Pet classes suck on this server

Man I always wanted to make a mage here, I miss my RZ mage. But here, you can't zone with pets and pets instantly poof when charmed.

I'm all for this with my bard, but being unbias, this sucks. You never see people even attack with pets in pvp. Pet? If not charmed, just zone away.

Would this server be that bad if pets could zone and charm didn't poof pets (maybe ACTUALLY charmed them with high resists or something? The caster could dispell, after all)?

I know it's classic, but this is definitely a MODERN classic server. Let's face it, pet classes suck. No one dares play a mage unless it's an epic twink alt. Necros don't even bother with pets in pvp for the most part.

Welcome to the life of being a Mage on r99. No you will never get classic pet resists and your pet will always be able to be charmed. Just enjoy the unclassic hit rates and getting put in a blender by any melee.

epic mage pets are good, after the revamp of hate anyone will be able to epic a mage, till then i wouldnt bother

mages also have no defense or avoidance abilities at all and generally get primaried.

On live charming pets never happened . Also the Mage epic pet had an insane amount of mr . It resisted 90% of all cc spells you threw at it

The problem here is most of the devs coding etc goes on hard proof and data unless it's Lord Vyemm.. Saying your pet resisted 80% doesn't mean much as there is no exact proof.

The PVP aspects aside, nobody seems to be mentioning how stupidly OP mages were upon P99 launch. You could take a naked mage: Use your pet to rape through basically whatever zone you chose, farm Freeport guards till you could do specs, rape specs till lvl 50, make a bunch of plat along the way, then sell your toon in EC tunnel for plat/trade for harder to level characters. Legally. Rinse and repeat.

It was a huge moneymaker and/or account collector. If you were min/max or profit oriented it was almost stupid to play any character other than a mage until various nerfs were implemented.

In economic terms, they call that kicking away the ladder. Use a certain set of rules to set yourself up for success, then once your on top, change the rules so others have it more difficult. Welcome to capitalism! Er, I mean P99.

All hate aside, I still love this server and have and will donate again. Don't ban me! :)

Yea, that's the thing - it's a modernized version of classic to better suit 30 year olds instead of 13 year olds (queued /tell's, higher resolutions, keep bard selos root break fixed at vanilla launch, item links from vanilla launch, and so on).

Zoning pets I could see drama causing and a bit of OP, but at the minimum, I believe they should take away the charm poofing. I'd love to play a mage again, but just like everyone else thinking the same, why would we? Spend 50% of your mana and 5 minutes summoning a pet, buffing it, giving it weps, to have it poof, effortlessly, by a bard or chanter.

Yea every class has their "oh shit they're gonna kill me" class, but it shouldn't be a click poof like this. This should be patched asap so we can finally let mages have a chance on this server without being epic.
