I'm thinking these two would make a good duo pair.

At low to middle levels you have two decent melee characters.

Once you get fear you have good low mana dps with shaman dots and SK + pet melee. The SK snare adds a nice dynamic to the duo (do shamans get a snare?)

At high levels the Shaman can root and SK can joust mob with high delay 2 handed weapon. Do any SK and Shammy dots stack?

You have decent dungeon crawling ability with single pulls from SK feign death and some simblance of croud control with Shammy rooting.

What does everyone else think? I've always heard monk shaman is great duo. Would that be significantly better?

My main on P99 has been a Shadow Knight for some years; the wife plays a Shaman. As such I have fair experience with this duo. Responding to some specific questions or comments you made: All the Shadow Knight and Shaman damage spells stack. The Shaman doesn't have a snare, unless it's a Troll Shaman who completes a quest for a weak snare necklace. Shaman root is fully adequate crowd control for anything you'll care to duo. There really isn't any need to root joust; if the Shaman can land root, he can land slow, which cripples damage output to such an extent that jousting becomes unnecessary.

Monk/Shaman is usually regarded as superior because it levels more quickly owing to the Monk's greater damage output relative to the Shadow Knight--leveling rate being basically a function of kill speed. Otherwise the two duos are of roughly equal power. There are a tiny number of camps a Monk/Shaman can duo that the Shadow Knight/Shaman typically cannot because of sneak pulling...basically just Fungi King in Sebilis, and that'll go away if sneak pulling ever has its function changed. On the plus side, the Shadow Knight partner is generally safer and less hassle for the Shaman thanks to superior aggro control.

In short it's a strong duo for the standards of something with a melee class in it.

It's a really good combo. I have been doing with an SK for the past 50 levels. We started the toons together and did every level so far together. So many places you can duo.

Maybe if they fix 2h damage.

Shadowknight / Paladin dps is an absolute joke

No reason to play an SK on the blue server

Shaman / Monk combo is by far a better combination, (or even a good geared ranger or Warrior).
SK lack of Damage output makes it not worth it.

The SK or Pally is only good in groups, (with good dps) or raids, (as off tanks).

IMO Shaman/SK is more of an incomplete trio than a duo. You just need to pick up one dps class (enchanter/necro being ideal, but rogue/mage/ranger/monk would be fine).

The Shaman doesn't have a snare, unless it's a Troll Shaman who completes a quest for a weak snare necklace.

Also make sure that troll worships Innoruuk and not CT. The clicky necklace (Regent Symbol of Innoruuk) effect is Clinging Darkness, which is the weakest necro/sk snare, 6 sec cast.

Long cast and short duration :o

The Sk pet puts out very decent damage in the 50s. Also slow is good enough with regen that a shaman can focus a lot of their effots on dps (especially good with epic and jbb). This offsets almost all of the dps concerns.

Find undead critters you can go the other way: CT shaman fears (2.0 second cast time) and the sk can use whatever snare they want. With warrens implemented the quest should be pretty easy for a young shaman.
