How does Velious armor work? On live did everyone automatically get upgraded to Velious armor? Did all armor take on the new look? Should we be downloading Velious textures now?

Velious armor textures are used by specific items, like anything else. Should already have the necessary files if you did not remove them. May need to add this to your eqclient.ini:

LoadArmor17=TRUE
LoadArmor18=TRUE
LoadArmor19=TRUE
LoadArmor20=TRUE
LoadArmor21=TRUE
LoadArmor22=TRUE
LoadArmor23=TRUE

Looked at my ini file. all those are set to true and no velious textures on my Helm of the Tracker...

Armor from velious doesn't necessarily use velious textures... but I have no idea about specific velious items.

Velious hats models are a bit special on the dev side (need to set a value on the item that you didn't need to for classic hats), but I assume the devs are already aware of that.

I downloaded and extracted all the Velious files to my P99 directory and got the game running. Closed the game, opened my .ini file and didn't see this listing at all. Cut and pasted the above, but after restarting, still no Velious armor textures. Any other ideas?

Thanks much.

Velious textures never even worked on live. Having them be broken now as well is just staying classic, obviously.

You do have the special Velious armor in question to put on and see right, it doesn't change all armor?

Yes, I have Berserker legs, even asked Sirken to confirm that they are velious textures, he answered: Yes and that he can see it.

Do you see "global17_amr.s3d", "global18_amr.s3d", etc in your EQ folder? If you've ever used one of the install size minimizer programs or such you might have had them removed.

Yeah, I am sorry that it's not working. The only other thing that I can think of if you have the correct entries in your eqini, and the "global17_amr.s3d", and "global18_amr.s3d" is that maybe the eqini file isn't keeping those entries? Which could relate to file permissions and having to open it as an administrator to keep the armor entries in there. Any more info, like what OS your using, have you tried a fresh install?

Make sure all the LoadArmors are added under [Defaults] and not one of the other labels in square brackets, too. Top of the file right under [Defaults] should be fine, I think.

Yes, I do have those.

I've been having this problem as well. I can't figure it out :( I also have the client entries and the global files mentioned above. I'm disappointed because I love the Velious textures.

LoadVeliousArmorsWithLuclin=TRUE

would this have anything to do with the issue?

LoadVeliousArmorsWithLuclin=TRUE
was a half finished feature from when SoE tried to make the velious textures work with Luclin models.

I don't see the harm in switching it to false since the luclin models are unused. I checked my install and it is set to false.

OP have you tried cutting eqclient from your eq folder and running eqgame.exe patchme?

IIRC eq will generate a new eqclient if there isn't one present in the folder and worse case scenario you can try playing around with that.

EDIT:

Additional suggestion:

Do you have texture cache enabled?

If so delete all the old texture cache files EQ created because they will be loading instead of the new armour. Sadly I can't remember which file extension indicates cached texture files.

Switching "LoadVeliousArmorsWithLuclin=TRUE" to false had no effect. Have tried everything suggested in this thread, none of which has worked. Does anyone see the textures for velious armor? Some say they do, I am starting to think its a lie. Hah. Everyone I talk to in game has said they only see standard textures on velious armor.

It looks like it's .txc files: http://alt.games.everquest.narkive.com/aLopdOBE/strange-colours-for-warders-wolves

I don't have any .txc files that I can find, but maybe this will help someone else :)

I don't have any .txc files (and don't even have texture caching on). I had working Velious armor textures on Beta, and I don't on live. I've also tried with a clean eqclient.ini file which did not work.

velious plate helms use the regular plate graphic iirc, the "velious helm" graphic is added later in the timeline

That's a good question. I'd like to know too.

EDIT: Potentially a bug? Rogean "fixed" it so it forces to everyone rather than checking the .ini?

Yo Nilbog/Rogean... change this shit.
