Hey guys,
I have always been fascinated by Necro, and back in 2000 I think I probably leveled one up to mid teens before my alt-itis kicked in and I rolled something else. This time around in Norath I have better self control. I have got my raiding monk to 60, my naggy bard to 52, and now its time to make my solo character!!!
I realize most casters are very gear independent and you could theoretically level naked, but my favorite thing to do in EQ is twink. For me it is really fun to gear out low level characters with loot and be overly powerful, and its even more fun when i can farm the items myself - it builds attachment to the future character when you are farming stuff for him even if its on a "main".
With this in mind, are there any items I have overlooked that I should get my hands on? The big one that comes to mind is the Staff of Dread Gaze or whatever it is, but I think I will wait to get that since its a 15-20k item, has a sh!t drop rate, and I may end up hating Necro.
So far I have farmed....
Topjam Robe(sp?) from Sebelis (body)
Circlet of Shadows (head)
Book of Twlight (off hand from)
Cone of Mystics (main hand)
Hooded Black Cape (back)
Diamondine Earring x2 (ear)
100hp 5 AC rings x2 (ring)
500 plat for spells - and a full set of bags
I don't want to go full OCD and get EVERY piece filled in, but if there is something useful I am missing please let me know - Was thinking about trying for a bracer of hidden and goblin ring from LOIO, but that might be fun to try to farm on the necro once he is 20-30

Haha hey! I'm the random that transferred this gear to your alt last night.
I assure you, your gear is better then what the new folks are starting with.
low level bulk mana and health items are win. Zland heart is a swanky item too with the regen.

That's about all you need for a Necro.
I'm a big fan of the http://wiki.project1999.com/Words_of_Darkness
The clicky itself is good for a few things.
1. It's an instant clicky to remove global cool down that doesn't kill your pet or break your charm like CoS does.
2. Serves as a junk buff
3. At higher levels it's the highest Lich spell without an illusion meaning you can have semi-okay mana regen when running between zones while losing 0 HP.
I believe the quest is MQable, so you can gather everything but 300 gold onto your main and MQ it to yourself.

I'd like to piggy back onto this thread.
I'm lv19 necro. This is my only character, I would love to hear more ideas of gear. My best item currently is a silk robe :p haha.

wow thank you for linking every single item usable by necromancers ... that's so helpful.
sarcasm aside, I was looking for actual insight from those who have come before me.

Ok, you are going to be hunting a lot of Undead, so Magic Resist gear for casters and Diaease Resist gear for those nasty Rabies giving mobs. Of course +int and +mana is always good.
HP gear because HP = Mana for Necros
Yuo did notice that that list could be broken down by slot and then sorted by desired stat, did you not?
But truely, a necro could go nekkid as long as he had a bag full of bone chips. Anf if your Necro is anything but an Iksar, why bother?

I was hoping to gain insight.
Aka this was easy to farm here.
This one quest wasn't worth it.
This one is worth it.
Look to buy these, they're cheap/worth it.
Etc..
Anyone can look up items and sort by stat.
I found some NToV loot on your list, time to go farm it on my 19 nec!
A Smoldering Brand is a great 1h weapon especially with the Tola robe. You can tank and lifetap stuff to death for a good while. Well worth the ~500pp IMO. Just pretend you are a shitty SK until like level 29 or so.
I managed to be the "Tank" in a Highkeep group one night, was me(necro) and 3 clerics and a shaman haha. Works better than you would think.
Also Silvery mask is like 100 pp for +25 HP. 65hp/mana necklace is great too. Giant Scalemale Legs are great for necros too.

http://wiki.project1999.com/ShadowBound_Armor_Quests
Mid 20s quests, the part from shadowmen can be kinda rough but decent items if you are really in silk still.
If you are human or erudite, Flayed skin is decent and is often given away by people.
http://wiki.project1999.com/Shadowed_Knife can be found on a goblin headmaster (level 25ish) in OOT
http://wiki.project1999.com/Singe in Sol A (level 28) roams up near the top and isn't to bad in your upper 20s to kill can drop http://wiki.project1999.com/Obsidian_Bead_Hoop
all lowish level stuff that you can get while exping
if you want to buy
Loam encrusted armor can be had for 3-800 slot cept and is decent

AHHHGGGGGGGGG - I have seen about 50 of these drop in the hole and I am almost positive that I transferred mine to my bard and then gave away to a random person because I had a BoH and CSS i was using instead (yes it procs at 1, but it doesn't proc often). This is a great recommendation, and the nut kicker is I had this item for a very long time but gave it away.
Someone in my guild has to have one laying around I am sure, off to the Asgard forums!!!

Sesserdrix has a gear section in his guide (http://wiki.project1999.com/Sesserdrix's_All_in_One_Necromancer_Strategy_Guide ), which I recommend highly!
