So, I was deep in thought yesterday and I was thinking that our R99 community would be a devastating force if we created a Corp or alliance in Eve.

Like a pirate conglomerate. Have the alliance named Red 99. And within that, each guild can create a corporation to house their members.

And then we could loosely ally against larger enemies and also fight eachother the way we do in eq.

The game is fuckin dirty, you are encouraged to do all the slippery shit we do on r99 to ruin eachothers' day for a laugh.

Is there any interest in trying to organize something? It would prob require interest from leadership across all the guilds. I mean we have r99 history and lore, lots of hatred... creating a pirate alliance would fit the history perfectly

my accounts are inactive, i'm not trolling or trying to recruit, just poking around to gauge interest.

1) There are several R99 community members who are already established in eve
2) Just having an organized community would make us dangerous in Eve
3) I bet we could get some sponsors in game to provide lots of $ and equipment to get started
4) being a time/skill point progression rather than xp, your character "progresses" while offline. So there would be almost no need to miss raids/camps. could prob play both games simultaneously.
5) monthly subscriptions can be purchased with in game currency
6) you can literally have a bunch of people in the basic ships swarm and kill people in vastly superior equip and cost them time and money by destroying their shit

Honestly, a good comparison to what would happen if Red 99 ever invaded Eve online. It would be as though Thunderdome zerged ToV regardless of lvls, PKed everyone in their path, then killed the dragons.

Eve is the most boring mmo there is, it is completely uninteresting, theres almost no money in null sec, faction mods are worthless and you can make more grinding missions ( like doing wow quests)

suicide ganking sucks now because the game is hard coded to have high value shit burn up and not drop, and even if it does if you scoop you get a criminal flag

If you want to have some fun playing that type of game, buy the new star wars battlefront, its awesome.

They are going to be adding expansion packs throughout the year and some big space battles.

Even after switching to red I cant seem to get stoked about playing EQ anymore, so I'd probably give Eve a try if there was enough interest to do a p99 thing. Probably going to give the new Tribes patch a go until I find something else, but hit me up if you get something put together. Ya, there was a new tribes released a few years ago. A lot of T1 and T2 players complained about the physics, but it was actually a lot of fun. The company (Hi-Rez) abandoned the game more than a year ago to support Smite, but recently decided to release another patch with new maps and a revamp of the load out system. It is currently only on test servers though.

The game is kind of dead, but last time I played there were still a few active public servers and still an active community for more organized pick up games. The competitive scene pretty much died when they quit updating the game, but when the new patch gets released I'm sure they'll be some draft tournaments and more pick up games for a while.

The game is free to play too, so definitely check it out. They tried to make money selling voice packs and skins only, which is probably why it was a bit of a financial boondoggle.

Ya, the Tribes franchise is right up there with Half-Life in terms of great FPS games imo. Tribes is just too hard of a game to get mass appeal though. The skill curve is way too steep for many casual gamers to enjoy it, and the game strategy is too complicated for disorganized public servers. One moron chain grabbing the flag as a heavy can disrupt the entire flow of the game for your team.

I still have a lot of fun just skiing around and fragging people in pubs though. I actually used to love just throwing on some good tunes, smoking my brains out, and working on cap routes in private servers.

If any of you decide to download Ascend (the newest one), shoot me a PM if you wanna hook up for some pub play. Ascend is a bit different from the earlier games, so I can give you a quick crash course in going fast and not being bad.

I would agree for public games, but I think in organized play Ascend actually had a lot more evolution in what was considered the best strategies. That probably had a lot to do with it being newer, but the prevailing wisdom regarding strategies changed drastically each season, and even a lot mid-season. I cant remember the team name, but there was a US team that destroyed everyone (including a reboot of 5150 from old tribes) running 5 offense and 2 defense, with no heavy on flag, when everyone was saying that D stacking was unbeatable. Ascend also had a lot more complex flag play, and rock routes made the capper vs. D dynamic a lot more interesting.

One of the biggest problems with Tribes imo is actually how split the community is between the different version. Right now there are active communities in T2, Vengeance, and Ascend, but none have enough people to support an actual league. I can totally understand some of the hate from T1 and T2 players towards Ascend, but have absolutely no idea how anyone thinks T:V is worth playing.

Star Citizen looks good but EvE and SC are very different games. SC is more of a single player game with small-scale skirmish multiplayer added onto it. SC is leaning more towards twitch based mechanics while EvE is purely a strategy game through and through.

I was so confused by people paying for 300$ ships that i stopped looking it up. How the fuck does that even work?

Elite is similar with the paint jobs. Like theres pretty much nothing to do in the game besides grind for ships. So one of the things they could have done to keep pe0ple interested while they patch m0re c0ntent is add merchants here and there for random paint jobs in the galaxy but nooooooo the only way to get those is to pay real money on top of the 80$ you forked for the game and 80$ more theyre asking for expansion a year later.

For me it was just a way to get to know the game, put myself around players who knew what they were doing so i crash coursed through game mechanics. Wish i had done more PVP honestly, i made a killing (to me anyway) moving lightweight components in a stealth ship from 0.0 to jita. Was leveling my stealth bombing skill to 4 or 5 and when i finally got there i was kind of bored and never played again heh.

Most pvp i did was being eyes and drop point for fleet during big battles or big skirmishes which dont really get your chops up pvp wise.

