<Archers Vow> The Journey Continues!

Hey everyone! This is Rosen Windstep! Leader of the Archers Vow!

A while ago I posted about my Archers Vow and the journey I'm on to become the greatest archer in Norrath! So here I will post about the continued journey...and invite along any other rangers brave enough to join me.

Be warned though, it won't be easy! In fact, it will be frustrating sometimes as you learn new techniques and work to become stronger.

The thing is you would be surprised how strong archery is. Basically, if you can keep away from it...you can kill it.

A good example of that is how I soloed a sand giant at level 20.

So, if you think you have what it takes, let me know and take the Archers Vow also! I don't expect the guild to ever grow that large....but a small elite team of archers could change the world....forever!!!!

Today was a big day for me! Once I had reached level 30 in Kunark....I decided it was time to begin my great hunt for the legendary Bow of the Huntsmen!! My trusty Rain Caller had been with me a long time (ever since I went on the epic adventure at level 20), but I knew if I was to become a great archer....I needed to keep working to get even stronger bows.

So, I contacted a druid in Firiona Vie to take me to the icey lands of Velious! He said that would be fine, and told me where to meet him.

Eventually I ran there and as I got close, I saw a little halfling run past me....with pirates after him!!!! It was the druid!! And he had friends!! ((The bad kind)) I had arrived just in time, the halfling was over half dead!

I rooted 2 of them, and he rooted another, and quickly he teleported us away....the hunt had begun!!

When I landed in Velious I was so excited I began tracking right away for the elusive Vluudeen (I hadn't even bound!). I had tried to contact people in the area for days to see if they had seen him, but no one ever had.... it was a rare wurm indeed!

So I was doubly surprised when as I looked around....I saw his tracks!!!! Finding his tracks upon landing was nothing short of fate!!! Fate wanting me to find Vluudeen!!

I knew I had a big fight ahead of me....but lucky for me there was an ogre wandering around at the time, and he agreed to help. Though even with his help, it wouldn't be enough.

So I tried to find more help and sent a message to the dwarf city nearby. A druid replied he would be up for the hunt....and so our team had been made!!

When we got to the entrance of the cave though, the elder wurms seemed to have known of our plans and were patrolling everywhere. Luckily I knew how to hide myself, and so we snuck in.

Inside the cave it wasn't long until we saw him....it was Vluudeen! The greatest wurm of them all!!!!

As the ogre and druid were trying to figure out how to approach him, I took charge and shot him with an arrow! I was taking this fight outside!!!

They ran after me and the fight began proper! At first it seemed as though we were losing...the ogre was getting hurt too much! But it quickly turned around as we got comfortable and vluudeen began to weaken! Ultimately, defeated!!!!

I took the tail and waved goodbye to my new adventuring friends, without their help it would have taken me hours to fight him alone!!

But....then it dawned on me....the most dangerous part was next....I had to travel to the giants city, but I had a feeling giants didn't like elves too much.

At the giant city I tried to scout a bit to see who had asked for the tail, but I couldn't find him....assuming he was behind two guards that I couldn't get past.

Eventually I met a monk who offered to help. It was my double lucky day!! So together we ran deep into the city to look.

We checked where my tracking had lead me before, but it was a dead end. Something was strange....

Eventually we figured it out though, he was hiding!! Hiding behind a giant pit filled with wolves!! And worse....even more guards we couldn't get past!!

But the monk bravely stepped up and offered to act as a decoy for me to sneak past. Time was limited, so we agreed.

It worked flawlessly, he distracted the guards and I ran past! Quickly I gave the giant his wurm tail and received the mythical Bow of the Huntsmen!!! My journey was a success!!!

After that, it was just a matter of sneaking out....but I knew nothing could stop me now that I was an even stronger archer than ever before!!!!

That is quite an adventure to undertake at level 30! I am impressed with your enthusiasm and tenacity.

I was in Kael, along with half of the world's population, when you zoned in, and I saw your <Archers Vow> guild, and thought to myself, "at last, a guild where I can feel at home with kindred spirits, and a perfect chance to escape the depravity of my current dark elf mercenary guild!" Then you made a derogatory comment towards a half elf standing near me, and my hopes were shattered. Half Elves are people too, you know, and we have feelings just like you pure blood Elves.

I wish you good journeys fellow ranger. Anything that doesn't summon can indeed be killed with a bow, if you have enough patience.

The half elf started it!!

Well, today was a big day for Archers Vow!! Our reputation is growing rapidly as word spreads of the guild of elite archers training to protect Norrath!! In fact, we even recruited a new member today!!

But just growing in numbers isn't enough...which is why I also went another another quest!

This time, for the legendary "Fleeting Quiver"! Since, what good is having a great bow if you don't have a great quiver to match it?

Buying something like that outright wasn't really possible for me, so instead I went out collecting the pieces and hoped I could find someone to sew them together for me.

So, I left Velious and traveled to Karana to begin hunting. When I got there, things seemed a bit...off. The miasma, sure, but more was the naked adventurers running around in a line rambling about hunting werewolves.

They seemed pretty happy about it all....but still, I couldn't imagine it was going to end well for them (even if a gnome was leading the group).

Anyhow, I waved goodbye and began hunting.

First I tackled getting the griffon feathers....but I quickly discovered the diseased fog had done more than make me ichy...it had diseased the creatures of Karana!!

After hunting a few of them I found the feather I was looking for, even if they managed to rub their disease off on me. Thankfully nothing life threatening!

Then it was on to finding the rare lion pelt....

It took forever killing lions before I was able to slay one without ruining the skin! But sacrifices had to be made, I regret nothing.

Overall, I stayed in Karana way too long. Diseases, itching, rashes....I don't know what is going on, but I always heard the plains were nice than that. Not that it is any of my business though, that is the territory of Qeynos. As long as they don't come near Kelethin things should be fine. Those humans, they ruined their own lands they won't ruin ours!!

After Karana I traveled to Butcherblock to look for eggs. It was nice to be away from the humans for a while. Nothing too eventful happened....practiced my magic some, foraged around, saved a few dwarves. You know, the norm for an archer like myself.

Anyhow, with my skin and feather and eggs, I headed back to Velious! I had heard that was where I could find the quiver pattern I needed (it was a lie, a house of lies).

When I got there though, I noticed a lot of adventurers sitting around. My elvish senses were tingling.... sitting in ice water and on snow? That is pretty strange....so something had to be happening!!

It didn't take long before I found out the giants had brought an army to Thurgadin!!!!!!!

Quivers could wait! My bow was needed!!!!!!!!! So I enlisted myself with the dwarvish archers and the war began!! They were good, but nothing compared to elvish archers.

We killed so many giants, I had shot probably thousands in the knees!

But they kept coming, there was no end to them......

We tried everything we could to push them back.....the dwarves were so brave, so brave.

But in the end the giants broke through, there was nothing more I could do. Before I realized it, giants had entered Thurgadin and slaughtered the dwarves! ((How the giants got through the tiny halls I'll never know...but don't underestimate them!))

Luckily, word must have gotten out about the giant rampage! Because before long, reinforcements had arrived and the city was taken back.

I tried to put the war out of my mind as I got back to my task. And as I was gathering the last pieces for my quiver, I met another elf that had come after news of the dwarves slaughter. Not only that, but he was a master tailor!! This was fate!!!!

He took my pieces and in no time assembled them into a work of art! (For a fee, of course -wink-) A quiver that could last me a lifetime!!

I think I'll stay around Thurgadin hunting for a while....they just don't seem prepared enough to keep themselves safe.

Well, a couple more rangers have joined the <Archers Vow> ready to begin their journey towards becoming an elite archer!

But, an even better sign of our success happened today....when I met "The Green Iksar".

You see, I was hunting outside of Firiona Vie when I met an Iksar necromancer. We both were fighting back the pirates and drolvarg along the shore...and I had seen him for a couple days there.

The thing is, as time went on I saw him beginning to take notice of my archery. He saw how I never needed to rest very much...and how I could kill enemies even yellow to me without much trouble....and how fast creatures would fall to my arrows!

And so we continued like that...hunting within sight of each other....

Until suddenly I heard him call for help!! He had been ambushed by too many pirates!! The thing is....I was busy with my own drolvarg....but I knew what I had to do!!!!

I snapped into action and began covering the battlefield with unmatched speed! Arrows being notched and let loose in a blur! As I ran I paused only for moments to summon snaring roots around 1...2...3 of the creatures. Of course, still finding time to draw and fire as I went.

And the Iksar? He laid there helpless until I had managed to control the situation, too hurt to risk showing them he was still alive....but finally rejoining the battle with his own magic.

In the end, we were victorious!! But something had changed....he began to look at me in awe...perhaps glimpsing the power of an archer for the first time?

So we chatted, and he confessed his jealousy! Yes, for the first time in Norrathian history....a necromancer was made jealous of a rangers individual might!!

Moments later a new half elf ranger was born....a new young-ling ready to walk the path of an archer? Time will tell.

One by one the world will know the might of archers again!! <Archers Vow> will lead the re-awakening!!

I woke up in Firiona Vie for another morning of defending the cliffs. For days I'd been fighting back the pirates and drolvargs there....and today was looking like it would be no different, just another uneventful training session. At least I could tell my archery was getting better, and the city was safe with me there.

Good news is I think people had been talking about my work there, since everyone seemed so much more cheerful towards me than when I first arrived.

So, as always, I started off by restocking my arrows with a nice barbarian fletcher I had met.

When I left his shop, I noticed it was starting to rain....but someone had to keep things under control! Rain can't keep a wood elf from her duty! So I ran out to the cliffs and began my work.

After an hour or two, I noticed the forest was unusually empty....scouting around I could see footprints everywhere, but where were they? It was just too strange!! Something was up, I could sense it!!

It wasn't long until I was proven right, the drolvargs had banded together into a giant war party!!!!! And they were chasing a poor human!!!!!!!

I knew what I had to do!! I had to save him!!!!!!! But he was fast....even faster than me!

I called out to him not to panic and just keep running away, since he seemed pretty good at that. He paused for a moment, confused, and shouted back it was all part of his plan....that he even had a couple more people nearby.

Obviously he had gone insane from fear! This was worse than I had thought!! Even a couple of archers would have a hard time fighting off such an army!!

I shouted I would join them in the fight, and he agreed. It didn't take long to track down his friends and begin setting an ambush.

The battle was unlike any other!!! The human had used some type of ultimate insult to distract the drolvargs...and then he used his impressive running ability to keep away from them!

I guess he knew what he was doing...because in the end it worked! We defeated them all together! And in the blink of an eye I had grown another level!! Lucky I showed up when I did, I'm sure the extra arrows made all the difference.

I guess that handled the cliffs safety though...the drolvargs and pirates wouldn't recover for quite a while.

So I quickly gathered all the drolvarg teeth I could and said goodbye....there was something I had to do....

I was hungry!! And the Captain has a strange fetish for teeth....but makes delicious trail mix!!!!

Anyhow, with all of the drolvargs defeated, I figured it was time to find someone else who needed my protection. I had heard rumors of a dark assassin terrorizing The Feerrott....I guess that was as good a place as any to begin.

Luckily I found another wood elf in Firiona Vie that could get me there....and away we went!!

When I got to the Feerrott I began trying to track the assassin. It really didn't take too long to find him....especially since he didn't seem to be making much effort to hide himself, instead just walking around the forest casually. Obviously from his overconfidence!

He hadn't seen me...but I knew of his reputation, my heart was racing!

Still, I had a job to do.......so it began!!!

To my surprise he was a lot faster than I had anticipated!!! And my knowledge of this forest wasn't the best....

No wonder he was confident!!!! He caught up to me a couple times, and I knew I couldn't go on like this!!

So I retreated.... this would be trickier than I thought.

Luckily I could tell another ranger was nearby! Surely with two archers he wouldn't stand a chance!!!

I tracked her down and she agreed to help...summoning some arrows for the fight. Odd I thought, what kind of archer doesn't already have arrows ready?

Oh well, I was sure it would be fine.

So together we tracked him down and began the fight again!!!!

