I don't think you can explain the cultish snapping instead of clapping away with "mob mentality". This is an ideology (i hesitate to award it even this dubious distinction) these people are buying into even when they're not in a gibbering mob slipping on banana peels.

Mob mentality does apply to a certain extent to these peoples' willingness to escalate to violence while hooting each other on, and the rush of being in a mob probably explains a certain number of the people who are basically uninvolved but entertained enough to attend, but there's a system of ideas here that's initiating the conflict to begin with and keeping it alive between chimpouts.

But who gets to decide what language is racist? Threatening someone for posting something you find offensive is exactly what those people at the university are doing and later hope to make national policy. It's a joke, but the punchline is how much he himself hates his writing, punctuation, and ideas. He has a lot of personality traits I recognize from subs i've encountered IRL, the way he'll cutely beg for my approval via forum PM then antagonize me in public threads in his ditzy harmless way like a princess looking for a nice firm back handed reprimand from Daddy while out at dinner.
