There is at least 1 coming into the game every 24-48 hours its dropped by a level 30 mob. Why does everyone seem to think they are so rare? There seems to be two types of people. People who will treat them like any other rare item. For example a FBSS or SSoY is a cool drop but useless to me as a druid so I would have no problem trading one (and have) for a manastone, GEB or other equivalent item. Yet I see classes with no mana camping EE then refusing to trade them for anything.

They have a limited life span of usefulness and its sad to see 50% of them sitting in some rouges bank while he spams that he wants to buy a Granite Bracer of FBSS.

This thread is for discussion and speculation on the current and future price of manastones and other items in relation to them. I personally think they will get a slight boost in value when they no longer drop and slowly rise after that from normal inflation. Then after Kunark releases they will be seen mostly as a collectors item just like the Rubicite BP.

I would mostly agree with this and have no desire to purchase one nor will I pass up a chance to gain exp in exchange for camping this drop...

On the other hand I could use another weight reduction bag so send me a tell next time you manastone campers see me in Lguk.

If I happen to be there and the mob happens to be up and the stone happens to drop, sure I would be happy to take it. But once Kunark is released I will only be visiting old world zones with alts or for quests and that item would be completely useless for me.

Right now the economy is wacky. A week or two ago I saw a couple manastones sold for cash in the 12-13k range. 1 month ago I saw one sell for far cheaper. Now all the sudden it seems like they are worth 20k and for no apparent reason since Kunark is a long ways off.

My guess: Big influx of newer players finally getting to the level to camp one for themselves, an alt and for trading. Camp is hard to get now so demand is high. Give it time it will level off as right now I think it's just artificially inflated. Also more people have PP now and are willing to split with it so there's inflation going on. 10k plat is worth less now that it was a month ago. There is a far greater influx of new plat than rare drops so they just become more expensive over time. When was the last time you were in Rathe Mntns and didn't see a few people killing HGs?

2 months ago a friend traded a FBSS for a manastone. Yesterday I traded a FBSS + 2k for a manastone. This seems about right as when he traded FBSS was worth around 15k and its only worth 10-12k now. Like I said people are either trading it for a fair price or hording it and not selling. Sadly it seems 90% are holding on to them for now. I think they should put a manastone count on the main page under player count to give people an idea how many there are. I would guess at least 500 right now.

They will always work in classic zones. Not everyone HAS to exp in Kunark. I imagine Guk and Sol B might still be popular zones once Kunark is out.

I know on The Rathe, Guk and Sol B were just as active if not more active right after Kunark came out. Some people prefer the same ole same ole.

Here is what people still fail to understand, and some of it is from lack of knowledge, and that's ok.

First off, Manastones are useful 24/7 to any druid or wizard post classic. Port back, manastone, fungi staff/tunic/potions to get the hp back up, gate to your quad spot. very fast and efficient.

2nd, those items like an fbss will always drop. Manastones will not. not very many people have a million rotting in their bank though. if we get one stone per 12-24 hours on average, there should be 200-250 stones in game at the moment.

Lastly, Due to an emulator wide bug, apparently the manastones are usable everywhere and its not a huge secret. I haven't tested it myself, but we'll see when kunark comes out. If this is the case, they will literally be GOLD when kunark hits

Just my 2c. Just cause you feel like an fbss is worth a manastone now, doesnt mean everyone should heh. Most people, like myself, believe manastones will be worth 50 fbss's (exaggeration, but you get the picture) once they stop dropping.

Manastone for prenerf fungi staff for my necro anyone? = P

These things need to be lore so bad. It's an emulated server of a 10 year old game with 350 people playing. Why some are spending weeks upon weeks hoarding these with visions of future riches dancing around in their heads is beyond me.

I think those who spent their entire time on P1999 camping these will hold onto them like their last breath until they stop dropping. When they stop dropping people will spring into auction expecting to sell them at 10x their already inflated price, only to realize that 20 other people had the same plan.

As a result the price normally would go down because there are dozens of Manastones suddenly on the market, but it won't.. This is because the people who camped them will want some compensation for all the countless weeks they wasted killing a single green once every 30 minutes in a murky room on a fake version of a 10 year old game.

The people with the stones will not drop their price because they believe all the time they invested while others were having fun enjoying the game should be rewarded. On the other hand the buyers will not pay these ridiculous prices because they are ridiculous.

As a result life will go on, people will have half a dozen Manastones sitting in the bank, and when they lose interest and quit the stones will be gone and nobody will give a shit, because after all, it's an emulation of a 10 year old game.

this wasn't the main (or even important) point of his post, and you know that.

If the manastone works everywhere then they will either fix it or nerf it.

Why play here if it's "fake"?

That line of reasoning makes no sense and I don't know why the noob population is obsessed with it so much. (Besides to keep their egos intact because they're still level 13 while their friends they leveled in CB with are all 35+ now)

edit: and the obvious retort they go to next is: "I don't care if people leveled faster than I did, blah blah blah." But, they care enough to put down people above them for being...better. It's pretty transparent and it's as old as the MMO world is itself.

I wouldn't pay 50p for a manastone personally. If someone gave me a manastone I would either a) destroy it or b) give it to the guy who is always trying to buy one in ooc.

I hate manastones more than I hate kunark and believe you me that is quite a lot. I wish I owned all the manastones on this server cause I would destroy every single one. Or I would hide them in a random place in the world and make people search for them. Actually I would probably lie about hiding them and really destroy them all.

That was a story. It was a cool story. You must be cool, bro.

Meh, lets replace the word "better" with the term "somebody with much more time on their hands". The illusion of being better at this game simply because you hit 50 in a couple weeks and have tons of gear and money as we all know is just that, an illusion.

Remember Guin, anybody who disagrees with Fin is "beneath him" thus he is better than you. That fact is as old as the MMO genre itself.