Was basically waiting for World of darkness to come about and start fresh from day 1 in an eve like sandbox, but it was unfortunately canned for fucking dust which was so terrible.

i don't need to train anything. I can fly caps of all kinds and don't want a Titan. Have a perfect subcap pilot, perfect super for 2 races, and a booster. Plus all other kinds of toons on the accounts. All three toons can fly a carrier with triage t2.

Just nothing new in game yet that I want to train.

To me the biggest fail advice ive been given was "dont go to 00 until you know alot about the game"

I went to providence, saw what was left around by people killing pirates and proceeded to buy an industrial ship and make like 20X the money i was making doing noob missions by collecting stuff other players killed. Not sure how providence looks like these days, but back then it wasnt a KoS zone so you could do that sort of stuff. Since experience in eve is unrelated to how much enemies you kill (in fact money buys you implants to xp faster) it was a great way to make money as a noob. But people here and on internet guides probably g0t much better ways to make good money rapidly than this. It was just something i found on my own.

Surrounding yourself with players who know what theyre doing is one of the best way to learn about a game as deep as eve.

Cyno alt is literally just CPU Managment 5 and Cyno IV so you can carry the fuel in a ibis or starter ship of your choice and then you are done. Covert Cyno just takes cyno to V and then train said skill.



A great general 60 day newbie skill plan is this one. If you find yourself wanting to specalize already then I can help you make a new one. (some of these skills will be trained already because now CCP starts you out with 400k Skill Points instead of 50k so you can finish this quicker)

Small gang pvp is the life blood of low sec and WH pvp. Btw CPU managment V is useful for every single pilot and cyno IV is like a 2-3 day train so you can make ANYTHING into a cyno character.


For small pvp gangs svipuls are popular, hawk's and harpys, interceptors like maldeiction, garmur's, ferox, vexor's, and logi. Logi are basically the clerics of eve in that they rep (heal) a friendly ships' shield or armor hit points. You can train a t1 gankalyst in less then 1 day but they are only used for highsec suicide ganks and not lowsec/null pvp. It's pretty easy to get a group together to go do some faction warefare which is pvp and money making combined.

1 round of smartbombs on an inty will do about 2400 dmg so he made the mistake of not having a buffer tank while traveling through lowsec gates.

You can come into high-sec bud. You just need to bounce around while getting the best warp in. All my characters are criminal as well. If you want to do the stuff sam does you'll need a bit of training (unless you just wanna hop in a tackle frigate which you can do right away)

Decision to play was out of the blue and was pleasantly surprised by the polish added to eve online in the last 3 years and the upgraded graphics. Would be nice to get a couple more forum roamers to give it a shot with us and join our red99 newb crew.

We can gank miners in high-sec with a pilot that has like 8? hours of training. I already have two perfect catalyst/talos gankers and a bunch of other accounts to provide warp ins. I'll edit this post with a skill plan you should train overnight and we can do something tomorrow if ya'll want.


Train this on your new character. A lot of the shit will already be trained with the new skill point system.

Go into your attribute's on your character screen, click neural re-map and put max points into perception (27) and the remaining in willpower.

Make a gallente character to cut off 4-5 hours of train time.

Playing it again i realize Eve spoiled me, makes you sit down with games like fallout 4 or basically any mmo since then and go meh after a couple of hours, maybe days. Its not perfect but best pvp sandbox by far. Elite dangerous is literally a pile of dog shit compared to eve gameplay.

Yeah i reactivated an old account of mine which is why i could head straight to null space. But im pretty sure if nothings changed much you can be ready to do the same in a few weeks (which you use to learn about the game anyway). Like be in a battlecruiser and make some decent money killing NPC pirates.

well yeah it takes time to train skills in eve so your gunna hit that wall sometime where you want some skills you dont have. but there is content even for new players, and if you go hard you can get isk to buy a higher sp chr

Ratting a wormhole with a wolf-rayet effect is potentially a great way for low skill point characters to make good isk and learn basic logistics. As you can see here we're using 3 Catalysts and 2 Augorors. This is a C4... but a C1-C3 would be a more ideal hole to stage pvp ops from since they commonly have low and null sec statics.

Anyone that missed out on eve should at least give it a spin to see what they missed. I did the same for dark age of camelot. I didnt like it that much, but i could see why people loved it back in the early 2000s. Eve is like that, its one of the greats.

Just remember... if a stealth bomber or strategic cruiser de-cloaks beside you, its most likely that no amount of warp core stabilizers will save you. Generally a good idea to fit as cheap as possible.

I used to play Eve Online pretty heavily. I had two accounts (one to scout with, one to kill with). I tried funding both subscriptions with in game ISK, but it eventually felt too much like a job.

I've been resisting the urge to re-sub, but it has some of the most hardcore pvp out there.

I'm having fun trying Eve casually as I wait for some of these skills to train up. I joined a Corporation today and within a few minutes I had some hostiles at war with my alliance chasing me through high-sec (I haven't even made it to our null-sec area yet).

I enjoy the genuine terror you experience in traveling to an area in which you're not confident - it reminds me of my early days in EQ where I was basically like "FUCK!" at every turn. I absolutely adore the sandbox element of Eve and look forward to trying my hand at some of the more unscrupulous tactics available.

When I was playing, there was a Corp called Eve University. Their charter was training noobs to play the game. They had classes on just about anything you were interested in doing. They even had an NPC nullsec division.

Another Corp that specialized in pvp training was Agony Unleashed. But you had to pay isk for their training classes.

I spent some time in Eve University, and I don't regret it. They even have a recorded library of old classes that you can listen to.