But after only a couple of arrows...the ranger ran right at him!!!! Like some type of warrior!!!

It was insane!! She had lost her mind!!!! Everyone I was meeting today was insane!

And I was right, her health dropped a little faster than the assassins.....one wrong move and she would be dead! Did she know about the assassins backstabs?? Maybe she didn't!!!

But luckily I was there, and the assassin had already felt the sting of my arrows. As both of their healths dropped in a game of deadly chicken....the assassin knew even if he defeated her, he would have me to fight ....so he blinked first and decided to run.

His mistake! No one can run from a ranger!!!

It could have been so much safer...but either way, the goal was achieved!! I guess not every ranger has the heart of an archer -shrug-

With my success in Firiona and then against the Dark Assassin....I had come a long way. Now level 38, I decided it was time to begin The Great Hunt.

You see, for quite a while I had heard about the legendary "Skydarkener" being guarded by the fire dragon Wuoshi. I had done my research, I knew where she slept...I knew her power.....but she didn't know mine!!

Watch out Wuoshi!! I am coming for you!! It was time to begin my trek to the wakening lands for new adventures!!!!

Getting back to Velious didn't take long. I had been to the giants city before when I tricked them into thinking I was working for them for my Bow of the Huntsman....so I was pretty comfortable getting that far.

This time though...I was going even further....to a place I hadn't been....the home of Wuoshi, the Wakening Lands!

I slipped through the giants city again, keeping out of sight sure they would remember my part in the great war of Thurgadin.

But as I was exiting the city, I started to hear the sounds of battle. Someone needed my help!!

There, at the entrance to the Wakening Lands....adventurers were fighting the giants! Why? I don't know....but I had arrows, and they needed saving!!

I stayed to help them for a while, but slowly one by one adventurers either died or retreated.....until eventually the giants pushed us back.

Oh well, they had suffered a lot of losses! So it was a success!!! And now, it was time to continue! But before we parted, some of the adventurers told me of another city nearby...the dragons city!

Humm, a city of dragons? I wasn't too sure how they would feel about me....but maybe my part in the Thurgadin wars and then protecting the wakening lands had helped? I guess I would go see.

So I went out into the wakening lands to scout a bit....not finding any great dragon tracks at all...though I did find a tooth which seemed pretty handy. I guess Wuoshi was sleeping. Oh well, I planned to be in the wakening lands for a while....I had time.

As I continued scouting, eventually I came upon a city entrance. It had to be Skyshrine! The dragons city!!!

The two guards at the entrance seemed to not be bothered by me....it was a good sign, I think?

After talking a bit, eventually they let me through the gates. But they gave me a warning to avoid the cubes....-nods nods- whatever cubes were, they sounded dangerous. I thanked them for the advice.

The inside of the city was unlike any city I had seen!!! And it wasn't long until I got lost.....really really lost.

I still hadn't seen any dragons though, just ice creatures.....but I never forgot the guards warning about the cubes. I knew even if a cube tried to eat me, everyone would blame me for it and they would take the cubes side!!!

So, as I went forward...I kept making sure to peak around corners. Dragons, hungry cubes, this was dangerous!

As I said, I was lost....very very lost. And somehow managed to stumble into a giant maze! The halls were so wide...and ceilings so tall.....was this were dragons were?? Or....hungry cubes?!

As I ran around my fear dulled into tedium.....I was lost....really really lost.

The maze kept teleporting me around!! And even if I tried to go back the way I came, it was a dead end!!!!

30 minutes...an hour.....time started to drift by as I walked the halls of the maze. Was this how it would end? Trapped forever in the empty halls of the dragon city?

Or, was it Wuoshi?! Had she heard about my plans to hunt her?! Was this a trap by the dragons to stop me?! No! I didn't want it to end like this!!! I would make it out of there!!!

I sat for a moment thinking about how I could escape the maze. And that is when it dawned on me....arrows!!! Everything can be solved with arrows!!!!!!

So I began dropping arrows as I went...marking where I had been, and where the mazes teleports took me. As time I went on, I started to unravel the maze....bit by bit.

Everything was going fine...until...as I ran along, suddenly around a turn I saw it....A CUBE!!!!! And it looked hungry!!!

The guard had warned me!!!! Trapped alone....with this cube!!

It was too late to hide, too late to invis.....I had to think fast!!!

So....I crouched! Mimicing the cubes bounces and sounds "Gurgle gurle"....keeping a close eye on it as it rolled closer and closer.

As it inched near me....it paused....

"Gurgle gurgle?"

"Gurgle"

"Gurglee...."

And the cube began to roll down the hallway again.

It had worked!! I was safe!!!!!! And I continued my task of finding a way out of the maze!!

Eventually I did make it out....coming to more halls....more ice creatures.....and finally...I saw it!! A dragon!!!!

Did they know about my plans?! Was this the end now that I had made it past their maze trap?!

Now, from my studies on Wuoshi, I have learnt a few things.

First, dragons like to eat elves.

And second, I'm an elf.

I froze for a second....watching the dragon .....and I could tell it saw me too. I had managed to fool the cube, but I knew dragons were far too smart for that.

For some reason though, the dragon seemed disinterred. Had rumors of my battles against the giants reached them?? It must have!!

Yes, I had earned their trust.....-grins- for sure it would make hunting Wuoshi that much easier.

After that, I eventually found my way back to the wakening lands. The hunt would continue.....

Wuoshi, not even your dragon friends can save you now.....I'll have that skydarkener some day!!

I already finished the rain caller adventure though. It is what I had before the bow of the huntsman.

Always looking for new archers! We will always be small, but eventually when those around Norrath see us...they will know they can rely on our bows to defend them!

I knew my time around the dragons city was making them suspicious...I was asking lots of questions about Wuoshis habits and my wild interest in her bow probably wasn't helping.

So, to throw the dragons off my track, I decided to go hunting a bit around the area. "Dragons? No no, I would never! I'm just here to hunt tigeraptors!".

The next day or two I spent hunting them....until, one day, a giant tigeraptor appeared....the tigesaurous!!!

Either way, I couldn't let it stand in my way! I had to keep the dragons from getting suspicious!

So I carefully set my traps....and planned my attack....this would take everything I had.

When the battle began, it ran straight at me....rampaging through my traps! None of them able to slow it!!

Even worse is it could run almost as fast as I could!!! Not to mention its immense size!!

I ran back towards my final trap....and finally, it was snared....now I could do my work.

I pelted it with arrows and summoned my swarms of wasps to help. Resnaring it, rooting it, and using all my mana to keep it under control. The battle went on for what seemed like forever...every now and then it closing the gap on me and taking a bite of elf.

It had me down to 25% life...but I too had it hurt. Should I run? One more bite and I wouldn't have the chance anymore.....

No! I had to defeat it! It was stopping me from hunting the raptors!

So I stayed, putting my life on the line as I used the last of my mana to summon a final grasping roots.

Thankfully the roots took hold and gave me the final advantage I needed....the victory would be mine!!! When I looked over the body, I decided to take its tigeraptor skin, I wasn't quite sure what it was for....but seemed pretty good quality and it would be a shame to waste it -shrugs-

After its death I was free to continue hunting for a while longer and collected a lot more skins. But, as an archer, I had an even bigger problem on my hands.

Apparently dragon cities don't sell arrows!!! Likely from their fear of archers (which is pretty understandable). I had been hunting for quite a while, and traveling all the way back to Thurgadin was quite a walk....

As I was resting inside thinking of what to do, a band of other adventurers appeared.

Luckily one of them was a magician!! Who summoned me bags and bags of new arrows to keep hunting!

The adventurers also noticed the skins I had in my bags. Before they left they told me it could be used for some pretty fancy archers armor....humm, I had to learn more.

After some research I discovered that tigeraptor skins do make some pretty amazing archers armor!! It was just what I needed to prepare for my hunt against Wuoshi!! I had heard she wouldn't be waking up for another day or two, so I had time....if I hurried.

Humm, but first I would need to gather more ingredients..... drake oil? Velium studs? Ok, one at time!

Well, I knew drake oil was made from drake eggs....and being so near a dragons city, I was pretty sure there were drakes inside too (whatever a drake was)....I just needed to find some of their eggs....somehow.

So, I went to explore more!

It wasn't long until I came across the creatures I had met before....they seemed a lot like drakes to me....so I went to ask them for their eggs. In retrospect, it was probably a little rude.

They said they weren't drakes though! They were wyverns!! And told me to leave before they ate me.

So I kept looking....and eventually found some baby dragons, were these drakes?

I asked them if THEY were drakes...but they just ignored me. Too stuck up to talk I guess? I noticed a lot in the dragon city were like that.

Oh well, I was pretty sure they were drakes. So I concealed myself and tracked them back to their rooms.....borrowing a few eggs for later. Mission success!!

My next mission was to get some of those velium studs!!

After some research I heard rumors of a velium mine out in the wastelands.... the only catch was it belonged to orcs....and orcs definitely weren't fans of elves.

After some exploration I found the orcs fort.

Sneaking inside, it wasn't long before I found what my informant had told me to look for...a crystal teleporter to the mine? -shrug- I've seen stranger things I guess.

When I got inside the place was crawling with orcs! It looked like instead of a pick, I was going to be mining with arrows!

Sneaking around the mines I set ambushes for their miners....carefully picking them off without alerting the others.

I even had a chance to use some of the new magic I had learnt while hunting tigeraptors!

It seemed like days I was down there!! The orcs continuing to send more down into the mines....though I did notice they began to send guards with the miners. Perhaps they weren't as dumb as I thought?

Nope, nope, even watchmen didn't help them.

In the end, I had collected huge piles of velium! In fact, so much that I could barely walk out of the caverns.... so, slowly I hobbled back to Thurgadin, it was time to figure out what to do with it all.

With no smiths or brewers in sight...it was up to me to learn what to do. So in Thurgadin I studied brewing and smithing just enough that I could work with the eggs and velium I had gotten.

It was hard work!! But still not as hard as learning to fletch was -shrugs-

When all was said and done, I had my oil and my velium studs ...and of course my tigeraptor skins. Now, I had to find someone to sew it all together!!

After asking around a bit I was able to track down a crazy Iksar in the commonlands. Even better is he was willing to sew it all together for the extra velium and eggs and raptor skins I had found!! That was perfect for me, since I had spent all my platinum making the ingredients!

A little while later and he had sewn it all together!! My new tigeraptor armor was perfect for archery!

And....more importantly....dragon hunting....

It's time to get back to the wakening lands before Wuoshi wakes up!! The hunt is on!!!

I had been sitting in the wakening lands for days....just watching and tracking for signs of Wuoshi. When, suddenly, out of no where she flew down and landed in the forest. Wuoshi was awake!!!

I quietly watched her for hours while sending messages to warn others....and, more importantly, find help.

But, my warnings were of no use.... every now and then a wizard or druid would appear, and Wuoshi would quickly slay them....adding their bodies to the pile.

Humm...what was she doing though? Why a pile? Why wasn't she eating them?

And then it dawned on me....she was creating a nest of flesh to lay her eggs in!! Where they would feed once hatched and grow!! She had to be stopped!!!! But still no word of help had come....who would stop her?

More hours passed and I must have fallen asleep...because before I knew it, it was the next day....but Wuoshi was still there!!

A booming voice called out "Elf....I know you have been watching me. Come here."

It was Wuoshi!

I quickly climbed down the mountain and stood before her.

"What do you want with me elf? The only reason you are still alive is because I know of your battle with the giants....but don't assume you have free reign in these woods."

I replied quietly "Well...I heard....you had a legendary bow....I was just wondering...."

"YOU WANT MY TREASURE?!" she shouted

"You are like all adventurers! You will not have it! Do you not realize how quickly I could destroy you? A single bite, elf!!!!"

Trembling and clutching my bow I replied "I'm...I'm not afraid of you! I'm an archer of Kelethin! And I've come for the legendary Skydarkener!"

"Not afraid of me? YOU WILL BE!" she roared

Suddenly I was overtaken by fear....my elvish instincts taking control of my body and fleeing as fast as I could.

