I am familiar wit the stats compared to the average human.

I think an A level athlete trained properly would have a fair chance, gorillas do know how to punch but it doesn't get used as a primary attack in a face-off style fight. They mostly "warning" punch beta apes in the chest, shoulder, and back when they aren't looking to assert dominance. In a real square-off type scenario they try to wrestle and slam and claw.

Based on this, due to the fact gorillas don't have natural "punch his head off" instincts, I give our best human a very strong chance of being able to knock a gorilla out. But maybe they don't need to punch a humans head, they could punch anywhere and perhaps cause a fight-ending injury

The thing I would be most worried about is the bone density. The human would have to land on the cheek/face area to effectively land a punch without breaking his hand. Hitting the forehead/skull would be suicide as even with wraps and boxing gloves the hand would break instantly.

Also I have no idea if the central nervous system of a gorilla, considering its skull structure and density, is even susceptible to a human punch even from one of our best. Just look at the difference between a Samoan human, and an average human in their ability to take punches. Its scary.

This is actually not true. While a man would have no chance against a full grown gorilla, these statistics of a chimp being X stronger than a human, is based off of an "average human"

A very large human that has trained with weights and fighting for years would be drastically stronger than an "average human" and could easily kill said human with his own bare hands.

So say a heavyweight figther such as Brock Lesner in his MMA prime, vs an average 150lb chimpanzee, I would put all of my money on the human. But a 200lb freak chimpanzee vs a small female, well..we all know how that ends.
