Didn't Live at one point have those Skeletal Commanders and its minions crawl out of the ground in East Commonlands for a Halloween event? I remember my warrior using a two handed blunt weapon from the Commander pretty far into the game. Granted it was not the best of the best, but was much better than most items at its time (and I was not a hard core raider so gear upgrades were far and few between).

Which means if such a weapon was to drop tonight, my chances of obtaining one are about as good as Jay Cutler and the Bears doing a turn-around and winning the Super Bowl! :p

In all honesty...yea

You can prolly talk with some NPC's and maybe get a lower end reward (back in 99 I was part of the Halloween event in Qeynos Hills and spent time as a kind of a player-referee, keeping the lowbies and zone crashers in line while they all mobbed the GM 'NPC' for hints and clues.

I got a nightmare braid and a ,,, I think a cape for my caster that I was on at the time... as a reward. The GM handed out a couple bags worth of gear to folks that stuck around a while and played it out.

Of course, this was WAY back. Not sure these guys would do this.

The traveling is the only real issue. The npcs themselves are in fairly safe areas with no aggroing mobs in the immediate vicinity, so anyone can get to them.

This is absolutely not correct. Depending on your race you're KoS to all sorts of things near the initial quest mobs and the Velious, especially Kael, will fuck your shit up.

i just spent 4.5 hours doing this event, and when i was ready to turn in for the final mask, all of the quest items poofed from my inventory.

i went with the most ideal group possible (druid, wizard, cleric, bard) and the iceclad turn in NPC poofed while we were handing in, so another player couldn't complete the quest. there is no way a solo player or anyone who didn't have a bard could have completed this quest.

0/10 experience, you tricked me good GM's. troll'd me out of several hours of my life.

i totally agree. i knew the reward would be near nothing, but it was insulting to have the time of my friends wasted by having the npc's poof so soon. not to mention having all the masks poof out of my inventory when i received the final treat.