It looked like Wuoshi wasn't going to surrender her treasure without a fight....but, I couldn't do it alone!

More hours passed....and I met another archer who had taken the <Archers Vow>. It was a start, but we needed more still.

Luckily soon after word arrived of a mighty guild who had learnt of Wuoshis murderous rampage, and the nest of flesh she was creating. It was Awakened! And they were coming!!!

I quickly contacted the leader of their war band, surely two extra archers would be needed. They agreed, and soon after the <Archers Vow> officially had joined the growing battle party!

We were preparing our ambush at the giant city entrance...when suddenly shouts could be heard from the forest. Wuoshi was coming?!

It was madness!! We were all so close together!! Inside a narrow hallway!! Did they not know of Wuoshis poison breath?!

I ran out of the hallway and onto the hill outside....an archer knows better than to fight in the miasma of a dragon!!!!

Moments later Wuoshi arrived and entered the hallway. Sure enough, within seconds several of their band had fallen. But there was no time to mourn them, we were battling a dragon!!!

I followed behind Wuoshi and began shooting with my arrows. Staying out of range of her miasma.

I could hear echos of her roars and the sounds of battle bouncing off of the hallways walls....it was a mighty fight indeed!! And as I fired, I could see more adventurers fall.

But, in the end, we were victorious!! Wuoshi had been defeated!!!!!!!!

Only...when searching the body....I quickly learnt there was no Skydarkener. Wuoshi had hidden the legendary bow from me!!!! Knowing that I was after it!!!!!

So, the hunt continues. When Wuoshi awakens again, I'll be there....but next time I'll be even stronger. I won't rest until her bow is mine.

I just hope the dragon city doesn't hold this against me.

Tight guild, come to red. EQ has a history of class only pvp guilds. I believe there used to be a rogue only pvp guild back in the day. Would be cool to see a group of archers lay waste to someone.

Luckily I could tell another ranger was nearby! Surely with two archers he wouldn't stand a chance!!!

I tracked her down and she agreed to help...summoning some arrows for the fight. Odd I thought, what kind of archer doesn't already have arrows ready?

Oh well, I was sure it would be fine.

So together we tracked him down and began the fight again!!!!

But after only a couple of arrows...the ranger ran right at him!!!! Like some type of warrior!!!

It was insane!! She had lost her mind!!!! Everyone I was meeting today was insane!

And I was right, her health dropped a little faster than the assassins.....one wrong move and she would be dead! Did she know about the assassins backstabs?? Maybe she didn't!!!

But luckily I was there, and the assassin had already felt the sting of my arrows. As both of their healths dropped in a game of deadly chicken....the assassin knew even if he defeated her, he would have me to fight ....so he blinked first and decided to run.

His mistake! No one can run from a ranger!!!

After my battles with Wuoshi, I stayed in the Wakening Lands hunting tigeraptors outside of the Dragons city.

That was, until an Iksar shaman showed up looking for adventure.

This was my chance! To try and hunt holgreshes! And maybe get a strong wooden branch! (It is surprisingly hard to find strong wooden branches in a forest!)

So, we set out together to find the home of the holgreshes.

I had seen an area where they wandered around....it seemed like a good place to start.

And, sure enough, after some searching we found a cave nearby...

Of course, being a ranger, it was my job to go scout ahead. I could see their tracks everywhere, this was definitely the spot. Though, I was prepared for what I discovered inside....

They had an army!!

Me and the shaman decided the best way to stop them was to kill their general.....and the shaman knew how to lure him out alone.

It was a hard fight! But we were victorious!

After that, we kept hunting the lower ranking holgreshes....but....somehow none of them had strong wooden branches. Though, I did find a lot of their mojo sticks, which seemed pretty useful.

The only problem was after all of the hunting I was running low on arrows. So I waved goodbye to Pooma and I set out back to Thurgadin to restock.

But as I got near the great divide....I could sense something was wrong....there were giant tracks everywhere!!!

It seems with me gone from Thurgadin for so long, the giants decided to launch another attack on the dwarves!!! Was I too late?!

No! The fight was still going on! In fact, I could hear shouting as the giants greatest fighter was preparing to attack the <Awakened> defenders! I had to help them!!

Running as fast as I could, I got there just before the giants fighter showed up....shooting almost the rest of my arrows, we were victorious! The dwarf city was saved!!!!

Afterwards there was celebration and the greatest defender in the battle, an ogre named Spongee, was even rewarded with fancy dwarf treasure.

Happy the dwarves were saved this time, I went inside to restock for more adventure. As I was doing that and talking with some of the <Awakened> I started to hear rumors about a strange bow....

They said it was a "bow" you could even fight with up close....a weapon whose power could only be fully realized in the hands on an archer....I had never heard of something like that!! I had to have it!!!!

So they told me if I wanted one, I just had to gather a few things. How hard could that be?........it looked like it was time for another adventure!

It wasn't long until I found myself in Iceclad ocean....a place I didn't visit long. Cold waters? Icebergs? It really wasn't my favorite place....especially since I wasn't the best swimmer.

But, apparently the first piece to get the mythical "bow" was here somewhere. Seaworthy Planking? How hard could that be?

Days went by as I searched the icebergs..... swimming more than I ever had before! Rumors even said that seaworthy planking might have sunken to the bottom of the ocean.....so I checked there too....

I must have traveled across the Iceclad oceans a million times looking for something that looked seaworthy!! The gnomes didn't have it, the gnolls didn't have it, it wasn't on icebergs...or under icebergs....

What made it worse is every now and then I would see a ship pass by.....if only I could get a piece from that!!! ....but it was too fast to catch.

Exhausted from searching, I eventually fell asleep on one of the icebergs.

When I awoke the next day though....I was shocked to see plankings had washed up on the very iceberg I had fell asleep on!!!!! Right there in front of me! It was surely the work of Tunare! My first piece had been found!!!

The next thing I needed to find was some rope....a lot of it. Luckily I had heard stories of a ship carrying rope sinking in a place called Cobalt Scar.

Even better was that the entrance to the Cobalt Scar was through the Dragons City! After saving the dwarves and helping to kill the giants champion fighter...I was sure they would like me even more than before! (At least, as long as no one told them about what I did to Wuoshi).

So, I made my way back to the city as fast as I could.

When I got there I met another Iksar whom the dragons seemed to like too. It makes sense, Iksars are dragons too.

He told me he knew about the entrance to Cobalt Scar, but that it was locked....and the only way through was with a key.

After some investigating I discovered the key was being guarded by a drake. No problem! Elves are known for their negotiating skills!!!

But, when I found the drakes room...the Iksar was there already....and the drake seemed to be asleep....on the ground..... Oh well, no negotiating needed it seemed!!!!

I grabbed the key and within minutes I found myself standing in Cobalt Scar!!! It was time to find that ship!!!

Though, before that, I made an amazing discovery!!! Looking out of the window at the cliff in Cobalt scar....I discovered the cliff looks like a cat from above!!

Just pointing that out, it is pretty important.

My next discovery was Cobalt Scar was home to an entire civilization of Otter people!!!! The elves in Kelethin had never been told about Otter people!!!!!

Surely they would know more about any ships sinking around there...and they seemed nice enough.

So I went down to ask them if they had any information.

They told me to talk with their chief....I just had to figure out who that was....

And then I saw it.

It was amazing.

An otter person....with a magnificent hat!!! And fancy outfit! It had to be the chief!!! Who else would have such an amazing hat and be so fancy?!

These otter people were a great people indeed!!!

The chief said he knew about a few ships that had sunk....but said his otter divers had seen chests in the one just off shore. Seemed like a good place to start.

So, using my great swimming skills I had practice in the Iceclad Ocean...I swam out to see for myself.

I found the ship easy enough, and began to scout around. Sure enough, there were some treasure chests in it. It had to have the rope I needed!

The only problem is as I got close....the chests sprang to life and attacked me!! They were possessed!!!! Or, maybe they were always like that? Who ships monster chests?!

Anyhow, I knew how to handle this.....arrows!!! (And a few snares, which surprisingly still work on things without legs!)

It was a long fight, but in the end the chest was no match for my arrows. Carefully I reached inside, past the chests monster teeth, and pulled out its...guts? No no! It was rope! Over 100 feet of it!!!

All that was left was to find a huge drakes wing!!! ....but.....the only place to find that was.....the Western Wastes....

Even I had heard stories about the Western Wastes. Giant wurms....dragons....cliffs higher than a tower.....and, of course, just how dangerous it was to get there. Through the home of Sirens!

It was no place for an inexperienced archer.....but I wouldn't let that stop me!

My first step was to find out where this Sirens home was! I didn't think I could get through it...but, I had to at least go see.

I asked some wyverns if they had heard about it, and they told me just to swim along the cliffs....until I saw an underwater entrance.

That seemed....pretty easy to miss....and, actually I almost did!! But luckily I found what he had been talking about.

When I went inside, I realized rumors about getting through it were true....it looked pretty dangerous.

But, I could hear some people fighting inside!! Humm, maybe they could use an archer? But, on the other hand, I wasn't sure making sirens hate me was a good idea....well, they already didn't like me, but that is a big difference from wanting me dead on sight!

As I was trying to decide, a druid appeared! She had been fighting with deeper in the grotto and seen me nearby!! But, she had got separated from her group...which might have been my fault....

Luckily, her spells instantly teleported us through the grotto! It couldn't have worked out better!! And she was able to rejoin her group!

Even more fortunate was when I entered into the Western Wastes through the tunnel... I saw some more adventurers....they were from <Awakened> !! The same people I had fought with against Wuoshi!! And then the giant wars!!

They were surprised to see me there, having gotten through the Grotto while still having so much to learn. Upon finding out that I was hunting giant drakes, they offered to help me! And, they had two ogres with them!

Somehow, suddenly, I had a hunting party! Things were working out better than I had imagined!

It was time to hunt these giant drakes....and prepare for the battle.

Finding them was surprising easy, since they seemed to be watching the entrance to the grotto. Tunare definitely was on my side today.

So, we sent one of the ogres out to bait them. Giant drakes love eating ogres I hear.

But, there was a problem....the smaller drakes wouldn't leave the side of Tranala! The giant drake!

I knew what I had to do....I ran out of the cave we had set the ambush in and began to calm the smaller drakes as best I could!

My distraction must have worked, because moments later we were able to lure Tranala into the cave....the worse place for a giant drake! Since the close walls gives it no room to fly!!

Though, maybe it was her who was trapping us? Because the close cave walls also helped her channel her icey breath .....at least on the others, I made sure to keep my distance (an archer doesn't fall for such tricks!).

Indeed, the fight was close! Naethyn almost falling a few times, but managing to stay alive!

After a long fight, filled with arrows... we did it!! Tranala was defeated! And I had her wing!!

It was time to travel further into the wastes...to find the stranded gnomes I had heard about, and bribe their unique "bow" from them.

We camped in the cave till daylight came, and as the sun rose....we set out into the open wastes. It would be a long journey.

I was in awe of the icey formations and beautiful landscapes.

Not only that, but dragons were everywhere!! Roaming free!! I had never seen so many of them! Not even in the dragons city!!!

Along with the beauty though, also came danger. Giant wurms were crawling everywhere.....looking for adventurers to eat. I had heard they could sneak up on you and eat you before you even realized what had happened!

It was obvious we needed help.....the dragons? They liked me well enough, maybe...just maybe....

So, I found the nearest dragon I could and began talking to him.

He was actually very nice!! He could tell I was a friend, and even offered to give us a ride across the wastes!!

"Don't worry, the wurms won't bother you with me nearby little elf" he told me.

Eventually we made it to the other side of the wastes to the nesting grounds. Our chaperon leaving us to continue our journey.

Dragons? In nests?! I had never seen it before!! It was amazing!! Humm, if only I could get one of their eggs I thought....I could bring it back to Kelethin, the elves would never have to worry with a dragon as a guardian!

I couldn't imagine the dragons surrendering one of their eggs so easily though...

So, I approached one of the dragons nesting ....

