Im here with my coffe, good morning lel.

I was thinking about the new players, also the vet ones. I wasnt so good at pvp untill i got the ropes of the mechanics and the playstyle needed for a red server. Things like free slots on buffs so u dont get bottomsloted, carry pumices and cure pots, play with ranges, waterdance...etc . Not sure if i want to share all my asjbhasd awesome pvp skills with u all so u can kill me (i guess i dont care rofl) but i think we should make a post where peple who has no clue on pvp could get some usefull info about it, and learn the basics so they can start improving.

from itemization, to a discussion of spells and casting times and effectinveness in pvp, dunno theres lots of things that can be told, i dont feel like writing down a guide or something, just discuss what uve learnt so anyone can come to this post and learn a bit. Thanks

i will gladly answer any bluebie question that comes up. Lets get more people involved in real pvp thanks.

someone who wants to keep learning, improving and having a challenge against other players, not play on a blue like server where most of the players dont know or doesnt bother to learn about pvp mechanics.

im better than him.

PD : on the topic, ive learnt a lot on this emu, much more than i knew from live, i guess cos i was 15 year old back then. There are some basics people from blue would never care about like right hot keying and buff sloting etc. those can easily go into a tip thread and then some good discussion about pvp. Most people here dont even know the basic things about ranges and casting times etc, they havent thought about it cos most just dont care since they got griefed etc. theres a lot of people who really dont care about pvp yet theyre playing here, if they learn they will pvp. is a lot of fun.

You had a good start

1) buff order
2) pumice
3) crimson pot
4) corner casting
5) water dancing
6) clickies to replenish top buff spots from dispels, telescope, goblin earring, bracer of hidden, jboots, etc.
7) learn to plug
8) hotkey /who on keys like w,a,s,d and have separate window so it is always refreshing
9) hotkey assist and targets
10) always levitate and look for height advantage as caster
11) cure pots for disease/poison
12) have 2-3 spots open in inventory for clickies
13) learn to range spells
14) first spell gem refreshes without cool down after using clicky (for most spells, not long recast time spells)

Surround yourself by at least 30 people. Preferably 50+.

Red99 has more elitist than any other game I've played lol. I fully support anything that gets population flowing in. This is why I stream

15) tash can be cured
16) malo can be pelled ( not 100% sure on this eventhou im a shaman? rofl i smoke too much )

about corner casting - u start casting at 1 point, u move around and end up in the same spot and the spell wont get interrupted, use corners for this to be doable - just in case blue people wonder what this is .

waterdancing - u cant get casted if ure on water and the other one not, if u have levi theres a way of gettin off and in, theres people who excel at this i dont. - pells can be casted anyway as well as heals, no sure about other spells? )

17) if you happen to come across someone with higher than 15% HP, gate/run/plug

DRAGONBAIT

Be fully buffed at all times ( it doesnt get as much time or mana as it seems, resists are first ones to go and takes no mana to rebuff and should go bottom sloted imo ) then hps and stats have longer timers so no biggie )

also sow bottom sloted u really dont want if off eventho u have jboots

that or just be /who aware and gate/zone/hide to rebuff and get pvp ready.

there are vets who played here for 4 years, they must know everything about pvp so just share and we all learn thanks

You'd be surprised how many people don't know number 14. I used this on my wizard to machine down draught of ice many kills, now with velious that spell will probably never see my spell bar again sadly.

There are a few more tricks of the trade that didn't make it here but that's what makes it special.

A non factor got it

^A good PvP tactic is not to act like this.^ It's real cool to be jaded and aloof, Krazy. You can go now, rustle complete.

I'm not going for any comprehensive treatment here, just a few points I've found to be important:

(MANNA CONSERVATION)

Four classes can ignore this, but for those of us with a manna pool you have to think of your manna out of combat as well as in. While traveling or returning to a city from a camp/group try to find a quiet spot to med to full.

We don't have all the time in the world to play and it may feel like a waste sometimes when you're just a zone over from where you want to be, but being 90%+ as often as you can manage will be the difference between surviving or dying.

Been plenty of situations where I decided to mow down a pair of Sand Giants in Oasis only to get wrecked by someone porting into Wiz Spires or leaving EC Tunnel in North Ro because is was running at 20% manna.

(CANCEL MAGIC)

I know I tend to disregard "inferior" versions of spell lines. When you have Nullify/Annul Magic, why even have Cancel Magic near page 1 of your book?

Cancel Magic is so useful because it only removes a -single- first-slot effect, whereas casting Pumice on yourself is only really effective as a positive dis-spell if you have tons of click-to-cast items bound to keyboard strokes. You might end up removing something important and give yourself an Achilles heel in the fight.

The majority of players on our server do not have a half dozen clickable spell items linked to movement keys.

(EFFECT STACKING)

When I log onto Red 99, my usual habit is to clean up my effects stack. Anything that I'm able to cast myself, I click off. Then I pull out every silly little utility/short duration spell in my spell book and fill the hotbar. Enduring Breath, Thorns, Invigor... I just fill as much of my buff window as possible with temporary/unimportant spells.

Then comes the real stuff. HP/AC, Movement Speed, Stat buffs, etc. When a fight begins, there's basically two ways the encounter will start: One/both opponents spams Nullify Magic until they feel the opponent is stripped or one/both go offensive right away. I've found usually a good idea to trade buffs if your opponent goes the Pumice route. At least you're BOTH stripped.

Vigilance in the next word. Don't let all that careful stacking go to waste, try to maintain a two-five slot buffer so you can removes DoT's and DeBuffs. It's a hard balancing act to maintain your manna AND be casting spells in this way. Just remember everyone else is doing this dance too.

Don't be oblivious! Keep your screen clean of excess windows and keep scanning that horizon!

Just ignore Krazy, the only thing he has factored into is his side consistently losing. So by definition being a non factor is doing better here than he ever has.

plus he is a confirmed dum dum potato

Which is really retarded when you think about how small the population here is compared to any other game.

People should be happy to have anyone to play with, trying to act like some sort of badass gamer when you're on a ~300(most of the time less than half of this #) MAX population server actually does make me cringe in real life.

make sure you have an empty slot in your inv and also your shield in a slot and also your offhand inventory slot in a slot so that you can fast swap from 2 hander to shield and bash

All good info. Haven't played EQ in 12 years, started on Red the other night and things are slowly coming back. Forgot how much GFay sucks w/o a group. I find myself nodding a lot to these going "Oh, yeah...."

Need to brush up on macros as well.

Plugging is really that common? Blizzy was notorious on VZ back in the day for that shit, and it wasn't an acceptable behavior then. Actually the coin got termed BlizzyModem(tm), since no one had high speed internet back then.

That's some lame shit.
