You're standing in Greater Faydark, you're lost and can't see any landmarks but you know without looking at an EQ atlas map that Crushbone is on the north wall and that's where you want to head.

"You are facing north" ... off you go. Dropping a weapon works just as well.

Prove me wrong.
It tells me the direction I'm heading. Always correct, too.

But that doesn't mean I know what's in that direction.

I use sense heading everytime I play EQ.

Right now if someone links you a compass in chat it tells you your direction when you click on the compass link...

Sense heading is the 3rd most useful thing in EQ behind begging and language

You jump out of sky and want to make sure you are actually facing west so you can find the dock...

You just got the FTE on Faydedar and want to make sure you are properly running north so some Class C neckbeard doesn't harass you in tells and petition you for "stalling"

My Sense Heading has been at 200 for a long time! I think it's broke. I should be at 255 by now.

I use sense heading all the time when navigating zones I don't remember.

I know Gfay is on the southern end of BBM. I know BBM is on the southwest side of gfay.

Sense heading is not classic

/loc sucks, I run around trying to figure out why one set of numbers changes versus the other. Sense heading is way better, I use it all the time.

I have Sense heading mapped to my Left turn key.
I have the skill maxed out on every character by level 4.
I never get lost.

When I first started P99 on my mage I did exactly this, however I never did it on any other character I played pretty much because I forgot sense heading was a thing.

A bunch of you have a very poor sense of direction.

I get utterly, hopelessly lost trying to navigate my way through Walgreens. I have sense heading maxed and on page 1 for every character.

That said, jesus christ it's completely useless.

If you play often it's pretty easy to remember from places you regularly port into, or whatever, what direction one destination is compared to another. Use sense heading when you port in. Sure you could say /loc does the same thing, but then again you could say /loc is useless because you can just use sense heading.

Usefulness is situational.

If I need to get to a specific random location, like find a corpse in the middle of nowhere, then /loc. Otherwise, I navigate purely on sight and sense heading. Consequently, in all honestly, I don't think I've used /loc in over a year.

Hey Swish. That is the best GIF I have seen. Thx.

And sense heading needs practice. Make a hot key hooked to your left or right arrow key.

sounds like some people just too cool to be trifled with using sense heading

Sense heading bound to movement, used frequently as MA in mass PvP.

Hmm is this a binary thing, where people that use /loc never use sense heading, or vice versa? If so, I'm in the latter camp. I use sense heading to get my bearings (i.e. I need to go to the NE part of the zone, where is NE?) but I almost never use /loc.

I use both because...why not...