"You know, you look pretty hungry....I'll watch your eggs for you if you wanted to go find something to eat" I said.

She stared at me for a moment....considering .... "You will elf? Thank you!"

And with that she flew down to the ocean to catch some fish.

This was my chance!!! I quickly grabbed one of the eggs and piled as much snow as I could to replace it!! Then, before she returned, I continued on to find the ship! I'm sure she wouldn't mind....probably....

Either way, this was much more important for the elvish empire!!! The baby dragon would have a good life! Eating crushbone orcs!

I continued down the shoreline of the Wastes for some time.... until finally, I saw it....the stranded treasure ship!!

They were the ones with the strange contraption! Had they invented it? Found it? I didn't know....but I knew I had what they wanted.

Most of them were too busy trying to repair things to pay me much attention.

But it only took a small chat with the captain to come to an agreement. I had his planks, his rope, and the giant drake wing I had heard they were after....and for it, they agreed to give me their strange weapon.

My mission had been a success!!! Whatever this thing was, I was going to master it!

After that, I stayed by the shoreline exploring for a while....and soon dusk came.

In the distance, I could see a faint light.....people, were fighting dragons?!

I got closer and discovered an ogre, a dwarf, and an iksar fighting them!

But I saw the iksar was in trouble! Twice iksars had helped me already....I had to save him! If even it meant the dragon!! Though, it looked like the dragon was badly hurt already....so, it was inevitable anyhow.

Firing off a few arrows, the dragon was struck down....his body falling into the shallows of the ocean.

In thanks, they gave me the talisman the dragon had been holding and offered to take me back to Thurgadin. Another treasure? It really was my lucky day!!!

Finally, the adventure had come to a finish!!! Now I could relax....pfft, who needs that? It was time to celebrate like a dwarf!!!! Drinks for everyone!!!

As always, I was returning to the wakening lands to continue my hunt after another of my trips to Thurgadin to buy more arrows.

Though, this time, as I snuck through the giants city....I noticed a band of adventurers. One of them being Pooma from the other day fighting holgreshes! They were planning to attack the heart of the giants city!

Humm, I knew Wuoshi wasn't awake, so of course I offered to escort them in their battle against the giants.

As we made our way deeper into the city, we knew we would need inside help...but who?

It was then we devised a plan!! We would wipe the memory of one of the giants! And fool him into believing he was one of us!!!

We laid a trap and lured a Sergeant close....then ambushed him! First, we would shrink him...and then our enchanter would work her magic!! But, as the shrink was cast....it misfired and hit me!!!

Oh well, another shrink and the giant had been subdued....I was sure it would wear off eventually....though it was kind of nice feeling like a gnome for a while.

While the shrink wasn't 100 percent on the giant....when he came to, we convinced him he was one of our barbarians....and that the evil giants had hit him over the head. We told him he had a mission to do and he needed to get to work.

And with that, we had found ourselves a powerful ally for the battle into the giants city heart!!

Giant after giant fell as we fought deeper....my arrows flying from my bow faster than ever before!

Our target was the great giant Prophet....but first, we needed to clear his guards.

More fighting ensued , we were like ants to the great giants!! But biting ants, and also ants with arrows...and magic....we were really dangerous ants.

And then...suddenly.....a message came from one of my spies....."Wuoshi is awake!!!"

How could this happen now?! The timing....was horrible!!

I had to make a choice....to continue in the battle against the giants, or go to battle Wuoshi once more!!!

I had to go!! I had to fight Wuoshi again and try to find the legendary bow!!!!!

But, how would I get out?! We were so far into the giants city....and guards had returned behind us who would see even the invisible.... I knew I wouldn't make it, but, but I had to try!!

"Wait!! You can't do it alone!! But maybe, with my help!!" Pooma said as she stood up

"No!! You can't!! It is too dangerous! This is my duty! Not yours!" I told her....but she wouldn't listen...her mind was made up.

There was little time to argue, the battle with Wuoshi was soon....we had to go now!

She lead the way, distracting the giants onto her as I followed behind.....more than I had even expected!

But as we ran, eventually the giants saw me too. It was too much!!

As I ran down the slope, I could hear the sounds of spells being cast behind me....and I was too hurt to survive another hit....moments later, I was knocked unconscious.

When I woke, I was without my equipment in Skyshrine! How? What had happened?? And Pooma? Was she ok?!

Obviously the dragons must have saved me!! Surely Pooma was ok too.... But oh why couldn't they have gotten my bow!

I knew the battle with Wuoshi was about to start if it hadn't already begun!!!! And I was naked, on the other side of the Wakening lands!!!

There was only one person who could help me now....Tunare....

I ran as quick as I could to the Temple of Tunare, rumored to be the entrance to the planes themselves!! Knowing that if she could hear me, it would be there....

Climbing to the top of the temple I called out before the sacred tree "Tunare!! Please! I need your help!! The battle with Wuoshi is about to begin!"

There was silence....

And then....a gentle voice whispered..."My little elf, I will help you....place your hand upon this sacred Tree".

I did as the voice said and instantaneously I found myself in front of the giants city!! Tunare had saved me!!

I concealed myself and ran inside, finding my equipment within moments and returning to the Wakening Lands to join the hunting party of <Bregan D'aerth> as official archer support. I had made it in time!!!!!

Bouncing with excitement we prepared ourselves for the battle....and before long, we could hear Wuoshis roar coming from the forest.....she was coming.

This time the battle party knew better than to try and fight Wuoshi within closed spaces....the miasma would be much easier to avoid.

But still, it was a hard fight!! I saw several adventurers fall to Wuoshis maisma....one archer in particular who hadn't taken the high ground with me.

Seeing her death, I knew Wuoshi had to be stopped! With great strength I let loose another half dozen arrows...and finally...Wuoshi had fallen again!

While we were victorious, Wuoshi had hidden her legendary bow from me again.

But my will wasn't shaken! I wouldn't give up! Some day I would see the Skydarkener!! And maybe own it for myself!!

This is an amazing adventure!!!

It was another day in the icey lands of Velious...which meant another day of adventure!

It wasn't long after I woke up that I heard my bow was needed in the Frozen Tower. So, that is where I found myself first. I'm usually not the biggest fan of closed spaces...but....an archers gotta do what an archers gotta do!

It was there I joined with my hunting party, our mission was to attack the queen of the tower!

Luckily the Fortitude the gnome had some keys to get us through the magic mirrors, letting us sneak right to the top floor....they would never expect us!!!

We quickly got to work dispatching of the strange minions. The lizard warriors took a strange pleasure in kicking the torches from the invisible monsters hands.

But....as we got near the queen....we could tell something was wrong.....her guards were missing!!!

Then, as we turned the corner....we saw it.....the tower already had an ogre infestation!!! And Super Friends!!!!

Oh well..... I guess the queen was already dead..... I had come all the way to the tower for nothing!!!!

Suddenly, I got word from one of my spies....<Bregan D'Aerth> was battling the Vindicator in the giant city!!! And worse, the Vindicator had pushed them back once already!!!! They needed my help!!!

Our lizard friends were too worn out from the long walk and cold (I guess lizard people don't do so well in the cold)....so it was up to me and Fortitude to get there in time to save <Bregan D'Aerth>....but we had to hurry!!!!!!

We ran as fast as we could and soon found ourselves in the giant city....but there was a problem.....the path to the hunting party was guarded by giants that we could never sneak past unnoticed.

"Rosen! I will distract them so you can reach the hunting party!" Fortitude said boldly.

"No! We have to make it together!! You will never survive distracting them for me!!" I replied.

"There is no other way" he said, turning away from me so I couldn't see the tears running down his face.

I knew he was right....it was the only way....but I promised him I would find a cleric to fix his gnomish body if I made it through!

And with that, Fortitude ran into the giants with a mighty battle roar, distracting them to the right as I ran left to join the battle party.

But...as I ran...I started to noticed most of the giants were killed already....and only one guard was at its post trying to moosh Fortitude.

"GNOMEY! IT IS OK!! BRING THE GIANT!! YOU DON'T HAVE TO DIE!!" I yelled

The hall was silent.....

Then, suddenly, Fortitude came running around the corner with the giant guard behind him!!! He was alive!!! But barely!!!! Just enough for the war party to ambush the giant and save his life! There would be no need for gnome body fixing today!

And with that, we had made it in time! <Bregan D'Aerth> had their archery and gnome support!

But, not just me...it seemed they had another ranger there....with a fancy hat. I was jealous.

And they also had these two wizards.....one was old, and one was young....but....high elves are strange! This is how cults start you know!

Anyhow, the war party began to lure away the temples guardians...one by one ambushing them in the hallway....their armor no match for my arrows.

Eventually the Vindicator himself was lured down into the hallway....but this time he stood no chance!! Against my arrows and the might of <Bregan D'Aerth>, along with a gnome, he was quickly vanquished!!

After the battle with the Vindicator was over... gnomey and I were still looking for adventure....luckily, so was one of the <Bregan D'Aerth>, Eadras!

This was my chance!! To finally find the strong wooden branch I had tried to find so many times before!!

So, we went out into the Wakening Lands and made our way to the holgresh caves...

I knew Eadras was a mighty archer as well...but it was still surprising to see how fast the holgreshes died to us!!

I waved goodbye to my adventuring partners, they were too worn out to continue...but I had a mission to do.

I had found strong raptor guts before from all of my time hunting tigeraptors...and now with this strong wooden branch, I knew just the snowfang that needed them!! So I set out for the iceclad ocean again!!!

But, as I was running....a blizzard began to brew! The thing is, even for an elf blizzards can make it hard to navigate....

Time started to slip by....it had seemed like I was running a lot further than usual..... was it possible?....I.....was lost.....

I was doomed! Surely I would be lost forever!! Roaming the icey lands of the iceclad sea ....

Soon, rumors would begin to surface of an ice elf that had lost her mind....ambushing adventurers and commanding an army of snow rabbits......I had to resign myself to my fate.....

As I was dreading my future, I suddenly saw some tracks of an adventurer!!! Maybe they were less lost?! I followed them...and soon came upon a landmark I knew!! I was saved!!!!

Eventually the storm passed and I could see again, quickly finding the snowfang that needed the strong branch and raptor guts.

After giving them to him though, an enraged walrus attacked!!! I'm pretty sure I could have handled it myself...but the snowfangs were nice enough to help.

To thank me for all I had done, the snowfangs gave me a piece of a book about how to talk like a pirate. Lucky for me I was pretty sure I just so happened to know a gnome that was studying pirate talk, arrrr.

When I gave her the page, she was so excited that she was able to repair the book she had borrowed! She gave me the book to give back to another gnome....but first, I had to study some pirate too (just in case).

Feeling good about having helped the gnomish pirates learn more about pirating I started to head back across the iceclad ocean.

But...as I ran....I saw a strange group of adventurers just sitting around. It was strange, I've been to the ocean a lot and never seen so many just looking at icebergs.

Apparently they were hunting some type of giant turtle.

As I looked around some more, I saw what they had done.....they had created an unholy ball to bait the turtle awake!!!!!!

Skeletons, cougars, elves, wolves, TINY BEARS, and elementals were all forced underwater to tempt the turtles appetite!!!

Tunare would never stand for this!!!!!! The skeletons and elementals were probably ok....but the rest definitely wasn't!!!!!!!!!

"Run away! Don't let them do this to you!!" I pleaded with the creatures, but they didn't move....they were brainwashed by their masters....

Oh well, I guess if I couldn't save the bait ball....I would help fight the turtle instead! So none of them were hurt!!

Offering my services as archery support, I joined one of the hunting parties....the hunt was on!!!

We didn't have to wait too long though....for soon, I saw something begin to emerge from the depths....

It was a massive shell!! Rising up from the ocean!! Lozidazle? Lodizle? Lodi was here! And for a turtle, she was fast! And hungry!!!

Shooting arrows as quickly as I could, the battle began......the lizard monk facing off against her head to head, and he wasn't winning!

I paused my archery for a moment to heal him with my magic...but it wasn't enough.

Luckily though, the bear also knew magic and joined me in keeping him alive!

