I can make this work, but before changing anything there are other healing messages in the same area.


1. Should any 'heal over time' spells generate messages? Celestial Healing for example currently displays 'You have healed name for X points of damage.' Not sure if that should be the case and a quick search didn't provide evidence.

2. Right now, it looks like any healing message is blocked if it is less than 100hp. Pre-Luclin, the amount healed should be irrelevant, correct?

3. Additionally, I see healing spells are providing the name of the caster to the recipient. According to logs and this patch from 2003, it doesn't seem that should be the case. Any differing opinions or research?


- Healing Messages now include the name of the healer - In order to make it
clearer who has healed you, we have changed the message that you receive
when healed. It will now include the name of the character casting the
healing spell: "Bob has healed you for 300 points of damage".

I seem to recall heals over time were actually short duration regen buffs, so were probably didn't generate a message?

2. Right now, it looks like any healing message is blocked if it is less than 100hp. Pre-Luclin, the amount healed should be irrelevant, correct?

Not sure if this matters / anyone cares but as I was just playing my necro alt last night, my Dark Mending does report the 30hp it heals or whatever, but my Mend Bones on my pet does not, both are much less than 100hp healed.

Not sure if Dark Mending type spells go through a different path to report its numbers or if thats intended or what.

Dark Empathy? That would be considered a lifetap I believe, and follow a different code path (not direct heals).

Sorry yes, Dark Empathy, the one where you lose some life and heal someone else. I get the healing messages from that on my target.

1. Should any 'heal over time' spells generate messages? Celestial Healing for example currently displays 'You have healed name for X points of damage.' Not sure if that should be the case and a quick search didn't provide evidence.


Looked through many additional logs and found no evidence of this. I don't believe the healing 'ticks' displayed messages.

How about buffs that provide hitpoints - should they report healing amounts? For example casting courage, daring, or valor? I don't recall a Deepwater Helm providing a message of how much it was healing for, just that I felt "daring." These logs seem to support that:

I know we don't like going off memories - but I'm pretty sure I remember casting on myself and looking at the HP change to see how much my new buffs / heals did. I remember being excited when my heal finally said "soandso feels much better" (as opposed to better / little better) because I dinged and got Healing.

I know you have them, but I'll see if I find anything pertinent in my logs.
