Both the spiderlings and large spiders are casting weak poison. It's a 6HP per tick dot for 1 min. Spiderlings should not be casting any poison.
Large spiders should be casting Feeble Poison.

I'd check to see what poisons the snakes are casting too. I haven't really messed with the snakes, but moss snakes should have feeble and tree snakes should have weak.

I believe this is an issue across all zones. Spiderlings in EC & Everfrost cast poisons as well.

Now I don't feel so embarrassed for nearly dying due to these guys as a newb.

Almost dying? It's nearly impossible unless you can cure poison, heal or are twinked. At level 3 I have 54 hp buffed. Weak poison is 60 dmg
over its duration. Yeah, sitting helps but not enough if you take damage during the fight.

Bandages. I max out my skill every level.
But, yes I have died due to the poison as well.

On a side note, I noticed that a multitude of newbie area snakes not only poison, but assist each other as well. I can say with 100% certainly that snakes never assisted each other in combat.

I have to /sign this. Just started this server as a Dark Elf SK and the spiders cast some strong poison for the level. The spiders and snakes are also socially assisting each other, like Cubehacker stated, which I know for a fact that they should not be. Also, the default bind point is wacked in Nek. Not sure if it's like that for all nub chars, but it's a pain.
