For those of you that play on Red99 server, why do you keep playing on it when there are +1000 players on blue right now?
I am not playing actively on either server, and haven't played blue since red came out, but at the same time, the case for blue is very strong right now.
Not a lot of PVP on red anyways. Only 1 guild really, and no low level action at all unless you AFK in unrest or mm for hours. Basically if you try to get a good group going on someone is going to screw it up, but then its over and you lose 30 minutes or so and go back to business or your group is dismantled.. so mainly just an inconvenience.
So what are your reasons for staying on red?
I stay because I can't let go of the dream of a good PVP server and this is the closest thing we have.
Why do you stay?

What is the incentive to go play on blue? you state it has a lot more players, but never say why that is a good thing or makes the game better over there.

I like the ability to have planned raids ahead of time, and the pvp in off hours. I can only imagine how bad things are like WW Dragons, raid mobs, gem camps, etc. on blue. I think the perfect pop is around 600-800. Anything more is too crowded in classic.

Most of my friends play there. Its fun to log in and talk to them. The additional suspense and challenge that pvp brings to trying to do anything. The lack of bis gear and the challenge of some things when you don't have bis items

Back on Live.. the community on the Pvp servers was a less toxic and a lot better in general.. probably because the amount of players diluted the pool of retards.
Generally speaking i find the average EQ player on red is much better then the average blue player in terms of skill and usually personality also.

This is pretty far fetched. Any good open world game means that lots of players means lots of power.
Closed zone games are not really MMO's IMO ;0

Large population is good to water down the riff raff, more people to combat and trade with, more friends and more enemies. More fighting for spawns. Thriving economy.

most games have encounters that involve more than just spam ch and using walls. there are also caps on raid engagements meaning you cant just zerg down content like we do here. to say EQ takes any kind of skill, compared to mmos out there, is ridiculous. time sink != skill.

I actually find it easier to get groups on Red as a new player as people dont care if your not super twinked.
I just started a toon in rags, got from lvl 1 to 40 in no time at all, without playing ridic neckbeard hrs.
The groups have a more classic feel, I've been in 100% caster groups in dungeons like Uguk with everyone in rags shits fun as hell haha.
Also sayin there isnt any action to be had as a lowbie is not tru at all, I have either been able to start a group or join one within 20mins or so of loggin on every night.
Ill play wit mah 300 toxic red hommies over 2000 blue eq snobs anyday

I dunno what you were saying about final fantasy online, is it hard or just take a long time to do stuff?
EQ takes a different kind of skill, but no MMO takes the really "skilly" kind of skill like a game like street fighter requires, or real life achievements might acquire. I play R99 (when I play) because it is the most enjoyable MMO still.
And to Malevz I am saying a large pop on red server, blue server remains blue despite high pop.
Really though I don't think anyone claims that everquest is a high skill game. It takes dedication, some game knowledge and devotion all of which are in short supply in most players, so most players fail.

lol no players in halas or blackburrow, welcome to the past 4 years of red pal where no newbie is dumb enough to start several zones away from a ring or spire. wtf
Real players like to progress where they aren't going to get dumped on. Half or more of playable content is totally empty because of nearly unsustainable low population. Makes the game sad. Level 60 game here is pretty solid, the real game (level 1-50) is not.

Sounds like Gustoo wants to bum around in newbie zones and talk to low level players. Great, wow, that's one thing you can do on blue to your heart's content that isn't available here. Big fucking deal.
We have an exp bonus here, people aren't low level for long. Why would you care about something like this? Go to a populated high level zone and chat with people, there are plenty of cool people here that need help.

Server is about dead for me.
I'm still in the leveling phase, and I play off peak hours, and before velious finding groups to XP was still possible. Now it's nigh impossible.
Starting to consider p2002 or something like that as I can't see myself heading to blue where there won't be any option to touch any raid content.

I play Red because of the low pop. Fuck groups. I'm an independent gnome. I like to solo, and everything is camped on Blue. Everything. Also, I like to kill nerds. Red is great for that.
My only gripe with Red is the economy. There kinda isn't one. It takes weeks to gear an alt. I don't really get it, either. I played Blue back when the pop was as low Red's is now, and it wasn't like this. People still sold things.

This is precisely the attitude that makes new players flee from Red. Stay away from Red PR processes.
Secondly, if you knew what you were talking about you would know that as a newbie, the Qeynos area is the best place to get XP and Cash on any server.

I just started playing on red because I got bored with blue. Played blue off and on for over 2 years. Have a 53 monk, 52 chanter and 45 ranger. The others are all below 25.
Loot seems more appreciated on red. Had a group where 3 different people needed small bronze gloves. That would never happen on blue, they would rot or be VTed.
I'm not super into pvp yet but it seems fun. I have had a few encounters so far and lost all of them. I've never been ready for it :) Even though I was beaten it was still a thrill and I don't experience that on blue.
I work a full time job, my play time is pretty solid but I don't have to time to sit in Neriak for VT for my ench epic. I can't be on call for bat phones to kill dragons. Red seems like a place where I would still be able to get epic/dragon loot while not having it hinder my RL. I was able to get sky loot on blue b/c that is scheduled, but that is it. Everything else I have was bought or I solo camped.
I don't even bother to go to MM/unrest on blue. On red the only threat there is griefers and I found them pretty easy to avoid (plus you out-level them quickly). Sometimes I will check lguk w/ an alt to see how many people are in the zone, but usually what I want is camped and I've been checking it less and less.
So far this server is fun.
