It's time for this long standing bug to be fixed. Honestly shamans are really lacking in power and now that Cannibalize III has finally been fixed and boosted shamans power a bit, it's time to tackle this one. I would love to be able to un-retire my poor shaman.

I don't know if it is just me, but when I cast this spell today with my Shaman, my DEX did not go up at all. On the wiki it lists it giving about 80 DEX.

In addition to removing the mana drain in January 2001, this was upgraded sometime in 2001/2002 that removed the hp regen and added a large amount of dexterity and agility.

Not every website is going to be updated timely, especially when it's a self-only buff a lot of players didn't use early on. The best source so far is from castersrealm where it shows the stat upgrade.. but the duration is only 2 minutes.

July 2001: CastersRealm - Voice of the Berserker (https://web.archive.org/web/20010725175726/http://eq.castersrealm.com/spells/spell.asp?Id=1216)

If you'd like to see this upgraded soon, please help find out when these stats were added and the correct duration for our era.

Telin seemed pretty clear on what he needed to fix this. Subscribing to thread, will research at some point for missing details

All a quick look found. Not a popular spell!

Focus of Spirit will now stack with Voice of the Berserker.

I'm gonna assume that it was changed then for a timeframe. No clue on the updated statistics.

Here are details from dated SPDAT files I obtained from Ele, if a dev needs them PM'd to verify let me know:

01/09/2001:
Voice of the Berserker
Decrease Mana from 64 (L59) to 65 (L60)
Increase Strength from 74 (L59) to 75 (L60)
Increase Armor Class (AC) from 28 (L59) to 29 (L60)
Increase Hit Points (HP) from 34 (L59) to 35 (L60)

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Classes: Shm (L59)

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Skill: Abjuration
Allowable Targets: Self

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Resistance Check: None

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Mana Required: 1
Spell Duration: Unknown
Duration Formula: 10
Casting Time: 1.0 seconds
Spell Recovery: 30.0 seconds

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Spell cast on you: You lose yourself in your rage and go berserk.
Spell cast on someone: Soandso goes berserk.
Spell fades: Your frenzy fades.

Should note that even far previous versions of SPDATs match this exactly, including a 04.11.2000 SPDAT file. I don't have any SPDATs between 1/9/01 and 4/5/01, but seems to change at that point at least, so my money is the dex, etc bonuses were added when the mana drain was removed:

04/05/2001:
Voice of the Berserker
Increase Dexterity from 74 (L59) to 75 (L60)
Increase Strength from 84 (L59) to 85 (L60)
Increase Armor Class (AC) by 24 (L59)
Increase Agility from 74 (L59) to 75 (L60)

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Classes: Shm (L59)

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Skill: Abjuration
Allowable Targets: Self

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Resistance Check: None

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Mana Required: 1
Spell Duration: Unknown
Duration Formula: 10
Casting Time: 1.0 seconds
Spell Recovery: 30.0 seconds

Not sure if there are better parsers, I'm using an old Casters Realm one. The Duration Formula: 10 mean anything to you Telin? Not sure if it is a case of the duration being controlled server side by saying Spell Duration: Unknown?

Edit: Hmmmm.... just noticed on a 12/28/2001 page in Telin's link that recast time was changed to instant from 30 secs, can't tell when that went down. Anyone have some old SPDATs to share?

I hate spell formulas, but i think it would mean this:

Buff Duration Formula 10 is (level * 3 + 10) = # of 6-second ticks

Level 59 the spell lasts 18 minutes, 42 seconds because:
(59*3 + 10) = 187, divide by 10 to get 18.7 min

Level 60 the spell lasts 19 minutes because:
(60*3 + 10) = 190, divide by 10 to get 19 min

Also - April 2001 is in our timeline so I will work on getting this upgrade Implemented.

Currently VoB doesn't stack with FoS as it should've been intended to.

VOB will not stack with FoS if have you have FoS up.
VOB overwrites all dex and doesn't stack, when it should stack with everything.

VOB also locks your spellbar (all spells) for substantially longer than other spells.

Sorry for bump, but I just posted about this is Technical Discussions. It still locks the spellbar, until you click a GCD item. I have not waited long enough to see if (or when) the spellbar will refresh by itself, but it makes no sense that Voice of the Berserker would "freeze" every spell in the spellbar.

Attention to this, pls.

This is intended. I’ll look into stacking issue though.

I hate to be that guy that says "here's my 2c" when it's not a matter of opinion, but rather a matter of classic versus non-classic...BUT here's my 2c:

This spell and others like it are supposed to turn us into melee monsters, temporarily trading away spellcasting ability in exchange for physical power. It's supposed to lock your spells out.

I used Frenzy, an earlier spell in the same line, on my Beastlord a lot on The Al'Kabor Project (before I got a primal weapon) and I would just hit a clicky right afterward and keep casting if I wanted to. http://wiki.project1999.com/Frenzy

I have no evidence that this is classic, but if you look at it with this in mind, it makes sense that it would be this way.

Edit: I see that Telin just said "This is intended." :check-mark:
