View Full Version : Static group

Hello,
I'm new to Everquest. I started playing a few weeks ago and I'm
already enjoying the game a lot. I like the rhythm, the challenge.
I would like to start a static group to enjoy the game much
more. Ideally 4-5 players, but even 2 would be fine. The only
requirement is commitment to stay in the group and level
those characters only as a group.
I don't have much time to play myself, only a few hours a week,
preferrentially at 1-2 am EST since I live in europe, any day
of the week is fine. I have a 5 lvl necro but the idea would be
to start a main for the group and play the necro as an alt in
other times.
Let me know if you are interested.
Cheers

Any really, I'm open to suggestions. I guess it would
be nice to discuss this and also the classes/races for the group once
there are enough people interested

Well I have a bunch of chars in the qeynos area, rolled one each of the half elf classes. My druids moved on and my war is about to but I have a nicely geared ranger over there and of course bard, paladin and rouge.

Hello,
Great! We are then probably 3 in the group: milsrogen, Hardaek and myself. I would suggest to wait a couple of more days to see if we get a fourth one. Given the circumstances, let's meet on the Qeynos area for the first time. Let's start disussing the
group composition, I'm happy to experience any class (except necro as I'm levelling one currently), so I can try what is good given your current characters, maybe we can try:
Cleric(me)/Bard(Hardaek)/Ranger(milsorgen)
Personally, I don't care about finding the "perfect match" for the group, the main goal is to have fun and level, but of course it should make sense so I'm open to your suggestions.
Cheers

i can be, and usually am, up and playing around 12 to 1 am Central time on Fridays and Saturdays. I could start a Druid/Enchanter/Wizard (already have enough Magicians) in the Qeynos area if you pick one of those nights to play. The rest of the week I am out cuz I have to get up early Mon thru Fri for work and I already have a static group on Wed nights.

As far as advice goes:
Let everyone solo up to level 3 or 4 before starting the group. Levels 1and 2 go by in a breeze and you should be able to get to 3 in less than an hour on any class. Level 3 can be a bit tedious to get thru solo for some classes so grouping starts to make more sense then and your casters get more useful spells at 4.
Resist the temptation to twink.
If you get five people, you can make a guild. It's fun to have a guild tag when you have a static group. Been there got the T-shirt.
Have a Master looter designated each time you go out and leave Autosplit off! Preferably someone with a high STR rating. Master Looter should leave all his own money in his bank before each adventure.that way at the end of each night after tradeskill supplies are divided and junk loot is sold off, you can /split p g s c and everyone gets a fair share.

Cool tips, I'm not remembering as much as I thought I would so it would definitely be cool to group with someone who knows what they are doing.

Thanks a lot for the tips Charlievox! It would be great if we manage to have 5 people on the group. Unfortunately, I cannot make it before 1 am EST any given night so that's definitely a minimum... Is there a chance you can make it starting at that time? it would be great to have your experience on board.

My ranget is like lvl 6 at the moment and lightly twinked, heh. I'll work on others chars in the area and post later with my char names and classes.

Alright so in the Qeynos area I have:
Mithrilfar 5/ranger
Mithrilnar 1/rouge
Mithrilzar 2/bard

Wellfair 4/shadow knight
Willing to play whatever fits into the group best.

You are in Europe and want a static group? Same here!
Me and two pals of mine all live in Scandinavia and want to play at least once a week after work-hours like 19.00 to 23.00.
One guy has a level 20 Enchanter so he is waiting for me and the other guy to meet his level. We started as a Halfling Rogue Druid combo but when we hit lvl 12 we switched to Iksar Monk Shaman combo.
We stopped doing D&D and came here instead. After Kurns we will travel to Antonica and meet our gnome friend there to hit up old dungeons.
Maybe we could join forces, or if my gang leave me to rot I can join you guys :)
I would be interested in leveling up a Cleric

I will be making a human Enchanter in Qeynos. I will post the name later.

Hi,
Great that we are four then, maybe there still the chance another one will join to make a guild. About classes, I would like to try a cleric, I've never played a healing class before. What do you think Charlievox is a good combination, maybe we need an enchanter?

