Cant Log on

Ok so I am pretty bummed,was looking forward to reliving EQ like it was but I cannot get in game. I am hit by several road blocks until the final dead end.
Ok, so when I try to log on to the server I often get the "logging in to server. Please wait" message and it just sits there sometimes it will give me the timed out window. Sometimes if I reboot the comp I can get past that guy. Then its the "an unexpected error occurred while trying to log on" or something to that effect. But some tries I am lucky enough to get past that and my heart skips a beat because character creation come up. I try to make my Barbarian Warrior,type in the name then..submitting name..thennnn..................................... ......................................nothing. I have to shut the computer off to get the game to quit.
I have looked over the threads for solutions to all the road blocks but nothing seems to work. I have re installed the game like 4 times now.
I am not an IT guy but I am some what knowledgeable about PCs but by no means savvy :D

Woot, finally found the answer. I ran across a thread similar to mine and it was suggested to change the monitor resolution to a lower setting for the log in process. It works,possibly something that should be mentioned in the FAQ. Of course the solution happens at bed time so have no time to play but gunna hit it tomorrow. :D

Never mind,tried to log today expecting to finally play and it is back to doing what it was doing :( This is like some cruel joke, I wish I never heard of this stupid eq emulation business, would have saved me $50 for a 10 year old game I already own.

the saga continues. I had uninstalled wineq2 cus things started acting up when I installed it last so I tried to install again and was able to log on and play :D so yea!!

OK,so I have been able to play,somewhat reliably. Though actually getting on is like hitting the 50point ring in ski ball,it takes many attempts,and making a new character is twice as long. And if I DC it may be a while before I get back on which was unfortunate for me when I DCed in the throne room of Crushbone,when I could finally get on I was by myself surrounded by a full respawn. So the other day it started getting worse logging on was rarely possible. I took my wife's laptop over to a friends house to see how it went there. It worked like it is supposed to: click,type password and bam online,made a character too no problem what so ever. So my question now is,what can be done? The problem is between my comp and the game server. Any ideas?

Sounds like you have issues with your internet.

OK,ya. Any idea on what the issue is. Bad modem? The speed test is fine getting 50+mps. Is there a key phrase I need to use when talking to my service provider? They say they don't block anything and they had no idea why I couldn't connect. My blu ray players also have issuers with connecting to the network too. Takes a few tries for them as well.