Eventually we got the situation under control and defeated her....we were victorious!!!

And, even though I had joined just to help out in the battle....the party let me get some of the turtles treasure!!!! Today was a lucky day!!! How could it possibly be any more lucky?!

With all the adventuring, I was getting pretty tired.... but the new adventurers I met in hunting the great turtle had other ideas....

They began talking about the legendary pegasus in the plains of karana. I had heard about her before, but never tried to hunt her....from what I knew, she only woke up very rarely....and even for a master ranger, finding her was difficult!

But, they talked about their special pegasus bait...my curiosity was piqued! I had to see it!!!!

And with that, we soon found ourselves in the plains of Karana....splitting the bait they had between us all. We simply had to keep it in our pockets they said....and we would be sure to find the pegasus in no time.

It seemed strange to me.....but....worth a shot I guess....

Anyhow, the plains were a nice change from the icey landscapes of velius....I had been there for so long.....

But we had a mission to do! We were hunting for a legendary pegasus!!

We separated and I began to search....when, in the distance, I thought I saw something!! It was a gnome!!!

But as I approached....I realized it wasn't a gnome at all.....it was a gnome tree instead!!!

Soon night fell as I wandered the plains looking for any signs of the pegasus. Eventually I came upon a centaur village. I hadn't met centaurs before, but it was obvious they were a great people by their dedication to archery!

Perhaps they might know something!

They said the pegasus had been seen near the camp before, but none of their archers dared attack it.

So, after spending a short time warming up by their fire....I set out again to look for the legendary creature with the pegasus bait in my pocket.

Suddenly, from nowhere, it appeared!! It was Quillmane!! The hunters bait had worked!!!!

Between my arrows and my hunter parties strength, we quickly defeated her!

Today was the luckiest day!! From ice towers, to fighting giants, to fighting giant turtles, to hunting legendary creatures.....it would be hard to top such a day of adventuring!!!

I want everyone, everyone to take note of this. THIS is what p99 should be about. Not crazy FTE raid madness, but adventuring in Norrath with friends and strangers alike. Just having adventures and having fun. Look at how much she has done just by lending her bow in time of need.

I'd gotten tired from so much adventuring a bit ago.... so decided to go back to Kelethin for a little bit to rest.

But, I just couldn't stay away for long!! I was on a quest to become a great archer! I would never become one if I spent all my time relaxing in the greatest city in Norrath!

So I returned to the wakening lands last week to begin my hunt again....immediately going to the dragon rings to look for signs of Wuoshi. When I got there I noticed some fresh corpses, maybe only a day old....with claw marks....You see, when you become a dragon hunter you become much more sensitive to little things like that....it was surely a sign of Wuoshi!

I must have just missed him...but my knowledge of dragon patterns told me that he would be back in less than a week....and I'd be waiting.

A week passed and I returned, taking my spot on the hill I always watched for Wuoshi from.

Hours passed.....then half of the day...then the entire day....Wuoshi was nowhere to be seen! Had I missed him again while sleeping?! It was a long shot, but I guessed I would try again the next day....there wasn't much else to do....I had to find him!

The next day came and again more hours passed....then half a day....then the entire day!!! Had I missed him again?! It was almost time for sleep....but....just a little longer, I couldn't give up before midnight!!!

Just as I was beginning to pack up my arrows and leave for the day, I saw something emerge from the forest.....a giant? An ogre? A giant ogre?

No! It was Wuoshi!!! He had appeared!!!! I didn't miss him after-all!!

I was so excited! I rushed out to talk with him again! Surely me being such good friends with the dragons now, he might just give me his secret treasure?

"Wuoshi! Give me the bow!! I'm not going to give up!!!"

But Wuoshi refused....it looked like we would have to battle again....but I would need help...

I sent messages out to <Archers Vow> ally <Awakened> to see if they were nearby. I had fought with them before, and I knew they were the mightiest adventurers in the world.

I got word back that they were far away....but they could come. The only problem was Wuoshi had learnt of our plans and was guarding the druids ring....something had to be done....

Summoning all of my elvish power, I locked Wuoshi in a calming state. Over and over again I used my magic ....I was....controlling a dragon!!!

<Awakened> soon arrived and got to work setting up an ambush for the dragon. There weren't too many of us....I could tell it would be a hard fight.

Eventually we lured Wuoshi into our trap.....but this time Wuoshi was prepared!!! Wuoshi used ingenious dragon strategy, fearing and miasmaing in unusual fashion! We were forced to retreat!

We had to be careful ....we were fighting a dragon after all!

We quickly regrouped though and again lured the dragon out.....

Though, little did we know that before our second attack...Wuoshi had been eating druids at the ring to strengthen himself....when he came to us again, he was strong....stronger than I had ever seen!!!!

The battle waged for what seemed like an eternity!! It was the greatest battle I'd ever witnessed! I did what I could, staying back on the hill filling the sky with arrows....

Suddenly a great roar echoed through the forest, Wuoshi was angry! As always, my feet took control of themselves....and I began to run.....but this was different than I had ever experienced before....I didn't run away....no, I ran TOWARDS the dragon!!!!!!!!!

Straight into the battle the roar sent me!! It seemed I wasn't the only one that had learnt new strategies....Wuoshi had too!!!!!

Wuoshi turned his head towards me as he fought the others, staring at me for a moment as he gave a little grin....he....he had planned this?!

Just then I realized what he was grinning about! The miasma!!!!!! It shot out from his mouth and filled the area!! Choking me!!!! I had to escape!!!!!!!!!!!!! I was already at half life!!!! One more...and.....it would be over!!!!!!

I pulled myself together and regained control....running off into the forest as I pelted him with more arrows. I swear I could hear him chuckle.....he would pay for that!!!

The problem is as I ran out into the forest....a giant suddenly appeared and ambushed me!!! As if a dragon wasn't enough!

But they don't call me Windstep for nothing! I darted around the outskirts of the battle continuing to focus on the dragon.....the giant close behind me but unable to match my elvish speed.

I knew one more roar and I would be finished....even without the miasma, if I lost control of myself the giant would end me....we had to finish this battle!

Luckily Wuoshi was being worn down. I summoned all of my strength and fired my last few shots.....

Moments later, Wuoshi fell.....we had defeated him!!!!!!! With the dragon taken care of, the giant was easily put down as well.

As I was focusing on recovering from the battle, the rest of the party had gathered around Wuoshi. All of a sudden everyone broke out in cheers!

It was the bow!!! The skydarkener!!!!! They discovered Wuoshi had kept it on him!!!

And more, they knew it was the legendary treasure I was after for so long!!! Apparently before the battle even began they had agreed to give me the legendary weapon were it found....I was shocked!

I had hunted Wuoshi for so long..... and finally.....I had achieved what I set out to do! A new bow of great power!!!

After everyone had left, I ran off into the forest to hunt some tigeraptors. I had to see what the bow could do....

I was amazed!!!!!!! It truly is a legendary weapon!!!!! Stronger than I ever imagined!!!!!!

I hadn't even prepared to actually find it!!! Before the battle ended I was already making plans for hunting Wuoshi again and again!!

I wonder where I should go now that I'm not tied to the Wakening Lands any longer....I wonder where my adventures will take me, now that I have such a powerful weapon.

Humm, I don't know....what non ranger could use archery in the same way? Warriors can critical, but they don't get access to spells (which is so important with archers to supplement the damage between shots and control things).

Paladins can root...but they can't critical and they don't have DD spells to help out.

Shadow knights can snare and kite with pets....so I could actually see a hate-kiting SK work pretty ok with archery. Just keep using the disease spell to out-agro the pet and keep it on them as they archery around.

Oh my goodness, now that I really think about it...shadowknights could be pretty good archers!! It wouldn't be easy, but the pets adding damage I bet they could do impressive stuff!! Though their archery skill before level 51 is capped at 75.....so...that kind of hurts a lot.

Now I want to be a shadowknight archer :| It would be legendary :|

I wouldn't fear kite (since the fear costs so much mana and lasts maximum 18 seconds). Hate-kiting would be more reliable. A couple disease clouds and dots and it should out-agro the pet super easily.

After getting my amazing bow...I decided to travel back to Kunark for some adventure.

I wasn't quite sure where to go, but stumbled across a cave of yetis when I arrived and figured it would be a good enough place to start.

The thing is, yetis are sometimes bigger than they first appear....

But it was no problem!! Against an elvish archer with the legendary dragons bow, the Skydarkener, they stood no chance!!

I stayed hunting in the caves for a day or so, eventually finding them too easy to fight.

So I traveled to the Karnors Castle to try and hunt there! I had seen people hunting around there and figured it would be a good spot for me too.

Turns out I was right!! And hunting around the castle was perfect for me!

The only problem was the field was crawling with monsters! Spiders being the most dangerous....but I'd been lucky and avoided them. Except for one time when I was saving a lost traveler named Sirken from some brutes. I stopped the brute, but then had to retreat...leaving him behind. My best guess is he was eaten by spiders.

After that I went back to hunting....

That was until one night after having hunted for a while, I foolishly let my guard down while finding a new target to shoot...and somehow I was ambushed by several creatures!!!!

How could this happen!? Luckily though, none were spiders....

It looked like it was time to show them the power of an elvish archer!!! But 4 of them? I'd never tried to fight so many at once.....then again, I'd never wielded a legendary dragons bow before either!!!

As I shot arrow after arrow, the sky slowly darkened...and then suddenly lightning bolt after lightning bolt strike the group of enemies!!!

Was this the true power of this bow?! Able to bring down lightning on groups of enemies?!

The battle waged for a while, but my elvish speed was too much for them to keep up with! Combined with my legendary power, they were helpless!

I think tonight was a new milestone....able to fight groups of enemies at once!! I'd never heard of an archer like that before.....was I....the first? I would have to practice and become a master of this new fighting technique to learn the true extent of its strength.

After the battle I was running out of arrows though and decided to head back to Firiona Vie to restock on arrows. They knew me pretty well from all the time I had spent defending them before, it almost felt like a 2nd home besides Kelethin.

Though...as I approached Firiona Vie...I noticed something strange.....it was a group of people? Were they new to the city? There were so many of them! Just standing in the rain! I was curious...

As I got close...I saw they were doing strange rituals.....what was happening?! Half of them held fishing poles, and they were speaking gibberish! Was this a cult?! I'm pretty sure it was a cult.

It has to be a viable archer :) The original idea was to bring back archery, as a real force in Norrath! Not just a pulling toy, but something truly effective!

So the guild is for people who use archery as a main way to play on their characters. It isn't required to use all the time, but it should be one of the major tools they use.

From just number crunching, it seems like ranger is one of the only ones able to keep their archery effective (especially higher level as they get double damage at 51, and then trueshot later).

In theory, a shadow knight archer could be interesting (especially if they found a decent bow). I could see them being pretty effective to solo with till 50...but then a big drop-off in power after that compared to rangers (though, still, I bet their pet could fill in some of the gaps).

Still...no other class can go trueshot + double damage + crits + DD spells and actually rise to an impressive archery display at higher levels!

Like just at level 52, a ranger archer can cast a 302dd between shots, stack 36 damage a tick dots, and reliably shoot for an average 100 damage in a group setting.....and 184 dd proc (if they have legendary dragon bows!)......that is pretty strong!!! ((And gets even stronger once they get Trueshot and can go full power mode! Leaving other classes in the dust in archery).

If they run low on mana, they are also able to slow down on casts and med between shots instead.

That is why ranger archer works, they are the best with a bow (double damage and higher skill cap and crits)....but they also have a host of spells that match perfectly with the longer delay on a bow that is almost like a 2nd attack (so they don't lose attack rounds to casting).

Other classes just can't do the same things from ranged using bows to fill in the gaps in their damage (except shadow knight, but they have some big problems in terms of skill caps and other vulnerabilities....still, it is something that MIGHT be possible).

Being an archer isn't just shootin with a bow. That is only part of it.

Now that I had finally reached level 49....I returned home to Kelethin to learn more elvish magic.....and there, I discovered new amazing powers!! Such as being able to turn into a wolf!!!!!