Youchy and kronik_migrane, welcome on board!
So we are 6 then, excellent!
Charlievox: druid
kronic_migrane: rogue
Youchy: ?
milsorgen: bard?

kvotheth: cleric
Maybe we need a mage, enchanter?
Muggens, thanks for your post, let us know how your group progress and will be happy to join forces in the future. For now, I think 6 is a good number, we can create the guild and start this Friday night at 1 am EST. Qeynos is the suggested area but we can still change it I guess, what do you think Charlievox, is this really very relevant?
To coordinate things better for each session I think it would be good to communicate via e-mail, in this way we can also postpone/cancel a given session is someone cannot make it. This of course only everyone is ok with this, otherwise we can discuss it on Friday night. If you all agree, just PM with your e-mail address.
We should just then agree on the classes and the area where we should meet on Friday.
This is exciting!!
Cheers

As I have stated before, Qeynos is not the easiest place to work from. Thee are several things missing in the area like a supply of Tiny Daggers for Enchanter pets, smithing supplies like sharpening stones that can be used to improve rusty weapons.
It might be better to work out of Freeport. This also gives us better access to the EC Tunnel for trading with other players and getting free buffs. There is also a wider selection of places to play.
But then if someone wanted to be a Druid or Ranger, they would have to be a Halfling from Rivervale. Not an insurmountable problem as its not hard to travel between Rivervale and Freeport as long as you go thru Kithicore in the daylight.
I would make an Enchanter if we were working out of Freeport and then we would need a healer. Cleric or Druid.
The other option would be to work out of Faydwer and make a group of Elves, Dwarfs and Gnomes. I already have a Gnome Enchanter, Gnome Mage, Gnome Necro and High Elf Wizard on that continent all level 4.

kronik_migraine

I'm level 5 on my rogue, about 1 yellow in. But I'm an alternate, so take that with a grain of salt. I think everyone getting to level 5 solo before joining is a good idea, as going from 1-5 as a big group is kind of pointless. This way everyone can already have their level 4 or 5 spells and be ready to roll.
Rhinehouse
08-12-2015, 04:45 PM

Hi,
Agreed that if Cees doesn't respond by today, we'll assume he is not interested. If that's the case then Kronik you are next on the list and then sixpence... I'll PM you if the spot is available. Keep in mind also that after the first session, it's likely that some in the group might not think is a good fit, etc. so I imagine it will take a few session before the group is more stable.
Regarding the starting level, I think 5 is too high. The idea from the first post was to start from scratch, but I understand that it might be better to start a little bit higher. I would say to keep the starting characters around lvl. 2-3. I actually will roll my character probably tomorrow since some of the classes are still not fixed for the group, so I won't have time to level much before the first meeting. That being said, I would not oppose a lvl 5 char in the starting group.
By the way, once we have the group and guild, it would be nice to have a charter, or just some simple rules so that everything is clear, for instance the core idea of a static group, meaning that the level difference between the character should be small, etc.

Hello everyone,
Just wanted to share some highlights about the experience in the group so far:
Session 1: learned about the importance of the binding spell, chased by a kodiak, ported by a kind druid near Kaladim (tradein quests are awesome to level up)
Session 2: joined a company of dwarfs (and one elf) to enter crushbone, witnessed the are of kiting, faced an orc legionaire and experience bravery and sacrifice from my companions
So far, enjoying it a lot, I don't know if I can solo anymore in mmorpgs, and I just regret I didn't discover this game 15 years ago when I had more time...
Cheers

So true Kvothe.
I now get pretty limited playtime compared to when Life was just 'me' & all I had to worry me was affording Wine & Tobacco.
Finding a group of likeminded souls who are reliable, have fun & you look forward to grouping with all week are worth their weight in Gold.
Pleased for you all folks

Soloing is boring. Groups rock, especially static ones!

Same. I'd be willing to setup a Static Group more US EST, if we had the interest.

You can get all the way to level 8 without much work by collecting gnoll teeth. I mean if you're starting in Qeynos.

I'm down for a US EST group, will create for suit. 7-10ish I usually can swing.
