gnome mage or gnome necro

So I'm set on playing gnome..is not having iksar regeneration worth playing mage for or is a gimped necro still better than a mage?

My brother plays a gnome necro. He manages to get by.

gnome necro is all right, you'll just miss the regen. I'd go with a magician. fewer regrets later

It sounds like you prefer Necros more? If so, just be a Gnome Nec. Yeah, lizards are better Necs but Gnomes are sweet and it seems like you'd have more fun being a Gnome.
