Hey guys, just trying to get some questions answered for a first time Shaman. For reference I am a 43 Troll Shaman duoing with a 43 Human Monk. We are both well geared(Fungi + GFG)(Fungi + Ada Club/SoS).

My first question is about hunting style. Up to this point I have fully buffed each of us and just gone full melee DPS alongside the monk. This has worked great and exp came in fast. Towards becoming 43 I have noticed that my melee has started to drop off with more misses and such. Should I adapt a new strategy, and if so, what? Sit through fights while cannidancing and healing? Are slows worth using at this level? Is the Listless Power line of spells worth using? DoTs/Nukes?

The second question is about locations. We have had great locations up until now with very steady kills/time to keep up with our potential. At 43, Sol B window has slowed down a ton and Minotaurs in Lower Guk are very spread out. Are there any locations that might suit our power level more and be good experience? Any suggestions past 43 are welcome also.

Thanks for the help guys! Please have constructive contributions and limit any twink hate.

You can try the yeti caves in DL. By the time you kill the last one the first should be just about up again.

Slow is incredibly usefull and getting more important every level. You could just sit down, med and use short time dots (poison line).

At 43 DL is a decent place to duo. There are also several dungeons that you can try, but DL is more safe of course.

Solb royals should be good until late 40s. MM inside the castle? Droga. Kaesora.
And yes, slows are amazing.

I'd duo in City of Mist so you can work on epic faction.

Thanks for all of the suggestions. We'll try those out.

Still looking for a bit more feedback on the hunting style for the shaman. Melee vs. spellcasting and such.

I leveled my shammy the same way. I had a PWC and the weapon damage was better than the dots. Eventually the melee damage is not as good and your time will be better spent spamming a jbb, canni for heals/ slows/ buffs or dots. When soloing your dog can hold aggro over you and when duoing the monk has aggo. eventually so your time is better spent not in melee combat because it is just not efficient. All I can say is you will know it when you get to that point until then melee away.

Something I like to do when I'm duoing on my shaman is work the crowd control to your favor.

Pull 3 at a time, send the pet on the weakest mob, root rot a second and have the melee grab the 3rd. Toss a slow (doesn't have to be the best one. Do the math and find what works) as needed, and root or melee the one you dotted if/when your root breaks.

You can't compete with a monk in melee dps, but you and your pet can take out mobs on the side for extra exp. It also keeps things interesting. If you have a fungi, you shouldn't have issues with taking extra mobs like this. Especially if you go to CoM.

Just have monk pull singles. All you cast is slow, a heal on the monk if needed, and med between kills. Once the monk takes aggro off you, canni dance or, if mana is good, do some melee. Your melee damage at this point is less than 1/2 the monk's.

Always have dog-dog out, he does good damage.

Use your mana to refresh regens on you and the monk, haste, and maybe a few stat buffs. I often haste the pet too, he does more damage than you think, and he bashes a lot to interrupt.

If you are a lucky barbarian, you should have a barb spiritists hammer and then your melee damage is still respectable...with self dex buffs, that 263dd plus the melee damage is no joke.

the best place to duo from 40-48ish is COM stables.
