Hello all. I'm sure many people know of this tool, but I know a lot of people do not. Many people who played EQLive for years didn't know til I told them about it. Many told me they wished they had known about it years ago.

In a text box type '/note' and a blank notepad type screen appears. Whatever you type in stays in until you delete it; there is no 'Save' required. It is really great for putting information you want to be able to reference quickly.

The file it uses is in the main EQ directory and is called 'notes.txt'. You can edit it with Notepad to put in, say, steps for a quest. When you want to view it, just type /note.

Just wanted to let everyone know about it. Enjoy!

WAT?! I can't wait to get home to try this! It will totally help me remember if I put someone on my friends list because I likes them or hates them.

And it is one file that can be read by all your characters. Even on seperate accounts if they share the same main directory.

Saves paper and therefore saves trees. Environmentalism, EQ-style!

Also saves me from having to read my own writing.

In the Game Update on November 15, 2000, we added the Notes Window to EverQuest. It is available to everyone!

Certainly was not its own window during this server's proposed timeline.

/note was a command line that output text to a .txt file. You would then have to completely log out of the game, browse to your folder then open the file in a text editor to see your note unless you had your drive networked and pulled it up on another computer or used WinEQ.

http://www.tski.co.jp/baldio/patch/20001115.html

Added the /note command. /note will append the following text to a file called 'notes.txt' in your EverQuest directory. For instance, typing '/note This is a note' will put 'This is a note' on the next line in the notes.txt file.

The note window was added in September 2002.

http://www.tski.co.jp/baldio/patch/20020904.html

Updated the /note window. The old /note command still works as it always has. But you can now use /note without additional text to produce a text window for entering note text. The /note command window should not break existing skins.

/pizza would be amazing. though encourages rmt.

seriously though, i just save this sort of info into macros. note would have been useful, but now the arbitors of classic have spoken.
