Significant Loot:
3 Opal Bracelet
2 Sapphire
2 Fire Emerald
3 Mithril Amulet
1 Emerald Ring
Platinum Earned: ~990 + small change.
Seafury Cyclopses Killed: 16
Class: Bard
I'd say that the number of Seafuries available to kill was average whereas the loot was very good (ie I got way more valuable items than I usually get).
The reason I posted this was because Nalkin and I were skeptical of when people say that Seafuries earn 1.5K an hour on average. These stats are helpful in that they establish how many seafuries a 50 Bard should be able to kill in an hour (I hope so at least - if another 50 Bard would like to try this out on a good day and see how many they kill in 56 minutes that would be great), but not very helpful in that it was very clearly a lucky day in terms of loot, so this doesn't disprove people who exaggerate how good the loot is (either way, knowing how many are killed per hour by a Bard at least allows us to determine how much platinum a player makes per Seafury (regardless of class) on an average day, which is useful). Nalkin's probably going to post more stats, if any other seafury-killing classes could post similar stats that would be cool too (Bards, Necros, Enchanters, Mages, quadding classes, etc.)
edit: if you're going to help out with this, post the relevant info (class, loot, money earned, number of seafuries killed, time elapsed, whether it was a good day/average day/bad day, whether the loot was good/average/bad, etc. Using /log helps to keep track of this information)
edit: (also just to be clear, I stopped after 56 minutes because my mana ran out and my method of killing them uses Charm, which uses up mana)
56 minutes of Guard Fredrick
Significant loot:
3 Fine Steel Short Sword
Platinum Earned: ~15 + small change.
Guard Fredricks Killed: 5
Class: Shaman
I'd say that the number of Guard Fredricks available to kill was average whereas the loot was very good (ie I got way more fine steel short swords than I usually get).
The reason I posted this was because I was skeptical of when people say that shitty-loot North Karana guards earn 1.5K an hour on average. These stats are helpful in that they establish how many Guard Fredricks a 35 Shaman should be able to kill in an hour (I hope so at least - if another 35 Shaman would like to try this out on a good day and see how many they kill in 56 minutes that would be great), but not very helpful in that it was very clearly a lucky day in terms of loot, so this doesn't disprove people who exaggerate how good the loot is (either way, knowing how many are killed per hour by a Shaman at least allows us to determine how much platinum a player makes per Guard Fredrick (regardless of class) on an average day, which is useful). If any other Guard Fredrick-killing classes could post similar stats that would be cool too (Bards, Necros, Enchanters, Mages, quadding the same guard four times simultaneously classes, etc.)

edit: (also just to be clear, I stopped after 56 minutes because my podcast finished and my method of killing them uses me listening to a podcast so it's not so boring)

TIME: 1.5 hrs
Significant Loot:
1 Opal Bracelet
3 Sapphire
1 Fire Emerald
0 Mithril Amulet
2 Emerald Ring
1 Star Ruby Earring
100p from drops
------------------
= ~800p (haven't sold yet due to weight considerations on my frail body.)
FURIES KILLED: 36
Not to crowded, but not exactly clear either. Didn't have to much downtime, but I did have to wait for mobs sometimes.

yea the guard fredrick post seriously changed my whole life and rose my aspirations to farm him all day
1k/hour over a long period of time is probably what they shell out, for me at least
they can be very streaky, ive gone 10+ without a good drop before, but on multiple occasions I've showed up before a raid or something and made a quick K in about half an hour
kills take me 1-3min depending on procs..maybe 5 minutes of downtime per hour for rebuffs

Out there quite a bit, and I love stats and numbers, so I keep track of a lot of this in my head.
Takes approximately 1-2 minutes to kill a seafury for me as a 50 mage, using fire pet. This depends on seafury level, 37-41, and also my pet level in the same range. High pet, low seafury, and the time is closer to 1 minute, opposite, and it's closer to 2 minutes.
As said before it is very streaky, but I've NEVER averaged 1k an hour if I did it longer than 1 hour. I've had hot hours, making as high as 1200p in an hour. Longest streaks I've done is 4-5 hours in a row. I've done this multiple times, and every single time I average 500-800p/hour.
I still consider it the best money available, however, when I see PLing ads, for 1.5k+ an hour, and they justify it by saying this is what other farming classes can make an hour, I kinda laugh. Because it doesn't happen.

How's hill giants per hour on this server?
So if you're only getting about 1k/hour or less doing seafuries, is camping some kind of expensive EC item (e.g. FBSS) more efficient, or are they rare enough that it's not worthwhile? Presumably if the economy is perfect then it's exactly as efficient since they would be worth the equivalent amount of time at seafuries.
Also, whoever added the tag "guardfredericksucks", I RESENT THAT.

I've had that same thought about the high value camps versus Seafury grinding, and I personally would take SF's over FG/Efreeti etc.

Thought about that, but the item you are going for is rare enough that I think over all its better to just farm the cash from seafuries and buy it. I've heard of people camping Frenzy or Lord for 12+ hours without seeing any drops. Could easily farm enough in that same time period to buy either of them.
Thing with seafuries though as well is that even when its camped, you still pull decent money. What I stopped doing for a bit, then admittedly started back up again, is just being happy with what I made. I'd go back and sell and make 800p. I didn't say man, that sucks, that took 2 hours. I'd be like heck ya, thats 800p I didn't have before.
My previous toon, before Mage, was a warrior, and I didn't have any money, ever. Hovered from broke to 200p, before assuredly I'd need to pay for rezzes to try and re-coup some experience. So the amount of money I have now, is just insane compared to a new toon trying to start out with nothing.

From past experience (before the island was so over crowded) I would say that 1.5k an hour is way over average. On a good day you might make close to 1k but definitely nothing above that.
This was also as a bard with zero downtime. Sometimes, charm/kiting, sometimes not. You can get lucky at times with double gems but then you can also go like 8+ kills without a single gem or jewelry.
I don't think the people claiming these high averages are actually taking averages cause I know everyone goes through those no gem droughts but it never seems to be calculated into the average.

Exactly Chic.
I've had hot streaks, where I got on for just an hour or so, and I made 1200p. It was amazing, but that doesn't last. It doesn't average out to that or even close to that.

Buddy and I spent about 12 hours or more in OOT yesterday/last night camping Seafuries and AC. Came out with 2 rings and nearly 10k worth of plat from jewelry.

Figure 6k for the AC rings, and you guys did super well. One of you camp AC while other farmed?

If I was with other guildies I'd surely take freeti over SF's. It's a much easier camp (but then again I play a Bard) and the value of the earnings is comparable. It's also just more fun.

I think Hill giants would be amazing if one could quad kite then, but 99% of the time you cant get 2, much less 4.

I would just like to say that that is the perfect last name for that character.
