invisible placeholders pop/depop randomly throughout the zone and have a chance to respawn as Vaniki after his repop timer has passed

at least, this was the way it worked on live

Dis. But even after all these years it's still not been Confirmed. Only reason you got him on live was because server reset,fabled. Almost impossible to camp him

5 total spawn locations on a 122 hour respawn and 122 hour despawn. Each spot has a 10% chance of Vaniki spawning and a 90% chance of an invisible place holder. Vaniki is a unique mob (#) so only 1 Vaniki can be up at one time.

For practical purposes on live, Vaniki was pretty much a server restart or bust NPC.

On a server like this, Vaniki will be more common (via spawn not overall) since the 5 spawn locations will be more and more de-synchronized as more Vaniki's spawn (and get killed).

The common misconception is that there is a 50% chance of her spawning every 5 days. The reality is that it takes another 5 days for un-killable PH mobs to despawn, so it's really 5 spots operating on a 10% chance every 10 days. Given non-overlapping placeholders, you're looking at a Vaniki spawn on average every 20 days. Given overlapping placeholders, you're looking at a Vaniki on average every 24 days. These numbers decrease if you are actually seeing more Vaniki (and thus circumventing the despawn timer by killing).

It's helpful that Willsapper is a 100% drop rate, but willsappers mostly existed on live because server resets.

Every character I had on live rocked a Neb's Warbone. Mucho Vaniki slaying.

Guild didn't get an actual Quarm kill shot until the 4th or 5th kill.

Are we sure it's 122 hours and not 6? I've heard debates the 122 hours = in game time time which is 6 hr 6 min?

they're unkillable place holders

it isn't possible here, but on live during this era you could trade with invisible npcs. you could run around DN with a copper on your cursor clicking everything, and you'd eventually get a "You are too far away from VanikiPlaceholder00 to trade" message, or a trade window.

alternatively, you could see them with showeq

I saw a Red Con "Invisiman" on track in Skyshrine last night. Is this something similar or is this a SS mob i'm unaware of.
