So I really am confused here, I haven't been able to play p1999 since septemberish. I go to log in today and it says "your account has been banned" can I just say LOL?

I'm really so very confused as to why this happened, considering it was my first toon on the server (level 32 necro) and i've never exploited, rmt'd, or done anything that would violate one of the server rules.

Has this happened to anyone else? I put in a petition but i've yet to receive a response.

Plenty of people have had their accounts banned for a variety of reasons.

Post in Petition Forum. If if someone here knew exactly why, they still wouldn't be able to restore your toons.

Petitions can take days/weeks for GMs to get to (they have lives too and don't get paid for this). So be patient.

You can always create another account and play an alt in the meantime if you really want to get in EQ.

Aye I understand that, and i'm not upset about having to wait for it to be resolved. I'm just not grasping the reason for my ban, i've been a generally helpful person to people I meet in game and never did anything to violate their server rules. I just really do not want to reroll my toon and work for months to get back to where I was.

Like if I did something that broke their rules I wouldn't have been bothered by the ban, but it was completely out of left field lol

Ever sit in EC and get a random tell of someone asking you to do a Xfer for them? Someone that you don't know?

Likely that you got caught up in an RMT sweep. All you can do is wait.

I've done Xfers for guildies, also participated in that gnome race that happened a few months ago and won like 6-7k out of it? Other than that I can't really think of anything that would have violated the rules.

Did you ever do anything that might have compromised your password security, even telling it to a member of staff?

A lot of times accounts are banned because the staff suspect a password reset might be beneficial.

Yes that's definitely possible Daldaen, but I hope it isn't the case as there would be a few more people banned because of it and mine was just the last place award! and no Pokesan I wouldn't be that stupid... I read the forums for a long time before I decided to start on this server and RMT/Exploiting were the biggest complaints of people being banned so I wouldn't have risked it!

Also, did you share your account info with anyone before you left? That can be a Pandora's Box sometimes, because more than likely the person you shared with is less careful about sharing it with others...etc etc.

Haha well it's been resolved and the ban lifted, turns out I had MQ loaded from a previous play sesh on EZ back in august. Their systems are damn good to detect something that's loaded for 5 minutes.

But glad to have it all sorted out and playing again :)

MQ is not cheating on EZ server in fact it's encouraged and probably impossible to make any progress there without it. It's highly recommended you restart your computer and make sure it's not loaded before you play on p99. I'm super cautious every time I decide to play on EZ and then switch back, hence why I've never eaten a ban for MQ.

problem is he did use it but claims it was only for 5mins and only cause he forgot to shut it down, good to know that if you only cheat for 5mins it's ok.

This. Plenty of servers are fine with you using MQ. No one cares about running fast or warping to mobs when you aren't competing for spawns. I'm always paranoid when switching back over to p99 though even with MQ unloaded.

I ate a delevel from 47 to 41 or something when they first started sniffing mq. I had been playing on a MQ friendly server and logged onto p99 with mq still open. Lost all 3k plat I made from porting......

And rightfully so. The OP deserved what he got as well if he had MQ loaded. You need to operate under the rules of the server, or prepare to suffer the consequences. That's basically what it comes down to. The neanderthals talking out of their ass about mq being a hacking program used on other server most likely have no idea how other servers operate and what's required to function on them. Don't be a neanderthal talking out of your ass. Obey the rules and you won't get banned.

Casuals obey the rules, the immersed whine/bitch/complain if something didnt go their way and most of all they try to bend and lawyer the rules as much as possible.

I like the zero tolerance to 3rd party programs, clean whistles only here.

As it stands now we all know what the DLL does so yeah, loading any MQ would be a blatent rule violation.

The rules didn't seem to say that you couldn't use your computer for anything other than P99 or else you run the risk of eating a ban.
Meaning no MQ farming on EZserver while medding your wiz on p99. Funny thing was I had logged off EZ and just forgot to close it.

Correct. Although I would'nt call the opposite to casuals immersed. Use of 3rd party programms is quite the opposite of immersion.

I'm here to happily play the game as it was intended. I don't even know what MQ is - apart from multiquesting, which I also don't do because it's not supported.

If i remember correctly, MQ is a "packet sniffer" that reads the info comming into your client and can tell you, among other things, exactly where and when any mob in the zone pops and allows you to transport your character directly to those coordinates by some magic to which I am not privy.

I have seen it on Live. You and your friends have been camping a boss mob for hours, killing all the ph's while you wait. The Boss pops and before you can engage, some twinked out high level character pops in and steals your kill, loots the Epic piece you were after and disappears.

One of the reasons I left Live.

Let's take into consideration the time and place that it happened shall we? I started P99 late into July playing on and off a few toons to see who i'd want to main.

Come the date in August when the incident happened I was only level 10-12 on my necromancer I logged in for 5 minutes, noticed MQ was open, closed it off my computer. and then for safe measure restarted my computer shortly after.

Now if I had used it another time at all in the time being on P99 Braknar wouldn't have unbanned me and he said so himself. If I had warped, speed hacked, even targetted a mob across the map it would have shown and I wouldn't have been unbanned.

The people in here that came out with torches and pitchforks are pretty amusing tbh.

I think you'll run into a problem, friend. You're head is currently lodged in your ass so all you'll see is shit and red stuff. You're first step will be getting some lubrication, dislodging your head from your ass, and reacquainting yourself with the world as it is. After this, as Gencat pointed out, you may want to look into some form of progressive education. I'm sure you know more than you can give yourself credit for so starting at first grade, as Gencat suggested, may not be necessary. Just keep in mind that your efforts are commendable. No one can take that away from you.

Simple mistake that was simple to verify, hence why it was quickly fixed. MQ use is encouraged on some emulated servers, and I'd wager many who play within the rules of p99 used MQ or MQ2 on live - and having done so is not against the rules of p99. It was rare to find people on live during the last few years who DIDN'T use the program - it's that ubiquitous unfortunately.