Though I was happy with my new abilities.... while I was studying I heard rumors of a legendary spell....a fire arrow, stronger than anything I had! Even mightier than my dragons bow lightning!! It was known as, "the call of flame".

I learnt that the only person who knew the spell was a ranger known as Ganelorn Oast. I'd never met him before, but some of the other rangers in the elvish hall knew all about him and wanted to learn it from him too....

I had to have it first!!

They said he lived in East Karana....so I quickly left Kelethin, making sure none of the other rangers saw me, and began my next adventure!

Karana sure had become strange though....

When I finally found Ganelorn, it turned out other rangers had already gotten to him!! And to make things worse....he wanted me to help get things to help train them!!

Oh well, if it is what would get me closer to the call of flame....I agreed....

First on my list was the fabled Electrum-Bladed Wakizashi from a dark elf in Mistmoore.

It didn't take me long to find him, sneaking around the castle with my new spells.

It turned out he was there to kill his parents!! Because they kicked him out of the castle!!

Seemed a little extreme..... but if that is what he wanted done for the Wakizashi....I guess I could shoot some vampires -shrug-

That is when another ranger showed up!! Obviously sent here by Ganelorn too!!! Competition!!!!!!

But, the castle was a pretty dangerous place....so we agreed to team up and share the vampire teeth. Maybe the crazy dark elf had a second weapon laying around.

And, of course, both using our bows! As true rangers should!!! I even found as a wolf I was still a pretty good archer -flex- Maybe a little too good.....as we soon noticed our arrows were starting to pierce the stone walls!!!!!

Oh well, after a while in the castle we had found and killed the weird dark elves parents...and got their teeth. Except we were short one and Wooly gave me an extra tooth, so we might have to go back again sometime.

End of the day, mission was accomplished!! I was one piece closer to proving myself to Ganelorn!!

I buy a bit over 1k arrows each time I go to restock. It lasts maybe 2-3 yellows when solo exping? Luckily there are arrow merchants all around Norrath!

The next item Ganelorn had told me he wanted was a burnt sash from an imp protector in Nagafen's lair.

With my dragons bow, I was feeling pretty confident I could get one of those. Sure I had heard about the imp protectors....how difficult they could be....but that was always coming from non-archers! Things tend to be a lot less dangerous to those with a bow.

So, after hopping on the nearest druid, I was ready to get the burnt sash!!!

But...as I entered the lair...I could tell by the fletching on the ground that another ranger was here as well.....it didn't take me long to figure out who either....

Around the corner I saw him, Tineron the Shy! (:P) I had talked to him a bit before, always anonymous....sneaking around....I was sure he was there for the same reason I was!! Ganelorn must have sent him too!!

Well, it was probably for the best.... a dragons lair is even more dangerous than the castle of vampires....so we decided to team up.

After a while of fighting bats and beetles, we struggled to get further into the lair with only two bows.

Even worse is I discovered my dragons bow and powers were greatly suppressed inside of the lair!!! I was crippled! Only a fraction of my normal strength!!!

Eventually it grew late, and we decided to try again in the morning....though, not before I ran to the bank to find my old huntsmans bow. If I was going to try again, I needed a backup.

The next day I woke up and looked for Tineron....but he wasn't nearby. I could tell he had woken up before me though. I knew he must have gone into the lair by himself! Trying to get the sash before me!!!

Luckily I met a dark elf near the entrance to the lair who agreed to join me to find Tineron. He was pretty strong too, commanding a monsterous elemental!! It was even stronger than my bow!!! Though, I assume only because the lair was suppressing its power.

Spiders....bats....beetles....even a noxious spider!! We killed quite a few things until we found Tineron hiding in one of the corners of the lair near the goblins city.

He hadn't found his sash yet either. Of course having no better luck alone than we had together.

But this time! With Shadowgreys help, we would be sure to make it to the imps!!!

It didn't take too long to work our way down to the lava pools...right before where the imps lived....but we had another problem.....it was going to be hard to get fewer than 3 at a time....

Just then I saw a monk run past me!!! What was a person doing running around the lair this deep alone?!

It was Freeform! A monk of <Awakened>!!! Maybe he wanted to join our imp hunting party!

I shouted down the hall he had run to come back, to join us. He shouted back "Ok!!" and suddenly we had a 4th member to our party!

What followed was nothing short of an imp and lava guardian massacre! They had no chance against 2 archers, an elemental master, and a monk!!

By the end of the day, both me and Tineron had found our sashes.... just one piece left needed for Ganelorn and finally I would learn how to call the flames!!! Oddly enough though.... I could already feel myself gaining stronger control of the minor fire spells I had....

As I was preparing to go on my next adventure for Ganelorn....I heard that there was a fellow wood elf that had discovered some disturbing news in Kunark....in a place called the Burning Woods.

I was told the news was urgent! So left immediately....traveling to my old hunting grounds the dreadlands, and then onto the woods.

There I met Telin Darkforest....who told me that forests across Norrath were being twisted and polluted!! That a darkness was spreading!!!

I wondered if it was Innoruuk.....

Telin agreed, it had to be!!

He quickly scribbled down a note for me to take to a woman named Faelin Bloodbriar in Faydark....apparently a great adventurer!

So, I left him and went to find Faelin.

When I got to greater faydark though, I met a druid that had also talked to Telin and been given a note for Faelin....apparently Telin didn't trust this druid, since he sent me too.

After searching for a day or two, we eventually found her....and she gave us a ring to take to a dark elf she knew named Giz X'Tin in the Kithicor forests....that he would know what Innoruuk was planning and the ring would convince him to talk to us.

It seemed a bit odd she would trust a dark elf ...but....we had no other choice! The world was at risk!!!!

It was night when we arrived in Kithicor....and it was overrun by powerful undead creatures! Obviously it was Innoruuk trying to stop us from finding the dark elf!!!!

Though, while they were strong...they were no match for my bow.

Eventually we found Gix X'Tin running around the forest....another strange sign....how hadn't the undead gotten him?!

Something didn't feel right.....

We approached him and gave him the ring....and in return he gave us a coin? Saying Innoruuk had told him we were coming....and the coin was to repay an old debt.....but that we wouldn't need to worry for long....

Suddenly another dark elf sprung out from behind a tree!!! And attacked us!!!! It was an assassin!!!!!! A Teir'Dal Reaver!

Surely two wood elves would be more than enough to handle an assassin!! So we began to fight.....

But we were wrong!! The reaver was stronger than we had imagined!!! With powers to summon us to him directly!!!

Kadest seemed to have his attention....but we had to run!

As I ran, I could hear the reaver shouting as he summoned Kadest to him....over and over again.....

No!! I couldn't leave him alone!!! I wouldn't let Kadest die!!!

I turned around and ran back to Kadest....we were getting out of this together! Or not at all!!!!!

Somehow we made it away...as the reaver stopped his summoning...was it Tunare? Had she saved us?!

Either way, this was more serious than I had thought! It was definitely Innoruuk!! He had to be stopped!

We both went to the entrance of Rivervale to recover...and as we sat there, more of Kadests guild began to arrive.

Had they heard of our troubles? Did they come to defeat the dark elf??

Kind of....apparently they were after another dark elf that lived in the forest....a general.

This was a perfect chance to strike back at the dark elves for trying to assassinate us though!! And before long, we had a large force!! With even an ogre!!!

They lured the general out of hiding in the woods...and he was no match for my arrows and the force of the army that had come! Elementals, skeletons, even a couple gnomes!!

Overall, things worked out pretty ok for now.....I think I should talk to Telin again though.... I have a feeling this is only the beginning....

Kadest and I spent the night in Rivervale....deciding it was best to figure out Innoruuks plans in the morning.

When we woke up the next day, he said he needed something from Kaladim first....so away we went!!

It is pretty nice traveling with a druid, everything seems so much closer!!

When we got there though....the first thing he did was pick a fight with the banker!!!!

I wasn't quite sure what it was all about....but I couldn't let Kadest die before we could stop Innoruuk! So I healed his wounds a little. The banker definitely didn't like that too much..... but what did he want me to do?! I couldn't let another wood elf get beat up!!

After that we considered going back to the Burning Woods to talk to Telin....but...we also knew we would need to be our strongest if we were to stop Innoruuk!!

I told Kadest about my quest to learn the Call of Flame and how I only needed one more item for Ganelorn.....maybe if we got that first , it would better prepare us for what was coming next!!

So we left to seek out the last item....a ring from the giant hand at the bottom of old guk....

I had hunted in the upper parts of guk when I was a younger archer, but it had been so long since I was there...and traveling down to the ghoul frogs was always too dangerous.

We soon arrived in the swamp near guk and I followed Kadest ....

It seemed like we were traveling a lot longer through the swamp than it normally takes though!! In fact, I was almost positive I had seen some of the trees twice on our rout there!!!!!

I don't want to say Kadest got lost.....but he sure had a creative way of navigating swamps....

Oh well, eventually we made it!! And after drinking a couple invisibility to undead potions.....we snuck deep down into the dungeon.

I was surprised to see when we got there that the ghouls seemed a little more dead than usual.....

Had another ranger beaten us here?!

After looking around a bit, we discovered it wasn't another ranger....just a lizard and druid hiding in the corner..... guk was a pretty strange place.....

We soon found the room the hand was said to live in after that. Somehow a pool of water floating above us guarding it.....

Yup, Guk really was pretty strange....

Oh well, wood elves are renown for our great swimming abilities!!! Having been forced to often swim the channels of Crushbone for our lives!!!

After setting up, we lured the hand down through the water....the battle had begun!!!!!! Even better, I could clearly see the hand had a ring!!!

I shot arrow after arrow! Remembering to switch to my hunting bow instead of my dragons bow....knowing the dragons bow power would be suppressed!

First the hand fell.....and then all that was left was the knight....

Once the fight had finished I bent down to take the ring from the defeated foe....

But as I tried to grip it....my hand passed through the ring!! And then, the ring vanished!! It was an illusion!!!!!

Had the hand been using its magic to create a false ring?!

This was a problem...a big problem!!! We decided to rest a bit as we thought out what to do next....

After a little bit we heard fighting further down the hallway..... someone was having trouble....

We rushed down the hall and discovered a troll!! Who was attempting to battle the lords room alone!!! And the troll was losing!!!

Obviously we couldn't just let the troll perish to the ghouls!! So we stepped in!! Trying to control the situation as best we could....

I channeled as much of my power into the troll to heal its wounds.....and Kadest did his best to try and root the other ghouls.....but the troll panicked and backed into even more ghouls!!

Soon the troll fell....leaving me and Kadest.....

"Teleport us!!! Hurry!!"

"I'm out of mana!!"

It was the last thing I heard as the largest ghoul closed down on me....sinking my feet into the ground ....the last of my power draining away to try and close my wounds.....

And then things went dark.....

The next thing I knew I was in the upper parts of guk with Kadest......but nothing could see us.....were we ghosts?!?! We had to be ghosts!!!

We roamed the halls for a little bit, until we came across another dark elf....but this one was a cleric!! They are known for their ability to communicate with the dead!!

"Woooo we are the ghosts of fallen wood elves.....save usss clericccc....wwooooo".

Sure enough the cleric could hear us! If even he couldn't see us!! And he ventured into the lower parts of guk to perform his magic!

We were saved !!!! Had we not run into him, we would have likely ended up haunting the hallways forever!!

After that we returned to the commonlands.....

There I hear rumors that a rogue had snuck down to Guk several days ago...and stolen the magic hands ring. That the hand, in embarrassment, was using an illusion to pretend he still had his ring......to avoid the shame.....

Humm, perhaps I could track down that rogue....surely he would be selling it? Right? That was my next step! I had to find it! And learn the spell from Ganelorn! Not just for me....but for the world!! To stop Innoruuk!!!

I have some other things to post still.....about my archerlings and the call of flame....but this couldn't wait!!!

