How exactly do we transfer an item or money to one of our alts? Is the only way relying on someone else?

Either find someone to help or risk dropping items on ground camp/reenter with new toon and pick up.
Coin can't be dropped.
Recommend method is find a 60 in EC to help out, however there are probably plenty of trustworthy people who don't mind helping out.

yes i would recommend lying about the amount of money you are going to transfer. You can tell them for example, "I am going to transfer 10k in 2k groups and the last group will be 4k and some items." and then transfer them 6k in 2k bunches and stop there. That way they try and wait to steal the 4k +items and it never comes. Hope this helps.

^Or you could just be more careful about who you get to do transfers for you. Try and find longstanding members or officers of one of the big raid guilds since they have a position/reputation to uphold that isnt worth throwing away for your 10k

many people will help you out without issue
any of the well known guilds will support you if one of their members does something stupid, elsewise you'd probably receive GM support as well
but, don't be stupid, as is always good advice

Join a guild, get one of the people in the guild to do your transfer, ????, profit.
Also, a lot of Dial a Port members offer transfers as one of the services they provide.

Buy gems, stuff in bag, drop at secret location :D log your alt in to collect $$$ !!!
hah!
Well... it's ok for doing little drops, but yeah big ticket items you're best off finding someone to do the trade off for you, not hard to do. To do a bag drop, you need a really good connection. Back when I was using a mobile hotspot, I lost a few bags, but no big deal.

People in big name guilds as someone said earlier won't tarnish their reputation.
PM me I'll gladly help you out.
