Im about to roll a cleric, probably a human, and was wondering if there are any items that really stand out from the rest?

Aside from the usual, that staff clicky that casts Atone is handy for lull resists or overpulls

Larrikan's Mask, Ring of Shadows, Pegasus Feather Cloak, Jboots, Root nets for clickies. SoW pots useful for long distance travel. Donals Arms good for some mana free heals once you can use them at 45, gloves are good for an ac buff.
If you go Innoruuk diety, there's some really cool quests you can do. Can get a snare neck + fear mask, a deadeye helm and a cool looking shield.

Clerics can get by with not much gear. Obviously +mana and wis items will let you cast more.

Gonna steal most of Freakish's list. These are the items I carry on my cleric, which I would call must haves.
Epic
Water Sprinkler of the Forgiven (Atone Staff)
Larrikan's Mask / Gnomish Vanishing Device
Ring of Shadows
Pegasus Feather Cloak
SoW Potions
(DE Cleric) Clinging Darkness Neck
OT Hammer
Shrunken Goblin Skull Earring
Bracer of the Hidden
-----
Epic is the most valuable item you will get. Undoubtably. Wipes are a completely different animal when you're spending 700 mana per Rez rather than spending 0 mana and 10 seconds clicking your epic.
Atone staff is the most underrated clicky clerics get I think. Combine it with Lull and it is incredible. If you accidently aggro a mob, root it, lull it, spam staff on it until it forgets you.
Invis clickies, especially the instant cast rings are very valuable. I carry a mask and 4-5 rings.
Levitate cloak, also very valuable for running around
SoW potions I usually fluctuate between 1-4 potions. Again, very valuable.
OT Hammer helps you port to somewhere other than your bind point
Junk buff earring is nice for removing global cooldown. The bracer is nice as a 2nd junk buff and actually being able to see invis.
Snare neck is pretty useful in a pinch but it's not extremely reliable for constant use in grouping.
-----
If we want to get into raid items... The CH Necklace from the 6th PoSky island quest is a game changer for clerics. Having 2 instant cast CHs on hand for about 150 plat factoring in recharge and port up via Sky neck costs... That's very powerful when you need it. If you're not going to land a CH you can duck and instantly click this neck to save a crucial tank.
A Flowing Thought item. Several FT1 options, KT boots are only FT2 option and the only FT3 option hasn't dropped yet.
Beyond that, most everything is just stat stuff.

Only inny clerics get the snare neck, but any human can do the paineel quests. The Deadeye helm is pretty useful - free insta-clicky see invis, and the quest isn't that hard to complete with a high level alt farming the drops. If you kill in the Warrens, you should be able to resolve the faction problem and get it easily. The clicky fear mask is also a decent item to get. The shield is meh.

The shield looks awesome. Fashionquest going on over here.

The shield is identical to the MM shield with a slightly different color

A color you can't get anywhere else! And it's got nice stats.

If you're going Human roll Innoruk for See Invis helm + Snare neck combo.
Must haves/Basics
- Spyglass (for keeping top slot open, absorbing dispels, resetting global cd)
- See Invis (Paineel helm, BotH, etc)
- Invis (Larikaan's mask and Ring of Shadows on blue, bag full of Invis pots on red)
- Epic (higher levels)
- Jboots and SoW pots
- Levi Cloak
- OT hammer and Port potions
- Instant click trash buffs and 150+ unbuffed MR (red server)
Everything else is just gravy. Free CH clicks are good for raiding. Free buff/heal clicks are nice for 6 man groups and efficiency. Flowing Thought should be a goal you set early on into endgame. Atone staff is OK to have, cast time sucks but it's handy if you need Atone and don't have the spell gem prepared. Dunno how useful root nets and other rechargeables are because I never played blue (no recharging)

If you're Human go Inny for the clickies

Any human religion can get the paineel clickies. The only restricted one is the snare necklace which requires inny.

About how many times do you have to use the water sprinkler to get a mem blur on average?

1 or 2 i guess. I root, lull, then memblur. I /assist the mob to see if it still has a haste. If it does, re-blur
