Water Sprinkler of the Forgiven

Not much Cleric banter in this subforum, thought I'd make a post about my favorite new toy.

This staff is dropped in Chardok from more mobs than just the Overking. I got mine from a Chardok entrance group (not an AOE group thank you).

When I'm moving through a zone I'll have the staff equipped and ready with mid-level Fears for both normal and undead memorized. I'll have Pacify on my spell bar too.

So something attacks you. Depending on how close other roamers are, either root or fear the mob. Pacify follows right after to reduce the mob's chance of aggroing you again. Then click the staff for Atone as necessary.

If the monster is rooted, you will be able to tell Atone succeeded when it starts twirling around. Atone does not give you a message if it has worked or not, so good to cast twice to be sure.

Of course Clerics learn the spell too, but at 100 mana a pop the staff really makes this strategy more viable. Little memory wipe stick makes me feel so warm and cozy.

Can I hear some love for this wonderful tool? May your heals always land!

also, use Calm, not pacify. half the mana and 4 times the duration.

Nice tip on the Calm vs. Pacify. Pacify is noted to work to on mobs up to 55, whereas Calm is detailed as "affecting up to lvl @1"

Does that mean your own level maybe?

Calm still useful for casting on 40's mobs or does it get resisted more? I'd definitely swap around spells in my book to save 50 mana on cast if they land equally well.

I always carry this and a Donald's Bracer. I don't need them often, but when I do need them I'm always glad they're there. :)

Calm works on mobs up to lvl 55. I'm not sure why its so much better, but I cant complain.

It lands the same, spell level does not affect resist rate at all.

Used this for a long while. Gets you out of some sticky situations without having to gate.

Calm vs Pacify
3 minute duration vs 42 seconds
50 mana to cast vs 100 mana
2.5 sec cast time vs 3 seconds
5 second recast timer vs 6 seconds

The only advantage Pacify has is that it reduces the target's social radius to <2% versus the 10% of Calm, but I can't think of a single place where the spawns are actually close enough that Calm isn't enough to prevent social aggro.

In short, the only time Pacify should ever be cast by anyone is when a paladin is clicking their Donal's bracer, and considering the cast time of the clicky even that is of dubious utility.

You can also use /assist to see if agro has been removed.

No target, no agro.