You see, tonight I went to Steamfont mountains to try and find some micro servos....and, of course, practice my archery. Since I had reached 51 the other day, I had learnt how to deal double damage with my bow to distracted targets (non-rooted and non-moving targets take double damage from archery at 51!).

Things were going pretty well.... the monsters weren't too difficult, and made great target practice. I even found a handful of micro servos!

But....something was bothering me....I wished I could figure out a way to deal the double damage even when fighting alone....

Whenever I had talked to archers as I was learning, they all told me the double damage was impossible to do alone..... that it was only possible while others had distracted the creature.....

Was it true? Was this really my limit? Were my new abilities useless to me traveling alone?

As I was lost in thought, firing mindlessly at targets around the field....I had forgotten to watch how close the creatures were getting to me. With one coming down upon me just as I fired an arrow. Of course I wasn't in much threat... my arrow killed it....but I also noticed this arrow did far more damage than normal!

The enemy must have been so focused on finally reaching me, it ignored my arrow....

Humm, I wondered if I could do it again....and once more I lured an enemy close to me....shooting just as it got to me....and again, it worked!!

I kept practicing and found the problem was the timing was difficult...and half of the time it didn't work....I had to do better.

Luckily, it didn't take me long to think of an idea....

So I lured out another skeleton to fight....if it was taking them too long to reach me, I would just have to reach THEM first!!!

As I shot my arrow I summoned my elvish speed and raced forward....directly at the skeleton!!! Sprinting even faster than my arrow could travel! Though just barely!

The skeleton tried to hit me as I ducked under its arm....it's focus squarely on me.....

And as the skeleton swung its body around to follow me.....my arrow struck the back of its head!!!

I had discovered it!!! A new technique!!! One that carries great risk....but also great reward for a lone archer!!!

Immediately I began practicing it....mastering it.....

I call it, the Windstep! An archery technique only for the fastest and bravest archers!!!

It took me a little while...but eventually I learnt that the rogue who had stolen the giant hand of guks ring sold it at the commons marketplace. Apparently there was a gnomish soldier who had come to purchase artifacts for research whom had bought it, but he had already begun his trek back home to Ak'anon.

I had to follow her! Before the gnomes did strange gnome things to the ring!! It looked like I was going to Ak'anon!

It didn't take me too long to get there, as I tend to prefer to ride druids instead of the boat. As I came to the city, I wondered if the gnomes could invent a druid saddle for me.

Inside I eventually found where the soldier was stationed.

But when I asked her what she had done with the ring....she said she had already given it to their clockwork King!!

The problem was the King doesn't grant an audience with just any random elf....

Luckily, I always carry around pie and even clam chowder for such an emergency!!! Everyone knows a gnomes weakness is their stomach.

With such delicious food to tempt the gnomes with, I was soon granted an audience with the king. He might be a clockwork, but the others sure weren't!

I explained to him the quest I was on ...and offered to buy the ring....but he said the gnomes needed it for their research.

If it was research they were after, they had come to the right elf!! I'd been around the world!! Fought dragons!! And had all sorts of magic treasure!!!

So I offered to let them examine my treasures if they would give me the ring (provided they didn't do weird gnome things to my treasure).

His eye sockets grew a little brighter....it seemed we had a deal!

So the next few days I stayed in Ak'anon practicing with my bow while the gnomes examined what I had. Overall it wasn't too bad.....just they really could use some longer beds...

With the final piece I was ready to return to Ganelorn!!! Surely with all of the things I had worked so hard to collect he would teach me how to call the flame!!!

But when I reached him....he said I had one last test to prove myself worthy.....I had to stop the king of the poachers!!! Vance Bearstalker!!!

I'd only heard legends of him!! A poacher mightier than any other!!!! I wouldn't be able to defeat him alone.....or even with another archer....no, this was going to take some serious fighting power!!

So, I sent out messages to my closest allies!!! Kadest, of course, was ready to answer the call and came right away!

That left us looking for two more.....but it was so late in the season, finding adventurers was going to be difficult....

It looked like we would need some mercenaries.

So, together we went to Freeport! The perfect place to find mercenaries!!!

After some searching and posting help wanted signs....we eventually came in contact with a strange Iksar named Kiruru. He seemed to have a fetish for bones....but also seemed pretty strong! He would be a great teammate!

Shortly after that a dwarf paladin named Arity said he wanted to join us also! He was a little lower level than me....but still the help was welcome!!!

It looked like we had our band of heroes to defeat the poacher King!! A quick teleport later and we were back in Karana....ready for the hunt!!!

I got to work tracking the king of the poachers..... finding him nearby on a hillside.... he hadn't seen me...

I let a shot loose towards him and began running away. Sure he would be a bit angry and come after me.....right into our ambush!

A few moments later, the real fight had begun!!!

But this poacher was smart!! Instead of focusing on me or the dwarf....he ran straight for the Iksar first!!! Punching him with great force!! And with that, the Iksar fell over dead.....I guess he wasn't that powerful after all.

Though, the iksars minion saw what had happened and rushed at the poacher! Cackling as it swung its bony arms!

But the poacher didn't care, he had his eyes on Kadest next!!! I tried to do what I could, shooting my arrows and snaring.... as the dwarf chased behind the poacher swinging his halberd.

Eventually the dwarf distracted the poacher enough and it finally gave up on Kadest.

Suddenly, the Iksar jumped up and began doing his magic!! I guess he got over being dead.....like I said, he was strange.....I was glad he was alive again at least.

The fight waged on for what seemed like forever!! But we were definitely winning....

It was time to end it though...I took aim....and let loose a powerful shot. Striking Vance straight in the head.

And with that, it was over....

I began tying a rope around the body to drag back to Ganelorn. He had told me he wanted the poachers head....but I wasn't going to do that!

But as I was tying the knots....the dwarf walked up and chopped off the poachers head with his halberd....

Blood was everywhere!! The horror!!!!

But oh well, it was lighter at least.

I took the head to Ganelorn and at long last, my quest was complete!!

That night I poured over the scroll studying it and practicing.....by morning, I had mastered it!! Now I too knew how to call the flame!!

We still had the coin from the dark elf to take to Telin in the Burning woods....so Kadest and I began our travels there.

There I discovered a giant wasps hive!!!

It seemed pretty interesting!!! Perhaps it would be a good place to hunt later.....but for now we had other business to attend to!

We soon found Telin and he suggested we seek out Arch Druid Althele in Karana.

Luckily getting there was fairly quick with Kadest with me...and before we knew it we were in Karana.

There I tracked her to a fishing village near the river....and also the largest waterfall I had seen!! I'd been in Karana so many times and never seen such a waterfall!! I was surprised!

I went to Althele and gave her the coin, telling her what happened. She had already been sent word by Telin that Kadest and I was coming to see her....though, how his messages were faster than us I'm not too sure.

Althele told us that the other druids of the village needed to be present before we could discuss the matters of Innoruuk....it was time for "the gathering"!

Simple enough!

So I tracked down the other druids and told them to Althele wanted to see them.

Before long we had all but one druid with us! Humans, elves, half elves, halflings....and whatever Fang was, he never really said too much....just sat there watching in his wolf form....it truly was a gathering like none other!

I tracked down the final member of the druids and the gathering was complete!!

The ritual began with the druids calling out to Tunare and Karana asking for their help.

Suddenly, Althele turned to me and said Innoruuk's brood was upon us!!! I guess she could feel them nearby!

Kadest and I needed to stop them before they reached the arch druids!!!!!!!

We searched nearby and saw them on a hill. This time though...it wasn't a single dark elf.....no, it was 3!!!!!!

Kadest caught one of them....but two of the others got past him and were running straight for the gathering!! They were fast!!!!

It was up to me! I raced ahead and began firing at them!! Gaining their attention with a few well placed arrows.

They drew close to me, but I was fairly confident I could handle them.

Little did I know that these two dark elves were shadowknights!!!!!!!!!!! As they neared, they both channeled the power of their evil gods into me!! Harm touching me!!!!!!!!!

It hurt, a lot!! Kadest was busy with his own dark elf, but even he could see I was in trouble....

The problem was, Kadest was also!!!!!! The dark elf he was fighting definitely didn't seem easy....

It looked like I would have to handle things on my own.

So I did as archers do.....and ran!!! While shooting arrows, of course.

I used my magic to heal my wounds and summoned vines to slow down my enemies....but things weren't under control yet. The dark elves saw I was gaining an advantage and began dispelling all of my magic~!!!!

Suddenly I found myself removed from my wolf form!!! Without my wolf speed....they would surely catch me!!!

I had run towards Kadest though, perhaps if we focused on his elf first we could join together to fight the ones I was battling?

I let loose arrows and magic to help finish off Kadest's enemy....and he was defeated. But both Kadest and I were pretty hurt from the battle, with these two minions of Innoruuk close behind me.

Kadest tried to draw their attention, but regretted it immediately as he learnt of their dispelling magic habits....

Somehow though we managed to get the situation under control. Eventually one of the elves fell.

Though, we were hurt and our energy was almost depleted!

Luckily the final dark elf seemed to have a change of heart and fled into the mountains! We were victorious!!!!!!

We returned to the arch druids victorious. On one of the fallen dark elves we had found a Fleshbound Tome....giving it to the druids to see what they thought of it.

It seemed our quest had only just begun!! Innoruuk was seeding the land with his hatred! He had to be stopped!

Before the druids left for the safety of their sanctuary they gave Kadest and I a note and told us to seek out "she who walks the path of the mother, she who walks the lands in service to her kin".

Humm, it looked like this might take some time.....

It looked like we had gotten ourselves wrapped up in the business of gods!!!

Perhaps we needed to speak with another god about this.....cazic thule?

I'd heard rumors that morals could go to his plane though a gate just sitting around in the swamps....but that it was dangerous in doing so!

Then again, I'd fought dragons...giants....undead....living...."Humm, how dangerous could it really be?"

Kadest, of course, was willing to go.

We discussed it and decided that this journey would be more dangerous than any we had done before. Perhaps we would need even 4 people in total as when we killed the poacher king?!

Well, we already had 2....and with a little searching we had found another elf to join us. The bard Murri. I'd met Murri before on some of my adventures, so this seemed like a good start.

After some more searching, we found some others willing to go.

A dwarvish paladin named Evangelos....though he was only as big as me, 51.

A halfling druid named Kolsh....that seemed good, druids were pretty handy.

And we even found an ogre!! A shaman named Teeton!!

Besides Murri and Kadest and myself....that meant we had 6 people!!!! Seemed like we would be extra safe with so many adventurers!

So we began to gather in the swamp...having gotten secret information to where the planar portal was located from gnomes (many gnomes died to get us this information).

Getting to the portal was surprising easy! A couple easily defeated spectres and an erudite were all that was stopping us from entering!!

I prepared my strategy....if we were to get into trouble, I would use my snares and flame licks to gain the enemies attention! I could do that to a couple of monsters as I've done before with giants! I would be a hero, everyone would rejoice!

After preparing ourselves....we all took deep breaths.....and jumped through!!

As I came through the other side I could barely make out Murri as he ran over the hill we had appeared on.....and chasing him, were monsters! 1...2...3....4.....oh....this wasn't good....this wasn't good at all....

We all rushed down the hill as Murri sang his songs and kept running! Ohhhh mannn, there were far more creatures in here than I had thought!! I froze!! What should I snare?! Should I flame lick?! Who....who do I shoot?!

I backed against the wall....trying to assess the situation....Murri was hurt, I started with him....trying to heal him, but he kept passing by me too quickly!

The two druids stepped in and each charmed one of the gorillas.

Well, at least that was a start!

Then we peeled one of the creatures off of Murri..... ok, ok, this wasn't....too bad....

As everyone began to get a little more comfortable....we actually began to make some progress against the one we had pulled away from Murri. The two gorillas being mighty warriors in themselves!!

Then the dwarf paladin jumped in with the gorillas to fight. Ouch, it seemed like he definitely hurt from the creatures bites. I began to get worried again....

But we managed to kill one of the creatures after Murri....then another....and finally a 3rd. But as we fought, more creatures saw Murri running around and decided to chase him too.

Even though we were winning....the number of enemies we were facing was growing!

