What class to role.. I know another one

Hi all,

First time project 1999 member, still downloading eq and hoping to play tonight. Most likely going to play on the blue server.

Anyways thinking of what I should role. I played a wood elf druid(54) and a wood elf ranger(51), human mage (38) on tallon zek back in the day, but now I am leaning towards playing a bard or necro.

Any suggestions on professions? I was thinking blacksmith with my bard, but are their other professions that might pair better?

Any suggestions to help ease me back in? Any old forum posts people go recommend I read up on?

I would prefer to play something that would be good in a group, but don't want to struggle too much with leveling solo.. I read posts about sticklers with hybrid classes, is that really the case?

Appreciate any help.

xp penalties are what they are. pretend they dont exist.
necro/enc/mag all great caster solo'ers.
necro/enc both great for grps.

Professions meh choose whatever you want, they are all a grind, they are all painful in thier own way.

It's always good to be at least a middling blacksmith because many of the other tradeskills depend on smithed components at some point.

Thanks for the replies.. I made an ogre shaman for now.. Still thinking about making a HE bars or evil necro..(Iskar seem cool, but the kos thing might make it tough).

Jewel crafters are one of the few on here that actually make any real plat to talk about in the long run. :(

But all are needed, even Tinkers. :D

And if you can stand running in a Oval for 30 minutes at a time, well yeah, a Bard makes a damned good toon in Velious.
