Is it true you can just turn in com book. Over and over and over till max faction and then just do the tear to avoid the rest of quest? Also if I have a fire wolf pelt can I turn it in at any level without doing faction work?

You can repeat any portion of the quest to max faction

I'm not sure. I went to the sprit having done no faction and he wouldn't talk to me. I didn't want to chance it, so I did the first couple parts to get faction before any turn ins.

No it can't. I'd do the quest legit up to that part (each step once) - can be soloed easily up to the Dire Wolf part. No repeats are necessary if you follow the quest exactly.

Once you get to City of Mist book hand-in part, you can redo that to skip the Hole.
