View Full Version : Enchanters on red?

How good are they? Will I die any time I have a pvp encounter? I'm interested in trying red out after years on blue but I really only play chanters and have no interest in another class. If I'm going to be on a pvp server, I'd like to have a decent shot at winning in pvp battles. Thanks ahead of time for the answers.

If you are anal about eating deaths in pvp don't.
It's apart of playing a chanter here. Getting ganked will happen, you won't be ready and you will die.
But with some time and setup, you can mess people up hard. Just like pve, chanters are hard-mode, but come with insane opportunities in pvp.
Give it a shot, I bet you will like the challenge.

Most enchanters are terrible. But the ones that are good are *very* good. High demand and can change a battle. Maybe 6 great enchanters on this server, 5 at 60. After that, maybe 10 that are great PvE and decent PvP. After that...0-100's.
Give it a shot, but you absolutely need to think differently about how to play it compared to the other casters. As people said, they are hard mode. The enchanter in our guild has three fast pages of spells up front because he is constantly changing over his gems during PvP.

enchanter good class but yeah you will die almost every time you participate in group pvp if you are doing your job right

if u like it just b one tho. yes youll 'have a shot' at winning a majority of fights, but any class will take time to learn including chanters
ppl get a weird elitist view of them, but they are realistically much easier to play than a melee without gear and you level/farm better than anyone. fast track to 60 where melee gear overtakes you and you conveniently get your unresistable mez to compensate
also desired in every crew while you figure out what works and what doesnt
arguably the best, easiest class for just starting out here

you may not win most 1on1's but you can sure keep yourself from dying most of the time.

enc's are disgusting. you can crush people in 1v1's if you know what youre doing. obviously theres a learning curve but with time you will get the hang of it.
classes that dot can be difficult as dot dmg ignores rune. you can still slay them if you buff yourself correctly and leave the top 1-2 slots open (their dot lands, you dispel it, then continue shitting on them)
that said, if youre really a solid player, in group pvp you will probably be targeted early as people will recognize that youre a serious threat and focus you. you can still live but it will get rough.
if you have any questions about tactics or spell choices, msg cinderella or kerafyrm. ill be more than happy to shoot the shit with you for a bit.

heh, chanters one of the best pvp classes, its one of the most powerfull pve classes and that translates into pvp. not that hard to play at all, learn to bottom slot charm and give em a hard time if they go for a pet pell, not many ways of doing dmg but u can work that out, depending on the situation ofc, worst can happen is that u just evade the fight easily. lvl 52ish mezz is low resist, also works on 110 - 130 mr and will land 99% of the times after a tash against almost anyone.
dont worry about dots, u need to be so skilled to be able to pvp without cure pots and even then ull be sneaking away from lots of fights u could have won with em. so just get some and pell those dots, anyway gettin doted is a lot of pressure as a chanter even if u dispell so dont let em cast dots on u if u can.
pd: pm strut or jacobim in game, theyre the best chanters ive seen out there pvp wise, strut is really helpfull not sure about jacobim since hes an ass

my chanter got to lvl 20 only. but he is right im an expert at everything. so just ask
oh, also had a 52 chanter trialed in lex invictus back on tz live with whom i pvped like a madman not sure if that counts, was long ago durin luclin times against high mr people. chanters got a lot of ways to work pvp encounters out but u can listen to uton, one of the best pvp necros on the box. hes got a lot of experience
Pretty much the most influential PVP class. Chanters might have the highest skill cap, very few people go on to play it to it's full potential.
Aside from myself, twerk, letsjoe, and Kecleon I have a hard time recalling people that actually understood the play style.

Hide, keep range, dispel, debuffs, rapture. Pretty obvious what you need to do. Players that constantly watch their back probably shine more because enchanter needs preparation and suffers from being caught off guard more than any other class.

Figured I would Post on this with some various tips that I learned for successfully pvping/staying alive in the level 50 range.
49-55 Range pvp what I did.
1) Initiation: Get a bracer of the hidden cast that before tashing them. This eats up 2 junk buff slots.
2) Instead of using Glamour of Kintaz instead use your AoE mez if possible Fascination It is 75 less mana and a -10 MR check and lasts longer.
3) Buff Stripping: If that mez lands start debuffing. For Hybrids often one Recant/Pillage enchantment is enough for the low 50's pvp. Druids/Shms Take 2 Debuffs.
4) Setup: After you have dispelled time to enter the setup. Cripple + Weakness Stack and Gasping Embrace. you should only use the dot if you are ready to kill.
5a) Regular pet: If you have the jump on someone and want to get your animation to attack someone without them hitting you (ex you mezed debuffed and encumbered them before they knew you were even on them) Cast level 29 feedback on them and hit them the damage shield will cause your pet to attack them.
5b) Charmed pet: Finding the right pet for PvP. Check the Wiki for Mobs that are level 45-50. Rogue pets are great for massive dps (almost all of them can double back stab rarely) They do however not bash so stopping gate is harder *relies on push*. Giving a pet a torch causes them to duel wield thus making them quad. Once you have found the pet you would like to charm you should consider how to ensure it doesn't become a detriment in pvp. Most people who fight enchanters say just dispel it and the fight is over a quick counter on that is to pad it with some buffs so it is much harder to dispel.
Cast Allure, Click the bracer of hidden on it, Cast Shadow 49 ac buff, Cast Brilliance (Shadow and Brilliance are tough to dispel spells that take 2 casts of Cancel and Nullify magic to dispel or one cast of Annul Magic). After that I just Haste the pet.
Once you have buffed the pet you need to break the charm tash the pet then mez it. This will cause your second cast of allure to be at the very back of the buffs.
If you notice someone dispelling your pet start to spam your bracer of hidden on it. as they are trying to dispel they will most likely be getting crushed by it.
When you have a charmed pet and someone is mezed make sure you take the time to position the pet behind them as with the game mechanics you cannot use parry/dodge/riposte from behind and the general accuracy of hits goes way up (pets bash WAY more from behind resulting in stuns).
I will write some more at a later date on this but for now gonna play some everquest Any Feedback/Advice Is welcome! Can message me in game on Strut/Starfox my two characters.
Good luck

as you're leveling up and MR is low there is nothing more fun than mezing everyone in range in a group and killing them 1 by one.

yea like everyone said, amazing pvp class, easily the highest priority to-kill class in group/mass pvp
it's very hard to actually kill people for an enchanter once the people you are fighting have MR gear, but you serve up kills for people better than any other class in the game
enchanters are very easily countered by crimson potions(~10 platinum from vendors) due to the fact that the buff is a 1 dmg/tick DoT which will break mezzes, but if/when you get a shield of the immaculate you can cure that buff off and the only thing that stops someone from being mezzed is a stinging wort potion, which very few people carry/use, as well as self-casted poison/magic DoTs
tl;dr great class but it yields very little glory

relatively easy to set hotkeys and rapture in a group and win a few for the team
free aon
basically the easiest class ever to level and join red cannot say more
is op even still considering red? looks like we're just talking to eachother here

Good write up. I always break pet, mez then tash and charm. This will leave the top slot open for people who try to root your pet. If someone roots pet, pumice, bracer of hidden and pet is back to destroying.
Strut is the best, nice write up amigo.
