I enjoyed the originals. i okayed the newest ones. im fairly certain ill hate this one. Although, being disney i will enjoy playing their "Find the penis and dirty words" game in scenes.

So consider this.

They didn't just throw out the original story, which includes the first 6 films. The Skywalker legacy will continue, but may die off, who knows.

The point is; They are continuing the story of Luke and it will conclude with the 9th film.

Will Disney screw it up? No. Will JJ? No. Will you as a fan of the originals? That is your opinion, and you are entitled to it.

If you say you can bare or thing Ep 1 - 3 is OK. And, I feel about the same as you. Then I think you can stomach this and you will not hate it. Just remember it is the Star Wars universe. There are new characters and it will mainly focus on them and their continued story. It will NOT be about Princess L, Han Solo and the original droids. It WILL be about Luke Skywalker's survival of the Jedi ways and his ability to over come new enemies along with training the new heroes. AND, it will be about the new enemies that can't just be destroyed easily by Luke.

This universe has changed in a major way and if you haven't been reading the news, you will be surprised on how much it has changed.

Also, if you are a BIG TIME book fan, cannon and expanded universe, then you will probably not like this movie. There is a reason they left all that shit out. Remember, good ol' George Lucas did what ever the fuck he wanted with his movies which had NOTHING to do with the expanded universe originally.

Changed the lore and story in what way though? There isn't exactly a plethora of lore and story in 4-6 (they're just movies after all) and I don't see them contradicting what was shown in them. There may be small liberties taken with some things, like maybe the Emperor's ghost somehow survived, Boba Fett survived (we all know that's gonna happen anyway) or expanding on why that cave on Dagobah was so full of the dark side of the force.

The new Vader is meant to be "leaner and meaner" as in, he doesn't stand there like some immobile barely alive relic High Lord that a millennial of today would just punch directly in the nuts and be disrespectful to in the street. This is 2015, the villain has been updated to reflect society. Being "Godly" and "Lord-like" looking down on people is not whats up in todays culture. People want to see some nasty nasty terrorist type of villains who are respected not because of some "structure" or perceived military rank, but because of raw mafioso fear and extreme hands-on violence.

This Vader looks like the guy you don't mess with not because of some "superpower" force status, but because he is a really really hands-on nasty mafia capo superthug who will fucking obliterate you if you breathe wrong. Point being, he is MOBILE and hes IN THE FIELD. And a MAIN VILLAIN. This isn't going to be the Darth Maul dogshit Lucas jammed and tacked onto the 1st movie, not even close..

This is gonna rock because this Vader villain is going to be getting his hands dirty. He is basically "in the field". This is the Darth Maul we never had because of Lucas has shit for brains writing. This is who Darth Maul was supposed to be.

I agree the black stormtrooper is out of place and jammed in. Everything else is perfect though. The Vader, and the female lead is meant to appeal to millennials though, it is what it is. My thoughts on revenge of the sith are:

1. Overall good movie. It tops the 6 made by GL for sure.

2. Horrible dialog. The dialog in the movie made it so that I said in my first comment "good movie" instead of 'best movie ever'.

3. Should have shown the actual temple take down (no killing of children though). I wanted to see Darth Vader OWN the Jedi knights and masters who stood in his way. Yes, there were....1 or 2 masters/knights that actually escaped, but otherwise he dispatched them without issue. GL removed that because he is a capital douchebag.

4. It was the first movie to display Obi-wan in a manner where he actually could use a lightsaber in an effective way. In my personal opinion, Obi is a decent knight/master. He proved in the cartoons and in the movies to be weak and barely winning or getting saved by Anakin on multiple occasions. Suddenly GL wanted to show that he was just as powerful as Anakin and to be honest, he never was....but GL and his stupidity made that happen out of no where.

This X100. The Making of Episode 1,2,3 showed Lucas had complete control of storyline discussions. Not even a writers-room, Lucas was even writing the dialogue. The worst part? Selling creative rights and the IP to Disney was admitting the IP is bigger than him and he created something he cannot maintain.

This movie looks to be everything an epic relevant Star Wars movie in 2015 should be and will blow the Prequels out of the water.

I don't know if my opinion counts because I'm not "into" Star Wars to the extent that I can recite lines and tell you off the top of my head what the numbers were on a specific X-wing fighter or some crap like that.

But I thought 1-3 were ok. There were things I didn't like but overall they sufficed as entertainment. I do have to agree with you about Anakins' corruption though. I thought that was handled very badly and just generally didn't seem all that plausible the way it played out.

