In England, for every new housing estate built they have to set aside a certain portion for "social housing", which I guess you guys call "the projects" or whatever.

It ensures that there's housing for the poor but also ensures that no estate is free of scumbags who want to commit acts of burglary, theft, etc etc.

One look at the American education system is all you need to know about keeping people away from what goes on behind the government curtains. Immigration is good for watering down public opinion on that kind of thing... same in the UK, plenty of Polish folks here who couldn't care less about British politics and our debt problems.
