I believe I followed all the instruction correctly but I get an error when I try to run EQ.
Any ideas?

looks like your install might be corrupted. if you continue to get this error I would uninstall and try again.
A defrag on your drive wouldn't hurt either.

Is it working for you yet man?
Try this...
When you get to the login screen click the OPTIONS button. click set default on the resolution screen (second one)
then try to run it again.
if you get in game then click the EQ button click make fullscreen then adjust your screen resolution to the proper one.
hope to see you ingame soon! Also Start a Non-evIL character first so Steinka and Curative can help you better. If your character can start in freeport even better!

What is happening before you get that error? Does it load then give the error? Does it give the error as soon as you run everquest.exe? Does it look like its trying to change resolutions when it gives the error?

It never gets to any kind of screen. I launch the shortcut, screen goes black and the error message pops up.

Sounds like a crash due to resolution, I had something similar happen but only when I actually tried to join the server. I believe if you search for resolution crashes there are instructions on changing resolution in the eq client files manually. Hope this helps

You guys nailed it. It was the rez. Had to go into the shortcut and set it to 640x480. Loads just fine now. Thanks