I like JJ. Even though the latest two films were terrible representations of the Star Trek universe, they had managed to be an extremely enjoyable fantasy regardless.

That's the key, fantasy. JJ does really good fantasy works and that's exactly what Star Wars is, not science fiction but rather a space opera.

I guess I shouldn't worry TOO much because The Dark Knight rating war the MPAA had to fight allegedly changed the face of PG-13 movies forever, revamping the MPAA's own requirements for an R rating. That was initially an R flick and was lowered to PG-13 through months of litigation and negotiation. Was quite a fiasco, and the MPAA eventually caved in for the first time in recent history I believe.

Yeah I needed to rein it in. Good post. Yeah I think the Han dying thing is bullshit to throw us off. I am going to say Chewie gets whacked, based on the latest trailer, someone said they saw fur on the ground in one of the shots and mourning. Enjoying Harrison Ford's forced press tour appearances. Guy has social anxiety which a lot of nerds can relate to here, and its fun to watch him completely detached one moment and speechless, to completely lucid, snarky and witty. Hes much more relaxed though post-crash incident, I guess seeing your life flash before your eyes has a way of making you loosen up more.

On set he tells directors to run with a skeleton crew for his scenes, as he hates large crowds starring at him and it can affect his performances.

Anyway point is, Lucas Arts was notorious for only allowing the leaks they wanted to allow, and I think JJ and Disney are doing the same thing as security was rumored to be very very extreme overseas. Nobody was talking, and no leakers set foot anywhere near production. Only a drone picture was able to even get close to the set, and they even cracked down on that too... And George Lucas would still film fake scenes in front of the entire crew, and then reshoot it with a small crew just to make sure no keygrips sold the story. If Han actually bites it in Episode 7 I would be shocked. No Star Wars leak has ever turned out to be true as far as I know.

Luke going to the darkside after being an all-star classic golden boy in the movies would make little sense. Nobody would like it or stomach it very well but maybe I'm old fashioned fanbase member, and my thinking comes from being an original trilogy fan who is hoping for some nostalgia of the original trilogy. I am biased and its possible that JJ is giving Star Wars the 2015 Star Trek treatment, modernizing and revamping it for 2015 millennial film audiences as that is what he does best.

It would have to be something like "grey area" side but I doubt it is even that simple. It is going to be more complicated than anyone can theorize about I feel. JJ and the writers had some fundamental disagreement halfway through the script that caused an impasse, this rarely happens with AAA movie writers, they always work things out. It means the disagreement had to be critical to the direction of the next 3 movies. I think this blowout between the writers had to do with Luke's role in the next 3 movies.

I don't believe Luke went dark at all. He is neither Kylo, nor Snoke nor has he turned to the dark side.

I think Luke is a pure Jedi Master that did exactly what his former Master (Yoda) did. He went in to hiding.

Jedi even after the death of the Emperor are still very much so hated. I also believe that Luke is NOT the only Jedi out there. Vader didn't get every single Jedi, nor did the "First Order".

I believe how they are going to introduce this movie though is that Luke is the lone Jedi out in there and there is no other. I know for a fact this isn't true though.

As for the helmet. I am pretty sure Luke didn't take it. I am sure that he just left the burnt remains there. Obviously you know the body isn't there. It's gone, just like Yoda and Obi. The suit was probably all melted along with the mask, but also remember that the First Order DID exist in a form during Return of the Jedi. They were used by Vader, and maybe Palpatine to hunt down the Jedi along with various other tasks.

About 1 more month. DAMN I can't wait to see this story and see where they went. Azz, I did see a youtube thing about it might be Chewie who died because there was fur.

Honestly, I'd like for them to kill off Han, Leia and Chewie. Only have Luke left to do what must be done! :)

Yeah I think we all agree there is something big going on with Luke. Its certainly not going to be a movie about this hipster sith dude Adam Driver terrorizing some village and some skinny girl bawling her eyes out at the sight of it. Theres going to be another galactic war starting to form in the backdrop I assume, as all that Imperial hardware didn't just get abandoned and evaporate.

This will at least finally deliver us the watered down Star Wars that we were denied by the prequels.

Ultimately the editing and editor dictate how the movie will feel. The original movies all had different directors and still had that continuity. Hoping there's at least a hint of the original star wars editing in this cut and I'll be happy.

