In recognition of the towering intellects at Merriam-Webster I share with you their 2015 selection for word of the year:

-ism

Let not this non-word's un-wordly nature exempt it from dutifully fulfilling its role as that which it is not. When words regularly are used to mean precisely those things which they do not, it is fitting that we should acknowledge such a bane to reason in celebration of our continued perversion of language and rational thought!

What is you favorite -ism?

For those of you who do not know how to google, a link to the subject story can be found below. It has been featured on our typical bag of alphabet networks including cbs, npr and msn.

I give up. There is no hope for humanity. Even Oxford has fallen.

A sad day indeed. Lament not the fall, but the unfortunate truth that we are not blind to it.

Emoji is an interesting word though given that it is a Japanese compound word formed by the forced union of an English word (emotion) and a Japanese word (ji is the kanji for character, symbol, figure) that was subsequently adopted in English. ^^

It wasn't even the word "emoji" though, it was

According to their data, the “Face With Tears of Joy” emoji, also known as LOL Emoji or Laughing Emoji, comprised nearly 20% of all emoji use in the U.S. and the U.K., where Oxford is based.

Omg, you are right. I just looked at the link and had thought the word emoji was their choice.

Just shows how far society is falling. Anyone seen the movie Idiocracy? Its only a matter of time.

We're already there, bro. We have feminists protesting mistletoe, BLM college students harassing white students claiming "if we cant study, you cant study!", we have people mad that criminals get shot sometimes, and we have a meme running for president. Pretty soon we'll be watering plants with gatorade.

There is a preponderance of sexually oriented -isms among those named people's favorites. In the spirit of that communal preference, I give you:
