i don't think one of these exists yet, but realistically it should. and the fact that it doesn't, makes me sad. i can't be the only person bored at work, trying to look busy.

i need to find better food options though for real. my lunch options are currently limited to sandwiches from the gas station. my last job spoiled me, there were so many restaurants. Chinese place, a breakfast place, a bakers square, a hipster place with square plates. my worst option was Subway.

should start an event where everyone makes me lunch on a different day and the best one gets a mask IRL that they can call a guise of the deceiver :P

hows all the rest of your days going?

On lunch break at panera. After I'll probably head back to work and play some hearthstone till work picks up.

What I do is mass cook pasta / rice dishes and freeze a bunch of tupoware (sp?) to save money and time. All sorts of combos to choose from.

I play on the phone while I'm out of the office on lunch. I play on my laptop while at work. We actually rent the Lab in the basement which is downstairs from the actual Dentist office.

So basically we rent the Lab for next to nothing and we give the doctor above a 10% discount on all work.

I am very happy that I can reach this website from work. I am fearing one day Bluecoat will figure out this is about 'games' and it will be blocked.

Anyway, my wife made me a egg, ham, bacon and cheese burrito for breakfast and I have Lays Lime Chili chips, Turkey & cheese sandwich, banana, carrots and green bell peppers with cookies for lunch. Oh, and a Sprite.

My options outside of bringing food to work are a crappy cafe that sells OVER PRICED food (hate AAFES), or short drive to burger king, some sub place, pizza, popeyes chicken and....umm if I go off base I can go to Filibertos or Radolfos and get a bad ass Carne Asada burrito.

First off, I am crazy bored at work today. Tomorrow will be an insane work-load, but today, it's just mind numbing. With the hurricane coming up the east coast, and all these rains, the day is particularly sleepy. The lack of work is making me drowsy.

I am limited for food options in my town as well. Aside from fast food, we have Wawa (which is like a in n out one-stop shop type place that sells hoagies and soups) and just hoards of pizza shops. The lack of variety is lame. Last couple weeks, I've just been slapping together some sandwiches with home grown vegetables from my garden.

Most of the time, however, I wake up too late to make myself any lunch in the morning.

Going with Taste of Asia today. Good ole reliable Sweet & Sour Chicken. Chicken Fried Rice, no veggies, extra egg - always an outstanding option though. lucky for me there is literally about everything you could ever imagine within a reasonable distance of my office. Good lunch options can not be over rated enough.

These numbers look like what happened at my old job when we were understaffed for the holiday rush and had to steal a CSR who could type at 180wpm to help answer the 200 emails that came in overnight on top of the 100 we failed to get to the day before.

This is the kind of load you get for a medium-sized company's CS department.

I had a couple of questions about guides.

How much time does one have to have available to commit to the server in order for it to make a difference?

I know GM's don't play on p99, but I don't remember the rules about guides playing. Are there any restrictions on where guides can play?

You have a microwave at work?

Not in this order, but:

When you are home make some spaghetti with pre-made meatballs from any supermarket. Dump some sauce in there, have a nice dinner with some left overs. Go to walmart, buy some cheap Tupperware, BAM! Lunch next day.

Make your own chili:

Get a nice big pot. 3lbs of ground beef (the leaner the better), 5 or 6 cans of Chili beans (not Hormell or Stagg) like Bush or Kroger. Get 3 or 4 cans of Kidney beans (drain them, DO NOT use the juice inside. Rinse them as well). 2 Large cans of Petite tomatoes like 24 or 32 oz (add juice and all).

Spices needed: Cumin, Chili powder and garlic salt. If you want you can add black pepper for some flavor as well.

Fresh veggies: 2 Large Onions. I like chopping them up but in big chunks. 10 Jalapeno or Serrano peppers. If you want big spice add Habeneros. Use either minced garlic or chop up your own.

I suggest you cook the ground beef before throwing ALL that stuff in the pot. Do not over cook it though because it's going to boil with all the other stuff.

When you first throw everything in the pot put the stove on 2 or 3 setting. Low....it takes a LONG time to heat up but if you try to heat it up fast you'll burn the bottom.

That is one of the best things I learned to make when single. I still make it today.

You can mix it up too and put can of whole tomatoes in. I like chunky chili, so all my veggies are large chunks.

Overall you'll spend about 2 hours on that chili project, but damn it's worth it.

Crackers and Tillamook Sharp Chedder Cheese on the side. I am freaking drooling right now and I just ate lunch.

EDIT: USE ALL THE JUICE from the chili beans. it is a must. Also stir it often. Like every 5 minutes for the first 30 to 45 mins, then every 15 mins after.

we look for at least 20 hrs a week, if you cant give us at least 15 hrs a week, its probably not worth it tbh. but i mean, those are minimums. being a guide is a lot of horribly tedious work for a lot of people, most of whom are very ungrateful. if a guide ever happens to help you, you should remember to thank him imo. a lot of people apply thinking they will just run events and do fun things, and while thats cute as hell, theres actual work that needs to be done. we'd all love to host and have events, but the sad truth is, there just isnt enough hours for all of that until we get caught up.

as far as playing, guides are allowed to play, which is part of why we are so picky in regards to whom we bring on the staff. there are a lot of players that would make excellent guides but would get insta vetod over some small detail if its seen as having the potential to put the server, the staff, or the players at risk. GMs however are not allowed to play. so myself, Rogean Jesus, and the Lady Angel Nilbog wont be seen farming phat pixels, but guides are indeed allowed to play.

if you think you wanna help and are willing and able to give us 15-20 hrs a week, put in an app, or bump the old one. sometimes we see super old apps and have no way of knowing if the person is still interested unless they bump it (id say bump once or twice a month at most).

sorry missed that bit at the end. Guides cant do their own CSR, they also cant do CSR for their guildmates or their friends (IRL or InGame), and they also arent ever allowed to have their play character and their staff character in the same zone. and *i think* thats it as far as restrictions go.

Suggestions:
-Actually work (it passes the time)

Less drastic solutions to killing time (what I do)
-Nap in the board room or server room
-YouTube.com: Might I suggest an episode of "Butch Patterson: Private Dick"? It's a detective show about a hard drinking, premature ejaculating, detective in a film noir style. Watch the first 5 minutes and you'll be hooked
-Errands: trip to the post office, doctors appt, make a shopping list for groceries, trip to the bank. Anything you don't want to do during your own time.
-Pub: Working downtown I find nothing wakes me up like a burger and a beer and a shot of tequila
-Cell phone games
-Look up ex-gfs on facebook and thank yourself that you're not with her now she's fat/has kids/is leading a cult devoted to your demise

There's lots of ways to kill time at work.

For my laptop in case I need to remote in someplace, I do contract work on the side. If you do contract work from your actual work it makes you feel like you're getting double paid, because you are.

Also I believe preferred nomenclature is "fag-bag" or "man-purse".

I'm a sys admin for a large tech company working on some pretty big things with some other big companies (most people here are probably using our product). I dont recommend the career though - desk jobs suck. I've got other irons in the fire that I'm working on, but its going to be another ~5 years before I can fully cut away from this industry.

Traveling is OK at first, but it gets really tiresome if it's 50%+ of your job.

Agreed! I've been traveling for work more in the last 8 years than I ever did before that. My busiest was 1 - 2 weeks a month, but its wound down now and im usually only 1 week per quarter now.

Being away from the fam aside, I get very tired of eating out when I travel, all the food starts to taste the same - no matter how good it is (and we get a pretty awesome food allowance but even then, it gets old). I usually make a grocery store run now instead of eating out for every meal, which helps alot.

Worst traveling job I worked was with General Dynamics. It wasn't the job specifically it was there management behind the travel reimbursement. They flat out would pay me almost 1 month after each travel assignment. It was very annoying.

I at least got a corporate card, but was responsible for the entire bill until they ran the paperwork. Again, it wasn't corporate, it was the local management that failed at their jobs.

Just like what you said, all food ends up tasting the same unless you start doing grocery shopping. Since I was usually on assignment for 2+ weeks at a time, on the weekends I would look up local attractions and take advantage of being in the area.

One example is in Colorado Springs there is a zoo on the side of a mountain. As far as I know, that is the only zoo on a mountain in the US. I also wanted to go see the old NORAD site, but didn't get around to it. I hear they do tours.

Anyway, traveling is worth it for 1 reason, money. As long as you are getting paid a decent amount, that's the end game.

Nice man. I brought in a dumbbell this morning to pass time. I've been meaning to for months but I've been lazy. :(

After your gym session, you should hop on game and rake in that x2 xp! GO GO GO!

Nice man. I have 5 hours left. Everyone have a nice weekend?

This morning I had a BIG breakfast burrito with Tater tots, ham chunks, cheese and egg. Work is a bit slow for me today, so I am working out (30lbs dumbbell) and working on updating my resume.

Well my week got off to a bad start. Yesterday (Sunday) I had some big issues to deal with at work (and im not even on call!). So I put in ~8 hours of work yesterday, and I'm still not done mopping up from the issue. Its a great way to jack up a weekend after having traveled all of the previous week. Luckily this sort of thing isnt the norm, so I deal with it...... but I am not bored at work today, at all, but at least I am back home.

Are you at one of these fancy startups that dispense beer to workers?

Or are you simply taking a page out of Don Drapers book and saying "Screw it"?

EDIT: Donk, what are you passions? Puppets? Backups? What the hell does that list say behind you.

i need to find better food options though for real. my lunch options are currently limited to sandwiches from the gas station. my last job spoiled me, there were so many restaurants. Chinese place, a breakfast place, a bakers square, a hipster place with square plates. my worst option was Subway.

Have you heard of this sweet restaurant called "the grocery store?" They have a ton of options and don't require tipping. They do make you put together your own food though. I highly recommend the loaf of bread, lunch meat, deli cheese, mustard, and side pickles and pretzels meal.

My roommate goes with the canned fish, vegetable, and sirracha meal. I'm not as adventurous as him, but his meal does look good.

yes yes, i know. but going out to lunch is a million times more fun. i use to have a coworker to eat with and we'd take turns paying the bill. it was nice. now i bring my lunch in a little thing. turkey and cheese sammy, with a snickers and a pack of fruit snacks (gushers ;) ). i have a couple bottles of water that i drink throughout the day. i just switch them at lunch. its not even close to the same, and its worth the extra $ for the joy it brings me :P

today is slow as shit so far. nothing to do and only 930. fuck. yesterday i only got 4 hrs of sleep and it flew by. today i get 6.5 hrs and i feel like death. explain that one science.
