Pre-patch at level 58:
-Lose 100hp, gain 47 mana
Post-patch at level 58
-Lose 74hp, gain 37 mana
Slightly better ratio
Old 0.47 mana per 1 hp
New 0.5 mana per 1 hp
Impact: slightly better ratio (negligible), a lot less fast mana over time if you chain it.
Was this intended?
Canni2 at level 58 is
-Lose 67hp, gain 32 mana (0.48 mana per 1 hp)

Confirmed classic.
Better hp to mana conversion ratio (slightly) ... not as good for mana per canni which sucks.

Yeah, not a change I'd be pleased with if it had happened back in the Kunark era - people argue about ratios (and admittedly they are useful while leveling), but at 60 I only care about getting back to full mana as rapidly as possibly.
On the other hand, cannibalize IV is now reasonably attainable and has faster returns than cannibalize III. So can't exactly be upset - everyone wins, really.

Yeah I agree.
I finally got a fungi for my shaman like a week before the patch. As a troll I was finally enjoying that sweet sweet regen and the fast chaingun canni with a goblin earring. The ratio is nicer, but the ability to spend less TIME canni-ing isn't worth the slightly better ratio. If it was still the level 53 me rocking an iksar regen bp, I probably would like the ratio better.
But, as you said ... canni4 now drops from a LOT more mobs, price should plummet from the current 60k and settle at something a lot more reasonable. My guess is it will settle in the ~5k range or less with time. There are now a lot more mobs that are killed a lot more frequently that drop it compared to even pox/bane ... and still a lot more than malo/torpor.