Suddenly everything went wrong!!!!!!

First for some reason monsters that were chasing Murri broke off and killed our dwarf!!! Then the druids died!!!! And the shaman!!!

"Get us out of here!! Teleport!!!"

But it was too late.....there were too many....everything went dark.....

Moments later....we woke in the swamp....stripped of our weapons and armor!! Had we died?! Did Tunare save us?!

It didn't matter now! We were given a second chance!! .....but, what were we going to do? Without our equipment, invading the plane of fear would be even harder....

As we came to the planes portal again, we saw another naked adventurer. Qelen the high elf. Had he met the same fate as us? Saved by the gods?! But stripped of his possessions by the thief Cazic?!

It looked like we were in this together....we had found a 7th member.

We sat around and discussed our strategy to recover our things...this would be hard....harder than ever....I didn't even know if it was possible!

Then Murri stood up and said he would go in first.....alone!!!!!!

He had already let us survive for so long before....and now....he offered to go in first to distract them!!! Not only that, but also find our equipment and bring it near the portal!!! Alone!!!!

"No Murri!! You can't!! Not alone!!!"

"But...I must.....it is my duty, as an elf!"

The bravery!!!! I was never so proud to be an elf!!!!!!

The ogre cried many tears as Murri walked into the portal.....and there was silence.....as we all waited for his signal to enter.....

Things were quiet a little too long though....had he died?! Was he captured?! Kidnapped!???! Forced into cazic thules dungeon and had gnomish things done to him?! Turned into a dark elf?!??!!

As my mind raced with all of the horrible things that had surely happened to Murri....his voice came from the portal "Ok, zone in".

He was alive!!!!!!!!

We raced into the portal also!!! Ready to save him!!

When I got to the other side of the portal though....I saw Murri was pretty hurt....what had happened?! He also wasn't anywhere to be seen....

It looked like this wasn't going to be good....

Still, no monsters had attacked the rest of us...so we raced down the hill again and found our equipment.

Suddenly I could sense Murri died!!!!

It wasn't a good sign....probably....

Then, from over the hill, a group of monsters came rushing at us!!!

"Get us out of here!!"

The druid began to cast his spell as our brave paladin fought the creatures....

Then, it finished casting....we were saved!!!!!!

Moments later though, we appeared.... still in the plane of fear......this time deep in the middle of it.....

"Wait....what?!"

"Oh....ohhh.....this isn't good........"

I looked around in every direction and monsters were walking through the forests of fear, still unaware of us.....giant squid soldiers...gorillas....floating eyes.....

"I meant get us out of here to somewhere safe!!!!"

The other druid was way ahead of me though!! He had already begun casting his spell!!! Just as the creatures around us had seen we were there and coming towards us!!!!!

Thankfully the spell finished before they could reach us.......we vanished....

When the magic cleared, we were really safe this time!!! In the commons!!!

But our job wasn't over....... we had to go back!!!!!!!

Though, the paladin was losing strength. With all of this battling becoming too much for him, and thankfully he had his equipment back.

So he bid us farewell.

Luckily we found a new 7th person....the great barbarian shaman Hukas the Mighty Bear!!

I knew his power already! Though even with him here, I'd learnt the plane of fear still wasn't something to be taken lightly!

But, we had another problem....with 7 people someone had to stay outside of the group.....

I volunteered. After all, I'm an archer, I don't get hit! So it was better to have Hukas in the team to be looked after by the cleric!

"Rosen....take this....just in case...."

Hukas handed me a cap. He told me it was magic....and to touch it if there was no other way out. The druids wouldn't be able to help me this time.....

After preparing, we again entered the plane of fear..... with most of us having our equipment this time and Hukas here, we managed to charm the gorillas and begin fighting....Murri distracting them as normal.

Everything was going fairly smoothly this time......we killed a few more creatures, and the gorillas were doing their thing.

Sure some more creatures had joined the fight, but nothing too bad I thought?

As I ran to snare a creature away from the group, I heard a wooshing sound.

Strange.....I turned around towards the group....

Then I remembered the cap!!!! Was it too late?!

I closed my eyes and stuffed my hand into my backpack and frantically felt around as the creatures attacked me!!!

Then I felt it....a sharp sting....

When I opened my eyes .....the creatures were gone.... and all around me I saw dead people staring into the distance......

Was I alive?!? What....where......

Was this a vision?!?! What was to come if we didn't stop Innoruuk?!?!?!?!

Noooo!! I couldn't let it happen!!!!!!!

I closed my eyes again and when I opened them I was in the commonlands, with normal dead bodies all around. Whew.

It looked like I had made it out alive!!! But just barely!!!!!

We decided to try again!!! One last time!!!

Again, Murri distracted the creatures ....though I noticed there were far less of them this time....

After a bit of fighting....we actually reached a point where we had killed everything after Murri.

Had we done it?! Had we....broken into the plane of fear?!?!

Yes!!! We had done it!!

We had achieved something great that night!!! Entered the plane of the gods and defeated their minions!!!!!

But it was getting late and we were weary from so much adventuring.

Perhaps trying to speak with Cazic Thule about Innoruuk wasn't the best idea.....I think I might just try to find that druid instead.....

The next day when I woke up in the swamp, I noticed a lot of people rushing past me.

It was pretty unusual seeing so many in such a place like this!!! I wondered what they were up to....so began following them.

I was shocked when I saw them enter the secret tunnels towards the Plane of Fears portal!!...and before I could even catch up to them, they had jumped through the portal! Without even preparing!!

I knew what I had to do....I had to save them....

I prepared myself for another trip into the plane of fear, knowing how dangerous it was....and jumped through the portal after them!

When I appeared on the other side though, I saw they had quite the force assembled! Still, I knew this place probably better than all of them....having been to plane of fear the day before.....they would surely need my arrows to keep safe.

So I took a position overseeing the group on a small hill nearby, helping to fall the enemies that noticed us!

They sure had a strange group though....I even met a dark elf shaman!!! ...

I'd never seen a dark elf shaman, though dark elves are tricky....and pretty savage, so it doesn't surprise me too much I guess.

Things were going fairly well....we were killing the monsters without too much trouble. So in preparation for the next ones, I began making more arrows....

But, things got quiet.....a little too quiet....

When I looked around to see what was going on, I noticed half of the party had left us to sit on a nearby hill!!

They had formed some type of ball.....a bait ball?! What...what kind of monsters had I joined?! There were high elves and wood elves in that ball!!! The elfmanity!!

But before I could protest the savageness.....an army of cazic thules minions rushed out of the forest towards them!!!

It was too late!! The bait ball was too tempting!!!!!!!

Little did I know it was a trap! They were all mages! And joined together their magic to create a giant explosion that killed all of the minions!! They had simply moved away from the rest of us to avoid catching us in their blast!

Then...from the forest....a rumble came.....

"My minions!!"

It was Cazic Thule himself!!! Angered by the sudden death of so many of his followers!!!!

It looked like he wasn't in the mood to talk.... we were going to have to defend ourselves. I was sure it was going to be a long fight....but luckily I always keep bags of arrows on me!

We fought for what seemed like forever....and as the battle waged on, I was starting to get a little nervous. My arrows were vanishing quickly from my bags... well, I guess not vanishing, just they decided to use Cazic Thules back as their new quiver.

I reached into my quiver for another arrow....but I was out!!!.....

Though I wouldn't be stopped so easily! As every good archer knows, you always keep a back up quiver of special arrows!!!

So I pulled them out and kept firing, this time even stronger than before!!

But at what cost?! In his death, he managed to take one last adventurer with him....falling and crushing an ogre!!!!

In the end the mission was successful!! The brave adventurers were safe! Surely they would have been overcome by the plane of fears dangers without an elvish archer backing them up.

I've been so busy adventuring lately, I'd forgotten to post my adventures!

But, first off, for any new archers....I've written an archery guide to help get you started. http://www.project1999.com/forums/showthread.php?t=243942 It is a good place to start if you are considering learning the ancient art of the bendy branch.

After fighting Cazic Thule, I had traveled to the Everfrost Peaks to hunt frost giants for an old debt I have. I won't go into details, but let's just say I owe a certain human a heck of a lot of frost giant toes (I think he uses them in his drinks or something?).

Turns out though, most frost giants are known to chop off their own toes and sell them on the black market for about 10-30pp!!!! So usually they will have a lot of money, but no toes!

As I was hunting....my keen highly trained elvish ranger senses started to tell me something was off.....I just couldn't quite put my finger on what....

As I was looking around trying to figure out what was wrong.... I saw adventurers running past me and into the Permafrost Keep! It was odd, I'd hunted here off and on for a while and never seen so many adventurers going to visit the goblins in the keep....something was happening! And I had to find out what!!

When I got inside, I found a group of adventurers assembling and slowly pushing their way deeper into the keep.....they were from all sorts of different guilds, it was a little strange.

I went down to them and helped them fight off a few frost giants (since I was so practiced in the art of frost giant killing)....and as we began to talk, I learnt they were going to challenge the great Lady Vox herself!!!! The sleeping ice dragon!!

Obviously I couldn't let them face a dragon without arrows protecting them! So, I volunteered to help them in their battle!

It didn't take long after that to push our way past the few last ice giants and overgrown spiders.....and soon, I found myself charging into the great hall of Lady Vox!

The problem was I couldn't see her.... how could an entire dragon be hiding?! Maybe she knew we were coming already! And was invisible! Waiting to ambush us!!!

Before I could consider the other ingenious dragon strategies that were surely waiting for us....I saw an enormous silhouette emerging from the haze of the great hall.....

It was her!!! The fight had begun!!

I quickly ducked behind a nearby ice block to shoot arrows from. Hoping it would protect me from her icy blasts and dragons roar!

The fight waged for a while! Some adventurers finding themselves so scared they ran into pits! Others being chewed by Lady Vox....or being ambushed by ice giants that were still left.....

I couldn't lose track of my mission though! I focused my fire on the dragon....arrow after arrow....I could feel my quiver getting lighter every shot.

In the end though, we defeated her! Another dragon learning they are no match for the power of arrows!

As we celebrated the victory and tried to rescue people from the pits....I began to look around.....

Then...to my horror....I realized the block I had hidden behind.....it wasn't just an ice block at all!

Dragons can be scary creatures!!! I could have easily ended up the same way!!

I wondered though.....maybe the human I owed ice giant toes to would take a few off my debt for an ice barbarian? -thinks-

That night....I made camp in the Everfrost Peaks and had the strangest dream.....

In the dream, I was in a wondrous forest!! The kind I'd never seen before!! With all sorts of mythical creatures running free! Unicorns....bears.....wolves.....

All of the animals seemed to like me too, looking at me happily. It makes sense of course, as an elf and ranger, I've always been pretty good with animals -flex-

As I explored more, I even found the trees were happy to see me!!! Seemingly wanting hugs!!!

Eventually I came upon a great tree!!! The kind I'd never seen before!! It towered above the forest.....and around it's side, was a great spiral that had grown. I had to see what was inside!

I quickly made my way to the top, curious to see what was inside.... passing by princes and more treants (they are really huggy creatures!).

At the top, I found a single doorway. As I went inside, I was stopped by two great panthers....

Then, as I looked across the room...I saw her.....it was Tunare!!!!!

I'd been caught!! Tunare sees everything! "Oh....but....I owe ..."

"You do not understand little elf."

Suddenly I found myself in the Faydark surrounded by the bodies of all of the races of Norrath!

"Nooooo!! Their rez timers are all up!!!!!!" I screamed.

Suddenly I was back before Tunare again....

"Rosen! You must become stronger! Go to the city of the frost giants.....challenge the great statue of Rallos Zek.....only with the avatars bow will you truly be able to battle the gods on even footing! But be warned, for you to be awarded the bow....you must reach the statue first....it will be the greatest test of your speed....".

I knew what I had to do (mostly because Tunare told me). It seemed a dragons bow was great enough to match dragons....but a gods bow would be needed to fight a god like Innoruuk! It made sense.

I swore to her I would find it! No matter how many years it took!
