View Full Version : Miscellaneous: Magi P'Tasa incorrect loot table

I believe Magi P'tasa loot table is currently incorrect on the server. I know as it is now the Magi can drop the Staff of Elemental Mastery: Fire. Doing research on this item I cannot find a single claim to support that this version of hate 1.5 Magi P'tasa having that item on its loot table. Reading all the comments on http://everquest.allakhazam.com/db/npc.html?id=6623&p=1#comments
you can see not a single person comments on getting a staff of elemental mastery: fire from Magi P'tasa until May 21st, 2003. That is 1 week after the newest plane of hate, Plane of hate 2.0 or plane of Hate B, went live. All comments here suggest that prior to that patch if Magi P'tasa is wielding a staff, it is in fact the earth staff.
On this post, http://everquest.allakhazam.com/db/item.html?item=6274 ,the one for the actual fire staff, it is discussed as people getting it from Mistress of Scorn loot table in Hate 1.5. Only people that mention getting the Staff of elemental mastery: Fire from Magi P'tasa are AFTER the Plane of Hate B revamp in May of 2003.
I have been reading and researching this as much as I can and it seems other than apothic armor the only epic pieces Magi P'tasa should drop are the Staff of elemental mastery: Earth and more rarely Shattered Emerald of Corruption.
http://eq.magelo.com/npc/415123 is another post with loots from Magi P'tasa although I am unsure how accurate it is.
Anyone else have any other evidence to substantiate this claim?
Magi archived comments about Earth Staff.

I believe every mini has the possibility of SEoC and Eye of Inny, which drop on top of their other loot.
Should be:
2 Armor
0-1 Old Inny Loot (specific to each mini)
0-1 SEoC
0-1 Eye of Inny
I suppose it's possible Eye and SEoC share a loot table though.
However I agree with the intent of the thread. Magi should only drop Earth Staff as his Inny loot (other than the Eye/SEoC). While the Mistress of Scorn should have a chance to drop both Fire Staff and Dawnchaser on his Inny loot table.
Based on limited evidence, I feel like the drop rate on Inny's old plunder is a bit low for us (may be bad luck).
I think we've killed probably I'd say 30-40 minis in Hate, of all varieties. We saw 1 Eye off a Lord of Ire, 2 Gardashes off Master of Spite, and 1 Dawnchaser off Mistress of Scorn. I don't believe we have seen anything else drop yet from minis.
The posts from back then suggest minis drop them around a 33-50% chance I'd say. As an example:
http://www.project1999.com/forums/showpost.php?p=2101560&postcount=7
Grandmaster - 3 armor loots
High Priest - Inny Hammer
Avatar -
Coercer - Inny Wand
Mistress - Fire Staff
Broodmother - Inny Necro Book
He also claims Eye of Inny off scorn banshee. I'm guessing it was actually from a named listed above and not properly attributed.
But of the named they killed they got 3/6 Inny loot (4/6 if you include the fire staff).
Just as one example.
This one seems quite clear.

This was stated on November 14th. It is now January 2nd. Can this not be taken care of with a single zone reset?
This incorrect loot table is stopping many from obtaining an epic that they should be able to get, without question. I actually main a mage and was working for weeks before this update, tracking Inny every week to try to get this final piece to my epic. Despite how awful that was, at least we had a chance then. I would even take a reversion back to Hate 1.0 at this point so that we can at least try to get it from Inny again.
Any news at ALL on when this might actually happen?

This isn't a zone reset issue. This is a database update issue.
The server needs to come down for a real database update / patch for this to change.
We are due for many fixes (Hybrid defense cap for example) that a database update should fix. We are also due for the April era patch shortly so we should expect them together.

Doesn't make sense to me that Mistress of Scorn drops the fire staff - wasn't that normal loot from male revs prior to the revamp? They should still be dropping it ... cuckoo...
I know that in the months following the Hate revamp, I got an epic stone for my ranger from the Lord of Ire. I also know that another ranger stone dropped the same night. The details are a little fuzzy these 14ish years later, but they might have even been on the same mob. At any rate, anecdotal support for ranger epic drops not being limited to one slot on one mob.

Rangers / Necros can still complete epic. Problem is since Nov 1st (When it was stated repeatedly) mage epic will become 1000x easier when it became "No longer complete-able".
Interesting to see how Mage epic has been broken since Nov 1st, not said to be corrected until the 14th (nearly 2 weeks??) and has remained broken for over 2 months. Be another mmmmmmmmm 5 months before they patch it in is my guess haha. Just give up on mage epic in general is my thought. Mage epic has been painful to finish to start with. Then the "fix" for mage epic is then broken, then takes 5 months to correct it...gonna be a real shit show when they do correct it in hate.

Would love a dev reply newer than 2 months old on the current situation.
Would this even require a server/database restart for a 1 mob/1 zone loot table change?
Seems ridiculous to release the revamp that makes epics "easier" only to have it make the Mage epic completely impossible for months.
I'm not even a Mage player and think this is a bit absurd.

It requires an update to the database on the server side that determines what loot drops from each mob.
That requires a patch, which requires Rogean (on his own time) to set aside some amount of time to make it happen. As soon as that patch happens this will be fixed.