Naw. The book that came out with what's going on in the universe at the end of Return of the Jedi proves that the First Order does exist and it WAS a factor as early as Episode 4.

JJ has his ways but with them flaws just like anyone else. This story isn't just JJ's. I would say it's mostly Kathleen, JJ and those other 2 dudes.....can't remember their names. They are the ground work for this story and where it's going.

As for predictable, ya....I feel the same way, but I am still excited. This will start off with the introduction of Characters, some action in between with a HUGE answer to questions/climatic ending. The ending will also give you a great idea what's going to go on for the most part in Ep8.

Can revisit this come Christmas time. I definitely think Luke has a connection to Kylo Ren. Don't think Luke is in 90% of this movie aside from the final act.

That would explain his "Big role" in Episode 8 that has been confirmed and his acknowledged lack of presence in Episode 7. You would have to consider what story would qualify him for a big role in Episode 8 and that is either coming out of hiding, or struggling with the dark side himself.

My thought process is still that Luke ended up just going in to hiding, just like Yoda did for the fact that he would only be a threat to Han and Leia. He found out really fast that there are other Dark side users (First Order) who are looking to destroy all Jedi.

If Luke has a connection with Ren, it's one that Ren or someone Ren knows met up with Luke in the past and lost a fight in some type of form. Ren became educated with the past Jedi/Sith and because he is a Darkside user chose to be infatuated with Vader's mission and life. In books and in video games (after EP6) Vader was immortalized with statues and more.

I am kind of excited about this movie.

I loved 4-6 didn't mind 1-3 though they could have done without Jarjar. I really didn't like GL going back and editing 4-6 the way he did after watching them before the changes it just felt weird.

I saw 1 - 3 in the theater at release midnight. I don't mind saying it. Yes, I didn't mind them either, but by the time Revenge of the Sith was released, I knew the whole story line of the movie, which didn't deter me from seeing it.

I knew the only way the Sith were to get away with what they did was to have Yoda be off planet. That was beyond obvious, so when it happened in the movie, I wasn't surprised.

I was surprised at how they played that out though. Yoda saying he had good relations with the Wookies.

I am disappointed it didn't show more of Anakin killing. I really wanted to see Vader go through the Temple and kill everything, including 2 master jedis.

There is a good read regarding this on starwars.com, but I wanted to have a movie visual. Oh well.

I am really hoping they make a movie about Vader. I want to see exactly what he did to hunt down the remaining Jedi and destroy everything in his way. Of course there were times he did suffer and I want to see that in a nice 2 or 2.5 hour movie.

This. The Thrawn trilogy deserved the film treatment, or at least borrow elements from it.

This film is more Disney mass marketing junk than Star Wars in that regard, but I digress I still will watch the fuck out of it.

ex. mass marketing: black storm trooper main character, adam driver is a very young main character. Han Solo was young but also mature, same for Leia. Daisey Ridley and Driver just scream millennial hipster to me, and it detracts from the Star Wars feel but Disney needs their monies worth from everyone, not just the "fans".

At least the black dude doesn't have that young milennial/hipster look to him. Even luke in Episode 4 looked a tad more mature in a "I'm very young, but you can also tell I'm destined for greater purpose" type of look. Ridley can pass for underage and looks like she just got her learners permit, maybe this is intentional but far cry from very young but mature Leia. Driver looks like he just turned legal drinking age, hoping it works but not the best casting for a young sith.

Oscar Isaac is the only main character casting that is dead-on classic Star Wars to me. They nailed this role big time. Looking forward to seeing what he can do with the role. Even very excited you might say.

He's matured a lot since 2010 the past few years and actually looks like good casting. I hadn't been following him and rushed to judgement. Will have to wait and see what hes bringing to the film.

Exactly what I am thinking. I am pretty sure they will get PG on this one. MAYBE not Ep8 and 9 though.

I understand Star Wars is supposed to be kids friendly but PG-13 I feel would be perfectly fine for all of these.

Yea I think the 1st movie will be similar to the Phantom Menace, its even got the same story line, characters, and plot.

Remake of TPM does not bode well for the makings of a classic installment to the Star Wars IP. 70% of this movie could be made up of the dung shit that droid steps in.

No matter WHAT happens with these movies, there is no reason to be mad... Because, IT CANNOT GET ANY WORSE THAN IT ALREADY HAS GOTTEN.

enjoy what parts of it are enjoyable and forget what parts arnt, the same way you forget 3/3 movies they made those 14ish years ago.
