I wanted to know if it's usefull to have tradeskill level (far) above the trivial level of the recipe.
2 tradeskills to developp for the coldain ring : smithing and tailoring (41 each). Another carac will do the brewing component for
tailoring.
- For smithing, as there is only buyable components, it s not really a problem. I get 82 in less than 2 hours (travel to grobb included)
- For tailoring, as I need silks, pelts and brewing components, may i aim to 41 only or it's better to have more than that (tooks me 5 hours getting the 5 pelts, so...).
To summarize, does the % of fail decrease as you level up your skill abose recipe's trivial ?
Yes i know, there is always a 5% fail...
Thanks!

Yes the higher your skill then the trivial the less chance you have to fail something. Think its 100 points higher then triv to have 95% chance of success. Thats what it is on live forget if it was different for classic. But in reality for the rings having a 65-80 in tailoring should be easy enough.

In my experience, fail rate typically drops dramatically as soon as a recipe goes trivial. Judging by my recent Brewing powerskill on this server, Mino Hero Brews fail at ~5% rate in the last 15-20 points before trivial (248). My experience making trivial items is less recent and was less intensive - but I feel like it drops to about 1% at that point.
It's possible that each recipe/skill could produce different numbers though. i.e. Perhaps each tradeskill has a fail rate modifier and/or each recipe has a fail rate modifier. It seems like a lot of people are failing the ring blanket with Tailoring at or slightly above 41. I failed the hunting knife with 95 skill...
Just wild guesses ...

100 points higher is not how it works at all.
cliff notes:
70 for blanket and knife and 230 for brewing.
Further explanation:

For things w/ lower than trivial of 68:
Chance of success = MIN(Skill - Trivial + 66, 95)
Plug in 70 and 41 in there and you get 95
Chance of success = MIN(SKILL - (.75*trivial) + 51.5, 95) -- this is for things w/ trivial higher than 68.
Plug in 230 and 248 in there and you get 95
Math FTW. Note you are way above trivial for the blanket and knife but actually below trivial for the ale.

Thanks for info!
I did the 2 items with 82 smithing and 79 tailoring (no more kiola sap :D)
and the tradeskill table rocks.
