Sandbox MMO with heavy emphasis on Crafting/gathering/PvP (loot drop in red zones, silver drop in yellow zones)

Simplified diablo/league combat style with abilities coming from speccing out your gear. "Destiny Board" similar to path of exile looking skill tree/progression tree.

I'm still on the fence about the game

Its closed beta right now, as far as I read online or saw on streams. Seems like a 3month closed beta, wipe, then patch for live i think. I've been loosely following since the game was announced for alpha but never bought to try it out. I'm considering it now though

Have they released any details on how limited the "free" experience will be? Seems to bring a little UO nostalgia up from the depths.

I don't think they've set in stone exactly what it's going to be, but the consensus is that they are following an eve-esque model where they will sell "gold" and you can buy premium with gold or something but the vendors in the game all use "silver" which is a different currency. Idk from what I saw it doesn't really seem pay2win because even if you can buy some stuff, you can't equip anything higher tier unless you skill it up yourself first. The free to play will mimic the premium but resource yields/fame may be reduced per node/kill you get. Essentially, you get exp/gather reduction.. or a boost for premium if u want to look at it that way. By how much? I dont know, ppl are speculating 50% or so.

I haven't played the game myself, so I don't know if that's too much or makes little difference in the grind.

Looks like a cross between WOW and UO and Diablo and Wurm Online.

It's also cross-platform, playable on:

i really want to play this but i dont know how fun it would be to play on my phone. i thought about buying a tablet pretty much to just play this, but my wife got me a kindle fire hd7 on the cheap (not realizing i couldnt access google play) so my options are to play it on my phone/laptop and maybe try to hack my hd7 for google play or get a new tablet down the road.

i dont think the app is on google play yet, they have a link on there web page and just tell your hd7 to allow 3rd party apps.

I've tried it on my Nexus 6 phone, it's too laggy because their Android port doesn't allow resolution changing.. The FPS would be fine if my phone wasn't forced to run in 2560×1440. If I could switch to 1080p or 720p resolution, I'm sure the game would be fine.

Aside from that, I can run the game on my ultrabook at lower than 1080p resolution with good FPS and the graphics is fine.

I also have the 30$ founders pack. I recently joined a very small guild with about 5 active players. Do you want to join us for now? Its nice to be able to chat with some ppl while playing and maybe group up for some fame farming/trading materials etc. I met them by joining their party in an early dungeon.

If I see you online, i'll try to send you a whisper and toss you a guild invite. you can join or leave if you find something better. we don't have any requirements for you to fulfill as far as providing to the guild island or anything, so its just a group of guys to chat/group with for the time being

I've been playing now for about a week. Its fucking badass. Although we dont quite know yet the final build. For instance, they just put in fast travel for silver which fucking sucks.

fast travel for silver was already in the game.. but i noticed they added a ton more zones to the fast travel merchant though. I think fast travel should be removed completely..

I take back what I have said. After reaching Tier 6, the game is exhaustively repetitive, each zone is like a big clash of clan map....the dungeons are a joke. There ARE classes and they are exactly what you expect them to be...deviate from that and you're gimped. This game would be OK if it were mobile platform ONLY. Its not a fulltime MMO, at all.

Are you T6 craft/refining or just T6 armor/weapons?

I am hearing some backlash about people saying the exact same things as you, and I agree about the direction the game has pretty much been forced to. I am hoping the devs wake up and drastically change the way the game functions.

Disregard my last post. Im 3 days played time in...can't stop. I will say this. The game will definitely be a commercial success and you wont stop hearing about it in 2016-2017

This game is very grindy. I'm only Tier 3 so far with a day played, so I haven't gotten a good feel for the game yet as a whole. But I will say that it'd be really easy to burn yourself out on this game before the official release since they are wiping the servers again when that happens.

My impression right now is mixed. It just feels like a game that is trying too hard to be compatible for both PC and tablet that it isn't spectacular as a game on either platform. It seems a bit too complicated control-wise to play reliably on tablet. It seems a bit too dumbed down to play seriously on PC when I may as well be playing a plethora of other games at that point. And it's unfortunate, because I think it COULD be a great game if they split the source and took it in two different directions for each platform.

Optimize the controls to make it feel more fluid on touch screens. Work on adding more content and customization to make it feel like a more substantial title for PC.

There is a separate PC UI they have announced it should be patched in January. Right now everyone plays on the mobile UI. I didn't think they could change much in beta but I youtubed videos from teh alpha last summer 2014 and DAMN the game looks way better today. Especially the water.
