Riot obviously doesn't contribute as much to Escapist operating budget as Bethesda.
TES games are literally the opposite of addictive, that's their whole problem.

So you must think Daybreak paid The Escapist a ton of money to feature their 15 year old game. Thats the logical conclusion of what you're saying.
And if TES games were the opposite of addictive, surely they wouldn't sell the way they do?

It's really not, though. A more reasonable conclusion, considering the fact that the other games on the list actually make some sense, would be that Bethesda paid for the favor of putting a game that thrives solely thanks to having a greater marketing budget than any other game yet made (which exponentially increases the probability of what I'm saying being true...) on a list comparing it to good games. This is what gives this shill article the sheen of legitimacy that allows it to fly under the noses of uncritical thinkers such as yourself.
Or maybe it's just a shit list written by someone with Reddit taste in games.

I've never found WRPGs addictive. I thought this was something most could relate to. They lack that "gamey" one-more-turn or one-more-round quality since they're basically just an endless grind of incremental skill gain with little change in gameplay and ability set as you progress.
It's a valid gameplay model, it's just the polar opposite of what I'd call "addictive". More like relaxing. I don't think addictive potential is even close to the only thing that causes a game to sell well.

Indeed. People like Flash, Jaedong, Boxer are like national heroes lol.. they have tournament finals attended by crowds larger than the superbowl and starcraft is on TV on a regular basis
