always say things like this, and while the sentiment is very much appreciated I'm not too confident that there will be one around to patrol this at all times. You are after all free guides, not paid ones.
It'd be depressing to go to Chardok and get trained multiple times by AE guys pulling over your heads while you were trying to crawl into the zone, all the while waiting for a CSR to come in and rule in our favor - which, judging by how fast my petitions are answered when I petition about someone training, probably will not happen before I stop playing for the evening.
Again, not blaming you guys at all. You can't be around to patrol this all the time. You shouldn't have to be. But as long as there are regular AoE groups in Chardok, people will be discouraged from going there for normal XP.
Maybe I'll try it a couple of Mondays from now and see how it works out. This Monday we've already scheduled something else. But perhaps the Monday after.

I'll tell you the same thing I tell everyone I talk to about this in game. There is free software available that you can use to record people breaking the rules. It's not hard to use. It's not hard to upload video. It's not even hard to stream video if that's your cup of tea. We can and do suspend people when we can see solid evidence of wrongdoing, but we have to have that evidence to act. To suspend people without evidence would be irresponsible and result in lots of unfair suspensions.
If you want to complain about people monopolizing the zone, feel free, but know that we have zero sympathy given how easy it is to provide us with evidence these days.

I get this. But casuals who have a very limited amount of time to play the game don't want to spend their evening frapsing up for lawyerquest when they could be playing in another zone instead. We have enough time to play once a week; I'm not too sure that we'd want to potentially spend our one evening a week to get trained and fraps it, instead of actually XPing somewhere where there's no chance we'd get trained by AoE groups.
That having been said, I'll keep that in mind if/when we go so that one of us can have a fraps up and we can do the thing if it comes to that. Maybe it won't; maybe the AoE groups will be very polite about it and avoid us entirely. That'd be nice.

And this is the response I don't understand. It takes no extra time to run FRAPS, Bandicam, Shadowplay, Win10 vid capture, etc. once you have it set up. It might take 10 minutes to cut and upload a video to youtube and link it for us on the forums. If it's not worth 10 minutes of your time, then you probably don't actually care very much about being in this zone.
Again, I'm not going to ask people to stop complaining about this because I think it's annoying too, but understand that these complaints ring pretty hollow in the face of these highly convenient and easy to use solutions.

I don't think you're understanding. Fraps is easy to use, yes. Being trained, slain, and waiting for a timely CSR resolution is not, at least in my experience. I've waited around for long times before with regards to /petitions re: training and not had them answered while I was online.
If there's a possibility that my /petition about being trained while I'm sitting naked at the zone line because I got killed by that train won't get answered in a timely fashion (say, ~20m), it greatly reduces the odds that I would want to spend my evening in a fashion that might lead to that. This is not convenient, nor is it easy.
Now if your next argument is that you don't have any sympathy for me because I should be willing to sit around and wait for longer than 20 minutes for the GM resolution if I get trained, then yes, I plead guilty to that. And I could be waiting for a lot longer than 20 minutes, I think. I'm willing to concede that I am wrong, if you tell me that that's wrong.

So what exactly do you want staff to do about this if you yourself are not willing to help us? As you've said, we're not paid, we are not on 24/7, and we are not going to be able to resolve your situation in 20 minutes if we're not online for it.
We are also not going to suspend anyone for doing AE in Chardok unless they're doing it at the expense of other players who have evidence of this. I get that you don't want to be the ones who have to suffer the trains to record evidence of them, but until someone does or there's a blanket ban on AE groups in Chardok, nothing about this situation is going to change.
Complain away if it makes you feel better though.

It's a forum; I'm just telling you how I see it. I don't think there's any good solution from your end, aside from aforementioned blanket ban, or a change to the mobs to make Chardok AoE inviable. (In the past I have suggested making every tenth mob immune to stun.)
No, I'm not expecting either of those things to happen. I'm just saying why I, personally, am reluctant to go there hoping for GM support that will eventually come to my rescue, but maybe not for hours or days, when my static group plays once a week and doing this has a reasonable chance of basically blowing our week.
I may do it anyway, taking the hit for the server so to speak, but I hope you understand my point of view.

I am pretty much with thufir on the "I'd rather go somewhere where I can avoid trains, to go out of my way to collect evidence, to get AE groups banned for training".
I may or may not go and find a way to record sessions on my Linux here, but the one thing I do suggest that you server staff could actually do is:
In the limited time that you are on the server, check on problematic hotspots in the game every now and then (such as Chardok), incognito, and if you see bullshit happening, proactively swing that ban hammer.
I think if an AE group is notified of an xp group going in and rejects their request to pull around them, that would qualify for a one week ban or something... Just by introducing the possibility to get banned the very first time you train someone, that might encourage people to play more nicely...

Because there's Chardok AE there.
These remarks about "nobody else is ever in the zone anyway" are disingenuous. People don't go there because everyone knows AE is happening basically 24/7. It was actually a surprise to me to learn that people took a break on Sundays because "mobs are in window" or whatever.

Any group could go in and force the AE group to stop if they actually wanted to.. as Leontius said. My point is that the AE isn't actually stopping anyone, even if it is discouraging.

I used to exp in Chardok on a regular basis back in 2011. It was a bring your own group zone, like HS, but plenty of groups went there to xp. What brought it to an end was the wurms in Skyfire being given stun immunity, which made AE groups there impossible, and eventually the AE madness moved to Chardok. On live people used to AE in Sebilis and other zones... it is a bit overdone on p99, but so is everything we as a player community do here.

Seb was the AE zone on my server(seventh hammer). Chardok is just so easy to pull + bigger pulls availabe.
Oh, Chardok AE...my graphics card has so many regrets from the day I decided to stick around and watch a pull out of curiosity after helping a friend after a Chardok royals wipe.
When I first zoned in, it was disorienting to see a pile of bodies and a bunch of people facing the wall. Sure, my friend's team had just wiped...but only Chardok AE could have explained the 30 or so bodies of golems and things by the L-bend. Then the strange ooc chats began.
Funkin says out of character, 'Funkin (idps) ::: @Sarvic(Mackinzie), Tummy(Evil), Fauvana(qillz), Auneyl(Bullwhip), Minds(Santa), Alvinas(Xp)'
What did it all mean? I was deeply confused. Then someone started pulling. We were told to stand up (so we wouldn't get aggro). That's when the train pulled in and the light show began. My graphics card instantly began to struggle, despite the fact that I'd set it to low particle density beforehand.

I never saw more of the zone than that dead end of the hallway, mostly because I went to bed rather than join the royals team. But it was an interesting glimpse into the lives of players who don't care for the long grind to 60.

So I think this is a short term problem(from here, not from the beginning of AE pulling). The zone is going to get revamped on one of the few patches we have left.
Patience grasshoppers. The solution is coming.

Take a group or a 60 monk/shaman and whatever else you want(pref enchanter for calming c2/vog) just levitate up that hallway infront of the main castle entrance. and you can clear down to the slave area(where the bridge if you jumped off takes you) and you can sit in a place where nothing spawns kos, and pull to there, you will find the betrayer popping super commonly. In 1-2 full tube pops your bound to get 1 betrayer per.

Any group could go in and force the AE group to stop if they actually wanted to.. as Leontius said. My point is that the AE isn't actually stopping anyone, even if it is discouraging.
