Velious Leveling

I have seen several posts of these kind of questions and was hoping to get input from everyone. I know most people remember the 50+ places to go but wanted to get some information on camps and spots to level/grind on a level range with groups. I will update this up here as I get input from everyone. I know we can all go read the level ranges on the maps but those can be deceiving. Lots of people know this and remember it all. Some people didn't play then or (like me) last time I played in Velious was in my early 20's and I dont remember much from around that time. Thanks for the help

^ this, but only for groups, there are some good solo spots.

Anyhow you can still lvl with a group confidently on any continent, I'll attempt to get things started.

30-35 - ToFS (Tower of Frozen Shadow) (http://wiki.project1999.com/Tower_of_Frozen_Shadow) good to get started, dungeon exp and lots of undead, so bring a cleric or 2 and you will fine :)
35-40 - you could stick to ToFS but if that is boring try either EW (Eastern Wastes) Giant fort (http://wiki.project1999.com/Eastern_Wastes), or GD (Great Divide) Giant Fort (http://wiki.project1999.com/The_Great_Divide) which are great to start building Thurgadin faction, these guys can hit hard but the toes and heads will sell for about 80 - 150 pp atm, if you want another dungeon then CC (Crystal Caverns) (http://wiki.project1999.com/Crystal_Caverns) is good
40-45 - this area I'm a little unsure, as I quad kite as a druid at this level in Cobalt Scar... maybe stick to CC? Or move into CS (Cobalt Scar) (http://wiki.project1999.com/Cobalt_Scar) but maybe someone can fill this part in?
45-50 - If you have a beefed up and a well balanced group you could try Velks lab but I suggest going back to killing Giants, this time on their home turf in KD (Kael Drakkal) (http://wiki.project1999.com/Kael_Drakkal)
50-55 - Velks (Velketor's Laboratory) (http://wiki.project1999.com/Velketor%27s_Labyrinth)
55-60 - ?? Someone needs to fill this in

From what I understand velious mobs hit harder and have more hp. What exactly is the perk to leveling in velious besides novelty?

can probably do faction work while leveling, or farm tradeskill stuff, to make it worth your time

I've been wondering about this a lot myself. Since everyone did a mass exodus to Velious, it's been rough trying to get an exp group at 49.

Really on blue even? Zones like City of Mist are still open for business almost 24/7 on red, other zones like seb you gotta make a group usually.

I'm surprised people are still there other than for item camps and raiding.

I was doing the frenzy camp on my SK earlier in the week. Must have been there 5-6 hours, made 10% of 57.

Also went to Kael arena to faction up a bit. One death and I never clawed back the XP loss on a 90% rez.

Been like three or four soloers in CoM the last few times I've gone during prime time. I'm a little high for Dreadlands, and a little low for Sebilis. Suppose I could check out KC, but I've been loathe to trash my OT faction. The zones are not nearly as populated as they used to be.

when things settle down in a week or two, the majority of the leveling population will return to kunark. velious offers nothing new in terms of exp zone replacements. post-nerf velks will be the only challenger, but even that will be farmed for loot too much to be competitive xp.

I've had an absolute blast in KC since velious release date on. Mostly empty, if there is one group there, there is still plenty of room to have another with no contested mobs. Every time I've been to seb, one, two, or three of crypt/NG/disco have been open. CoM moat and level 2 usually open. Plenty of places to exp in old world ! Not for long, though. Most of the population will soon figure it out ;)

Yeah very true. Probably faster XP. I looked up, and there really is NO zone in Velious that has a good, great ZeM.

But damn, the loot is great. Some Big upgrades for not a lot more work. :cool:

for 45-50, theres 3 Ogre Mercs that spawn in the north part of the zone where giant guards spawn. They are easily quaddable (just snag a wandering walrus or Ulthork) and have low HP. They also give +CoV faction

Rangers that want to pass the time can panic animal the cougars for some solo exp that is easy to manage while watching movies.

Cool rangers can panic animal in EW some big elephant dudes. Bring a swarm caller.

Velious leveling is good for loot, bad for exp. Most people want to loot gems for armor quests or just hit up some good loot camps. Velks has tons of mobs that drop good loot very often. I will probably head back to kunark soon though to try and hit 60.

An awesome necro named Kalashan let me leech off of him in City of Mist, until we got a regular group set up. Had the whole place to ourselves. Been pretty much the only decent exp group in Kunark I've gotten since Velious opened. Did see some folks earlier in the day though, so maybe things are slowly starting to shift back.

During a CR, I checked KC for an evac to EJ, the whole place was empty. Pretty wild.

Yea I pretty much would just try to duo or whatever in CoM and a group would kind of form off of people showing up. Sat in KC for 2 days and couldn't get a group so gave up on that one. SolB hasn't been terrible to get some xp in now.

Kunark has definitely been getting some people back in the last few days as people want to level. DL had 30 people in it last night around 11pm cst.

The old world spells like Panic Animal that become useable by hybrids don't become available until later.
