View Full Version : Cleric Leveling on P99 (Group, and Solo)

Hi folks...

So, I originally wanted to begin playing here a year ago, but ESO released... and broke my heart like every other game that seemed promising, so I'm finally coming back to my roots here.

Wanted to play a Necro seems I wasn't too sure how healthy the community was, and after grouping with myself, and 3 other Necros healing 1 Tank; I said fuck it. I'll go back to having a Cleric main like the old days.

My only worry is this: being forced to solo.

I know the class pretty darn well, and was able to solo at any given level if need be, but I'd much rather not. The community seems healthy in the lower levels, but what about post 30? Are the usual Kunark Zones camped? Sarnak Fort, Giant Fort, all of Dreadlands, KC? Those were my zones.

I figure as I'm leveling, I'll meet people, they'll recognize that I'm not an idiot and play well so hopefully that will sustain me later on, but I'm just worried a little. I'm playing nothing but a Cleric here on out, and I don't want to regret it if I can't find groups later on.

Just curious if I shouldn't worry, or if there are others in the 30s/40s/50s range currently leveling and not having any issues.

Not leveling on my cleric but I will say that Sarnak fort in LOIO was always pretty busy when I was there with my druid a month or so ago. Prime time is still US evening and weekends.

I'm not sure what old world and Kunark populations are at now with Velious (since there are always at least 30 people in any given Velious zone now, even at weird times of the day), but for those still leveling, everything should be clear of farmers for the most part. :)

What you should probably do is form your own groups, especially for dungeons. As a cleric you already have one of the essentials down, you just need tanks and support. Of course, I say that knowing that forming a group is kind of hard because you have to basically cold-call players. On the other hand, there are a bajillion iksar monks out there in need of a cleric from what I've seen. The poor things.

Good luck!

Oh yea... and warriors. That was probably it too, I was playing on my Iksar Necro... all necros minus the one Warrior or Monk we had. I was sending messages to all healers within the area; no one wanted to play with us broken toys tonight, hence I'm rolling a cleric instead.

Cleric is incredibly easy to get to 60 compared to other classes. The only issue with it are people who roll Cleric because its tough to get groups on other classes, which inflates the population. The only thing that will keep you from getting groups are other Clerics.

Making your own groups is always the best bet. If you ask a nub to join a group and they ask "do you have a cleric?" and you say "yes" they are on board.

That's the only issue I think I'll have; other clerics. But... I'm not like other clerics. It's only a matter of time once I level and slowly get gear that I'll spread myself apart from the others.

Not afraid to solo either way, so I think I made the right choice re-rolling.

36-39 you can go to unrest and kill hags in the undead knight's tower or in the basement.

Should get you a few bits of cool loot, the xp didn't seem too bad to me.

If you play well (i.e. pay attention and keep everybody alive when things are going well, pay attention and make smart decisions when trained, pay attention and make smart decisions when groupmates develop a case of the dumbass, & etc.) you will easily out-compete those who roll cleric just for ease of getting groups. It's amazing how many players just can't stay focussed on a reactive role for an extended period of time. Other players do notice the cleric who never gets distracted nor ninja-afks, tanks and pullers especially will look for you when groups are being formed.

You have to have some pretty good gear to Solo versus hardly any to group. Not easy to do both on a budget. :(

Make a chanter friend, you will hit 60 in a couple of months.

I'm finding that out now webrunner.

All good though, I prefer grouping, but I'll find some way to make plat and buy some gear. Just going off how it was back then, I didn't spend much to be able to solo undead in my 40s/50s (when there are no groups) if I recall, and seems you guys were in Kunark Era for so long; it may not be that bad.

With the population, I just find it hard to believe that I won't be able to find a group during peak times in my 20s/30s and on up.

Or I could be wrong and dreams will be ruined. Either way, Cleric it is.
